The Hotel was pretty good, good location and clean. The lady at the front was very rude would probably be an understatement. She sprayed my gf and I with cold water while we were enjoying our time in the hot tub. The hot tub closed at 9:00 pm and we were spayed with cold water at 8:57 pm, I guess that was her way to kick us out. I would have greatly appreciated a warming or any kind of communication and we would have gladly exited the hot tub. After the incident she didn’t apologize or really cared about the incident. I travel a lot and I have never experienced a hotel staff be so rude ever. Avoid this place at all cost, plenty of other hotels just as nice with better staff that will not ruined your night. I’ve stayed at other hotels nearby and staff are much better.

Loved the add-on breakfast delivered to our door. They also offer complimentary cookies and coffee in the lobby. Very nice pool, hot tub, and fireside seats. Easy walking distance to the beach and Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill.

We had such a wonderful and relaxing stay at Sea Otter Inn! From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. The atmosphere is peaceful, warm, and inviting — perfect for a family getaway. The service was excellent, and every staff member we interacted with was kind, attentive, and accommodating. The area around the inn is beautiful and serene, just a short walk to the ocean, with scenic views and fresh coastal air. The grounds are well-kept, and we especially loved the sparkling clean swimming pool and cozy jacuzzi, which felt like such a treat after a day of exploring. We stayed with our 10-month-old baby and our dog, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. The inn is incredibly family- and pet-friendly, which made everything so much easier and more enjoyable. They even had charming little touches like a fireplace in the room and a lovely breakfast delivered to the door in the morning. Everything felt clean, calm, and comfortable — we truly felt at home. This is an excellent property at a reasonable price. The location next to breathtaking coastal views is what these hotels offer. We really liked the shower at this one. Free parking. Everything was great.

The property was nice and close to the boardwalk on the ocean. Breakfast delivered could have been upgraded a bit--better pastries or veggie burrito. Maybe add an oatmeal option?? Pool and Spa was heated and clean and nice. Bed was not the best, but acceptable.

Positives: room was clean and updated. Negatives: shower amenities pump out a 1/4 tsp of product at a time. Fine, whatever. Room tidying only seems to happen upon request. Ok, but maybe let us know that in advance, or have a note about that in the room. Electric charger spots taken by gas cars. Is no one making sure this doesn’t happen? The closest charging station is Morro Bay. Guests are either loud in the morning or the walls are thin. Check in after 9 is 10 minutes away. It would have been nice to know this so we could have gone there first. The pool and hot tub were closed by order of the health department. Gross. We will not be back.

As a result, our room wasn’t serviced while we were out, and we returned to find breakfast items left behind, which we had to clean up ourselves. We also had to request additional towels since none were replaced. Despite that, the room itself was comfortable and very clean upon arrival. The location is excellent—just steps from the beach, with easy access to hiking trails and great dining nearby. One big plus for us was the electric car charging on-site, which was super convenient. The breakfast, delivered to the room each morning, was a nice touch, and having coffee available throughout the day was appreciated. The staff was friendly, and aside from the room servicing issue, everything else went smoothly. I would recommend Sea Otter Inn, especially for those looking for a cozy stay in a beautiful area; just be sure to ask ahead about housekeeping!

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay. Our room was clean and the person working at the front desk was kind, but overall I would not recommend this motel. There was a loud noise that kept us up all night which sounded like the sewer system or the air conditioning system-not quite sure. My whole family didn't sleep because of it. The water in the shower stayed hot for about 5 minutes and the rest was freezing cold, the lock on the bathroom door is broken, the curtain in the room is broken, and the lamp in our room didn't work until the person at the front desk fixed it for us.

Dated Inn. Dirty rug in the rooms, apart from that okay clean. Rooms a little rustic and simple. Front-desk not the friendliest. Sends way too advertising and spam emails.

The housekeeping was non existent but you could ask for extra towels. But the girls would congratulate outside our window and talk which woke us up both mornings. My family and I were supposed to stay at the Sea Otter Inn on Friday, September 8, 2023. After checking in, we discovered that our room was horribly dirty and there was no way we were going to sleep there. We ended up not staying at the hotel because the room was so dirty. There were crumbs along the TV stand, the rug between beds had crumbs and stains, the shower/bathroom was dirty, and the floor was sticky. We immediately went back into the office and told the gentleman at the front desk about the issue. He apologized and told me he would mention it to housekeeping. He never offered us a different room, a walk through to see our issue, or an offer to switch rooms. When I asked about a refund, he told me to go through Hotels.com. I later found out that Hotels.com had nothing to do with it since we paid the Sea Otter directly. I was told I should contact Angel, the manager. After several days, I did hear back from Angel, but he was rude and dismissive. Although I do understand that different people have different standards of cleanliness. My biggest issue is that when I brought up the issue with the front desk attended, he NEVER offered to give us another room or have it cleaned again. It was as if this happened all the time! And when I spoke to Angel, he basically called me a liar, told me that his employee did offer me another room, and I denied it. That NEVER happened. Every single correspondence with them has ended up in zero assistance! NEVER AGAIN!

