Great stay, will stay here again. Liked the valet parking option. Lovely large comfortable clean room and amenities including complimentary wine and cheese upon evening arrival. The only negative was the shower controls were difficult to manage a good temperature setting.

It is obvious that the hotel location is not great but the hotel room was spacious, it has great shower and other amenities. Staff are friendly and efficient. My only complaint is the parking situation: the hotel warned us that it takes 45 to receive our car. It took an hour and 20 minutes! The hotel receptionist called the company 3 times to bring it but it took too long.

Hotel was reasonably priced. We liked the small kitchenette in the room. Two comfortable queen size beds in a large room. The bathroom was big too. Breakfast was pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal and coffee which was okay. Really liked the happy hour - wine and cheese and biscuits - we would meet up in the foyer for a drink after our day out. At night the sirens and people shouting in the street kept us awake but we aren’t used to city living. Found we could walk to the tram or get an uber and even a driverless car very easily and reasonably to travel around. Parking at the hotel is extra and we had a car overnight for one night - the hotel take the car and keys off site - this worked well as they said leave up to half an hour to get the car in the morning which we did.

Clean roomy rooms. I had no issues with the room, they were clean, and plenty roomy for us for our luggage, our vacation whine down. We could easily walk about the room without being on top of each other as some older hotel rooms can be a bit cramped. we had 2 queen beds and we still had space for our stuff without any issues, nice drawers, closet and plenty of space for backpacks and laptops. Yes the wifi worked fine, and it was a bit slow but usable, we did not have any issues watching the programming we loved via the wifi. Our stay was part of a vacation trip. The location of this hotel is within a short walk to Union Square, which made shopping, and transportation very accessible. It was also super easy to grab an uber here so I did not feel that was an issue. Continental breakfast is minimal but ok, they did have fruit and oatmeal available as vegan options which was more than enough for me on those days i decided to grab a small bite in the morning. I did not have a chance to participate in the afternoon wine and tea time from 4-6pm but that was because we were out sight seeing Vallet parking simplified the parking, however there is not enough space in front of the building and many guests, us included, had to double park which caused me some anxiety, but luckily I did not get a ticket. It's an older building, so YES there is noise from street, consider earplugs if you need quiet. Noise depends on what is happening in the city, we had 1 noisy night and quiet after.

We loved the classic SF feel of this property, the free wine and cheese in the afternoons and pastries in the morning. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were surprised by the $57 per night parking and 30 minute wait for our car when we wanted to use it. We were dissapointed by the very poor wifi on the 7th floor and we couldn't sign into our Firestick. The TV was not a "smart tv" and there was no guide, just a chanel list. Not a big deal if you don't have kids wanting to watch a show before bed. The wi-fi really needs to be upgraded. We would maybe stay again.

Hotel was very charming and room once we switched rooms was wonderful. (They had not given us a room that I had booked and it was very small and cramped and not like the picture, but they did make it right by switching us.) People were very nice at the hotel. Breakfast was OK. Hotel hallways were clean and rooms were clean. Hotel was very charming. Bed was super comfortable. Only challenge is the area is kind of sketchy with lots of homeless people outside. I brought my dog with me and I was a little nervous to walk around in the evening and also there was nowhere that had grass. The other challenge is you can only do valet parking (we were told our car was going to get broken into if left on street) but valet parking took a super long time to get car. If you’re going to use the valet parking, I recommend you give them at least 30 minutes and then plan on waiting even longer. I did like this hotel and would recommend it to others just be aware of the location.

Lots of local options to eat at. And they are open late too! It may get a little noisy outside the hotel but you can ask for earplugs if you want them. It's a historical building so beds might be a little creaky but otherwise, staff were friendly and the place was clean. We also did valet parking for 2 nights and no problems.

The staff was very nice however we paid for the valet, called for our car at 4:30am and the individual who answered said it would be about 30 minutes. Fast forward 1 hour and 15 minutes after and our car was finally pulled up for us to take. Made us extremely late for the activities we had scheduled. The carpet in the rooms could use a good shampooing and the tubs/showers definitely need updating/deep cleaning.

The Beresford was an old downtown hotel, but clean and well staffed. One old slow elevator but it functions. Breakfast was simple but tasty with fresh rolls, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, juice and coffee. Staff were friendly and responsive to needs and requests.

The staff were friendly and the hotel was clean. The room needs updating though - the sinks are rusty and the blinds look like they needed replacing years ago as they are ripped and barely work, and the brackets are falling out of the discoloured wall. The worst part though was the shower - it is either boiling hot or freezing cold, no matter how you adjust the knobs. If I was staying longer than 1 night I would have changed rooms (or moved to another hotel if all rooms were the same quality).

Our family of 6 had a lovely stay at the Beresford Arms! Our room was very spacious, just what we needed for 3 adults & 3 kids. The bathroom was large, beds comfortable & kitchen was super handy. Staff were friendly & very helpful when organising activities. Housekeeping always kept up a lovely supply of clean fresh towels & bins were emptied daily. Wine & cheese hour was super delightful. Yes its an old building, but we very much enjoyed our stay here & would stay again.Thankyou

The hotel was super clean and convinient, there is a delishious izakuya restraurant right across the street. Our room had two beds with vaulted ceiling and separated kitchen with fridge, stovetop and oven, toaster, kettle, mugs, plates, utensils and glasses.They are serving breakfast(loved the croissants) and snacks in the evening with wine, crackers and cheese. The hotel is super clean, but plumbing needs updating. Dirty around the hotel and riads had constructions.

