The Mosser Hotel

This is one of the best quality/position hotel you can find in San Francisco. Well managed, clean with 24h reception. Some rooms have bathroom, some no but the price is consequent. The shared bathrooms are very small but well maintained. Other hotels offer more fancy rooms, but I recommend The Mosser if you are on a budget.

The Mosser is conveniently located and a great value for the area. The much more expensive Marriott marquee is directly across the street.The lobby is beautiful. Note, there is no air-conditioning! I was comfortable with the large overhead fan but it did get a little warm as I was showering and running the hairdryer. I selected a room with a private bath, and it was just what I needed. All in all, a great stay and I would return.

The stay at The Mosser is always pleasant and consistent. It does get hot and stuffy in the room. Also it would be wonderful if they would consider adding a coffee machine in the room instead of providing coffee in the common room downstairs.

I was on a business trip for just one night. The room was really small, the sink is in the room, there is a small small table for a laptop. The building is clean although the lobby is dark. The people are very friendly. There is no restaurant on site; however, there are eateries all over the place at a walking distance. The reason I stayed there is that it is only 1.5 blocks from the Moscone Center where I attended an expo for 2 days.

Additional fees added on when you checkin, after you are told there are no extra fees after booking/paying. Dirty, old cramped room. Soap was used in room. Ice machine broken. Additional fee brought it to within $25 of Hilton.

It is down to basics hotel. The room was quite small. No cleaning the room, changing towels or linens during 4 day stay. Everything was working properly. Tea or coffee by the reception area. The price is at most 1/2 of the Marriott Marquis across the street.

It's by Muni which is great. It has key card access so you're safe. Walls were a little thin to somewhat hear other people's conversations. I was on the top floor in summer, there were times I felt pretty warm and I didn't see an AC unit to adjust the temperature. I was out most of the day so when night time came that was not an issue and I didn't want to open the double windows in the off chance of bugs coming through (perhaps a window screen in the future) but the double windows do a good job keeping the city noise to a minimum. Bathroom entrance is definitely for slimmer people as you go to close it.

Very close to Moscone center, trader joes rigth next door. Old building kept nice. I stayed with a deal %50 off, I think that should be the regular price. Overall clean room, a few big old stains on cushion seat I covered with the bathrobe, kind staff , coffee in the morning. One microwave at lobby, I wish they had a coffee machine near the microwave.

It is a 3 star hotel in SF. The rates are OK, the hotel is older. But, the place is spotlessly clean and feels like it is well looked after. A no frills cost effective place to stay. We will stay there again.

Stayed one day with quick, easy check in. Classic old school lobby with modern style. Room was impeccably clean.

Hallways and common spaces are gross but the rooms are clean. 4/5 would stay here again. Hard to beat the price and location. Good for necessity travel.

Overall, I am satisfied with the price, as it is reasonable. The receptionist is very helpful. However, on two of the four days, I worked in the room during the day, so it was not surprising that the room was not cleaned, but on the other two days, they did not clean the room, even though I had hung a tag asking them to do so. As a result, they didn't make my bed even once in 4 nights and 5 days.

If you need an inexpensive night or two in San Francisco this is fine. Cleaning wasn’t great, and watching the cleaner clean a toilet with used towels from a room didn’t feel great. But the location was convenient to BART and downtown.

The shower floor was dirty and there were hairs on the floor. The lamp above the bed is stained and didn’t work. The stay was good and the staff was very nice. Thank you. Will stay again.

Small rooms

Clean room and comfortable bed. But temperature can not be adjusted. Heater, old fashioned radiator kind, would turn on by itself at hight full blast regardless if maintenance tightened the knob during the day. Windows are too thin (single pain) so street noise is very noticeable

This was my second time staying at The Mosser. The first visit was great—I had a cozy room with a private bathroom, and the overall experience was wonderful. That’s why I decided to book again. Unfortunately, my second stay was quite disappointing. The price was significantly higher, even though the room came without a private bathroom this time (I had to use a shared one). It almost felt like the pricing algorithm recognized that I had stayed before and liked it—so it charged more. Honestly, it didn’t feel worth the cost. While the shared bathroom was clean, the overall vibe felt more like a hostel than a hotel. My room had a door with a glass pane that let in the hallway light all night. There was a blind, but it didn’t do much to block the brightness. It was very difficult to sleep because of how lit the room stayed. Even worse, the room had poor sound insulation. I spent the entire night hearing loud street noise—specifically trucks unloading cargo just outside. It was a nightmare. I couldn’t sleep at all. In the end, I really think The Mosser should be more transparent during the booking and check-in processes—especially about the type of room, shared facilities, and noise issues. Unless you’re in urgent need of a place to stay and all the better rooms are booked, I’d avoid the shared-bathroom options here.

Was ok - super small and loud from the street / alley noise…

The room is very small. The sink is in the room, not in the bathroom.