Cute, clean, great location right across from the beach.

Perfect location on Moonstone beach. Boardwalk right there and close to Cambria. Only negative was our room backed up to an area with a loud generator type fan that ran all night so we had to keep the windows closed.

Of course the location is excellent however I didn't really think the property itself was of value paid for it. The room was quite outdated and while clean I honestly don't think the price paid for it is worth the room itself. Im quite sure the property is making you pay for the location. I found it disappointing that they could deliver the breakfast only on a certain time. I understand any logistical issues that might arise but honestly 7:45 is just too late. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would like to depart before that.

We loved everything about the Sea Otter Inn. The picnic basket breakfast delivery was adorable and the food was just as good! I think the only negative thing I could say about it is that the bed we had was a bit uncomfortable.

We booked a ocean view room and that while it has a good view of the water and could hear the ocean at night, it's pretty noisy during the day with cars going by. The room is spacious and having a fireplace is a nice touch. Even in May it was chilly enough to have it on. We loved having the boardwalk just across the street and were out walking everyday. It's only a 2 mile walk into town. Having breakfast delivered in the morning is a nice touch. However, if only they could stop the annoying pounding on the door to notify you. Maybe use a bell or something gentler.

My wife and I stayed here for four days. On the positive side, the staff is excellent, friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and adequately furnished. The big downside, at least for light sleepers. is that CA 1 is directly behind the hotel, and there is high-speed traffic day and night. Our room was the closest to the highway; stay away from that side of the hotel.

The room was clean. Decor seemed dated. Was not expecting to see so many guests with pets. Did not appeal to me as I do not like pets indoors. We were sitting outside on the little patios with fire pits. Person at front desk walked right by us and lit other fire pits for other guests and never did so for us. Tried opening window for ventilation and it kept sticking and never was able to reopen or totally close it. Room stuffy. Will try other facilities in same area. Will not rebook for this site.

Nice little quiet place to stay, restaurants within walking distance were good. Beautiful trail across the street to walk on. The only negative was that the heating/air conditioner in the room was loud and mattresses could be updated.

Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and nice decor. Overall we enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back .

Doug at the front desk was great, good coffee, daily breakfast is included and very tasty, hotel is right across the street from the beach! Beds and pillows were super comfy and the room was incredibly clean and well maintained. Excited to visit again soon!

Warm welcome with hot tea or coffee plus cookies, comfortable, good sized room with all amenities. Easy to use safely step in to shower with grab bar. Gas fireplace doesn't heat the entire room since the thermostat is very close by. No cooling method except opening the windows, which means you hear everything from your loud, inconsiderate neighbors. Breakfast to order provided very timely, so we could leave in time for sightseeing nearby. And it was yummy!

Location on Moonstone beach is great for proximity to the ocean

Beautiful views from our bedroom, can walk on the boardwalk on the ocean across the street. A couple of restaurants you can walk to from the hotel. Rooms are pretty sound proof but we kept the windows open to hear the waves across the street. I love staying here!

We had a very nice room, an ocean-view where we enjoyed looking at the Pacific Ocean. The walking distance from our room to the water was nice and short. Parking was great and safe. We definitely will return to this place again in the future.

Beautiful location, quick walk to the boardwalk overlooking the ocean. Super friendly staff, easy check-in/check-out. Nice, spacious room. Would love to stay here again!

I like that they have a continental breakfast brought to your room every morning. They have fresh coffee in the office all day and fresh warm cookies in the afternoon. The housekeeping staff is very pleasant. The hotel is right across the street from the ocean. I wish they would keep the pool area open until 10:00

We enjoyed our single night here. The room was well accommodated, with fridge, microwave, fireplace, actual glasses and mugs (not plastic or styrofoam), and even an electric kettle, a rarity very much appreciated by us tea drinkers. No problems here at all, with fine bed and enough tv channels available. It also had a table with two chairs in addition to the desk chair. We often play a board game or some cards when we travel, and not enough rooms make it comfortable to do so. Not a problem here. Friendly welcoming texts beforehand, nice check-in and -out. No buffet breakfast here, but they bring a basket to your room in the morning. Order from a limited menu the day before, very nice. The breakfast burrito and pastries were very good, and we enjoyed our OJ and milk to go along with our morning tea. It was a bit chilly, so we ate inside, but we had a little private patio outside if we wanted. A good breakfast either way. It's a beautiful setting with a long boardwalk available along the coast right across the street. A few walkable restaurants nearby, which was our choice, or enough options a short drive away. San Simeon/Hearst Castle with its zebras near Route 1is a short drive from here, also an elephant seal sanctuary.
