Handlery Union Square Hotel

This hotel is old and needs to be modernized. That said, it was clean, quiet, and well kept up. The concierge desk was extremely helpful. The location was also a big bonus: Union Square is a really nice area!

Perfectly located next to Union square and Powell cable-car. Direct access from the Airport with BART. A block away from car rentals if you want to drive out of the city. Wonderful renovated pool, just warm enough for a good swim before touring.

A/C was not working during my stay.

The Handlery has maintained some of the original character of the hotel while updating for modern convenience. The staff are polite, helpful, and very accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and quiet, and the convenience and proximity to downtown and restaurants makes it very walkable inconvenient. Half a block to the trolley on Powell Street. Half a block to Union Square station. We would definitely stay here again for both business and pleasure.