I got a deluxe room. The receptionists were not friendly. WiFi was so slow. There weather was ok, but the water radiator was so noisy at nights! The room's door is not sealed enough and light comes in from the door frame. Also, you can hear people walking in the hallway, which is annoying at nights.

Great location. Overall, a very good option for the price. Only problem is that the walls are rather thin and you can hear a lot from the hallways.

Exactly as expected for the price. Location was super convenient. Has a little bit of a musty smell in the hotel room. No AC so we opened up the window and we can hear the busyness of the city. The walls are pretty thin where we can hear our neighbor's every move and what was going on in the halls. If you like sleeping in pitch black, this might not be for you. The room we were in has a window above the door frame and a significant amount of light would come through from the hallway. It’s not one of those hotels where you’re excited to go back to and relax after a long day of exploring. We were mostly there just to shower and sleep. All-in-all, it was good enough for 3 nights and the price we paid.

This place is more dorm than hotel—there isn’t even a thermostat to control the temperature, just a fan. I was so hot—nothing a fan could cure. There were also windows (with blinds) over top of the door which meant it was always kind of light in the room. I checked out early as it wasn’t worth staying. Wouldn’t stay here again.

The hotel is in the center of the city. Access to all public transportation options, BART, metro/muni, and bus. The room was clean and comfortable. I thought that I would be more bothered sharing a bathroom and shower, but I never had to wait for either. The third floor shower has great water pressure. The staff/service were exceptional. I asked to switch rooms as mine was facing an alley and was too warm for my liking. To my surprise, they found me a new room that was much cooler and I spent the rest of my stay in bliss!! Thanks so much to the staff.

Good customer service

Once i arrived early ,I ask if i could check in he said no its to early 130pm .i replied i will pay he suddenly agreed. Iasked a window looking towards the main st. 4th He said cant then another guess checking in for alonger stay got to change to the room iwas supposed to get and they gave it to him and i got tottal different room . But just a min ago he told me no that i couldnt change my room i had to stay with the one i got online which every one thatone was i didnt get it either Suddenly i was getting a new room .

There was a very noisy strike going on at the Marriott Marquis across the street. Drums beating, people shouting through megaphones, and the picket line blocking the sidewalk across the street. The location would be good without the strike going on, but it was the deciding factor for a lower rating. I booked a "deluxe queen room". I expected a small room, but hot a full-size bed in a tiny, not-so-deluxe room. I paid extra for the bigger room and asked about it the desk. They just shrugged and couldn\'t care less. If the better room isn\'t available, there should be a refund of the difference.

Staff is unprofessional calling in the middle of the night asking us about our hotel reservation. Also, we got overcharged by $300 at the end of the stay. NEVER coming back.

Awesome hotel to visit. The entire staff was kind and extremely helpful with all of my needs. The front desk staff was wonderful. Housekeeping was friendly as well. The location of the hotel is excellent and close to public transportation, shopping and dining.

Secure lobby. Staff is always accommodating and knowledgeable. Quaint hotel.

Great place close to MUNI and many SF attractions

great location for oracle park and shopping slept well,felt safe,parking convenient,just park at 4th street end of parking building.

Great location to Bart.

A no frills place to stay when you just need a safe place to sleep. Convenient location across the street from Powell Street BART station. Trader Joe’s next door and many local places to eat. If you are a light sleeper, there is significant street noise all night long.

The building is old and has a sense of history. The location was great！

Place is conveniently located next to the Moscone Center which I attended a conference in and it’s very fairly priced. Other than that be ready to stay in a neighborhood with homeless people all around and a minimally basic room with a tiny bathroom w/o AC.

Hotel was in a great spot, lots to do around it and easy access to transit to anywhere in San Francisco and the bay area. Secure and safe. I'd go back!

I would stay here again. The property was clean and felt safe. A few minor inconveniences included there being a band aid in the shower when I arrived, the blinds didn’t thoroughly block the light from outside, they only offer coffee in the mornings and there was a lot of outside noise during the night. Overall I was happy with my stay, the property and staff.

We stayed at The Mosser for a quick weekend trip to San Francisco. The location was perfect! Mass transit is just a block away so you can get all over the city. There were restaurants and bars nearby. Rooms are small but we weren’t in the room except to sleep. Beds and pillows were comfortable. It’s an old building with charm! I would definitely stay here again.

very nice little hotel right in the heart of San Francisco, very nice staff, not the newest hotel or the fanciest hotel, but will do for a couple of nights at a good price! Small little rooms with private bathroom or bathrooms in the hallway, laundry room with vending machine, coffee in the morning, near the BART station and a movie theater across the street!

The Mosser is a great boutique hotel with beautiful old-school character / charm, within a great location near the convention center, and for an affordable price. There's a wonderful parlor on the ground floor where you can get coffee in the morning. My only wish would be that they could also have a few small things to eat for a light breakfast with the coffee.