This hotel is in a great location. The atmosphere is very welcoming. The $46 valet parking was a little suprising, but still cheaper than most other hotels. Rooms are very spacious, clean with a comfortable bed. There is no A/C but the windows can be opened ( for cool ocean breeze) and they have portale fans. It is a historic building & must that way.

Ok hotel - old but maintained and reasonable. Unfortunately the radiator kept making loud noises all night intermittently. No sound proofing which means hearing street noise despite 7th floor (but somewhat expected for an inner city hotel).

The single room was in much worse condition (peeling paint, old carpet, musty smell, and window on construction site), but the double room was lovely (spacious, a big bay window, updated washroom). The bed and pillows were super comfortable. I appreciate that the room had fans for my personal use. Continental breakfast and wine and tea happy hour are better than most hotels in the area. The room is large and had a little kitchenette. On the negative side everything is dated. It’s like living in 1980 all over again.

This was a very nice property! Loved the rooms and bedding. Very comfortable. SFO is noisy city so it's not hotels fault. It's the city life. The hotel itself was nice. The room was big and spacious and the beds were comfortable. It was nice that there was a soaking bathtub. The customer service from when we checked in to when we checked out was terrible. Each person we dealt with had an attitude as if we were inconveniencing them and any issues we were experiencing were our own fault and they were quick to let us know that. For instance, we had to leave our car parked in the street (in an active lane) and ask repeatedly for them to call for the valet to come pick it up when we parked. They let us know the valet takes about 20 min to arrive since they were coming from a few blocks down, but showed no sense of urgency in calling them while we were checking in. Mostly we just got a lot of attitude. When we tried to call the front desk with a 30 min advance notice to have our car brought up our cell phones were not able to connect to the front desk. When we informed them that we had tried to call several times and that the call would not go through on either of our phones and suggested they may need to check their line, we were met with more attitude and that we were clearly the problem. Shortly after that we asked for a print out of the bill and more attitude came our way. Their systems were down (obviously since the phones weren't working) and they couldn't print and we were made to feel it was an inconvenience that we were even asking for it. Customer service here was so uninviting and as such we won't return.

Love this hotel and have always had a great experience. Wow not this time. The girl who checked us in was rude everytime there was an encounter with her. Paid for valet that comes with in and out service. When we called for our car she daid I am too busy you can walk and get your car and hung up. I called back, this time she gave me the garage to call. I did unfortunately, the individual didn't understand english and hung up on me. We had to pay for car service since we couldn't get our car. No I did not pay for valet.

The hotel itself is fine other than the lack of air-conditioning. It's a bit old but is still pretty clean. The staff at the front desk are absolutely terrible and very rude. They act like the whole world owes them something. Out of all the places I've stayed at in my entire life, the staff here are the worst! This is not an exaggeration. It's a shame they represent such a charming historic property.

Very old and not in great shape. Shower wouldn't turn off fully, no microwave, fridge didn't work. The Asian lady who works evening reception is not in the right mind any longer: very slow and frail, but also very bad attitude. Checking in took 20 minutes because she did everything so slowly and rechecked everything 3 times, including doing unnecessary things like counting price for each night by hand (3 times) when I already told her the total looks fine and exactly what I booked. The following night my key card stopped working, so I had to ask to reauthorise it. Took so long again with her and she couldn't hear my room number properly but when she finally heard it she tried to blame it on me saying that's what she said and that I didn't hear her say it because some people come in with headphones or something.

The property was located near Union Square, but on the edge of Tenderloin, which is not known to be a safe area. The windows don't shut, and emergency vehicles are going throughout the night, as well as people shouting on the street. The breakfast wasn't particularly substantial, and for those with specific dietary needs, there wasn't anything suitable. The staff was not particularly knowledgeable or helpful, and you could only contact them in person or through your cell phone. We had an issue the second night with a very loud sound coming from the old school room heater, and I knew maintenance didn't arrive until the morning. When I reported it the next morning at check out, I got a simple sorry for that. This was the worst hotel experience I have had.

Hotel was good, clean, spacious and accommodating. However the neighbourhood noise was disturbing to sleep and peace of mind. Litterally had to dodge feces on streets and visible drug use of street people. Unfortunate. Great theatre and excellent restaurants one block over.

The hotel is very old but it has charm. It’s not in the best of areas however it’s very close to Union Square, the BART, and the trams. The staff we lovely and courteous. It’s very basic but it worked well for us as we were out all day, everyday. The only we had was the noise on one night but that is out of the control of the hotel. I would stay here again.

I was in San Francisco for a conference in the Union Square area. The hotel was a short walk away so very convenient. The staff were very friendly and I was made to feel very welcome. I was staying on the second floor, which was actually downstairs and next to the street. My only regret is that people were talking outside until the early hours. Ask for a room on an upper floor.

The hotel itself is great. Staff is helpful. The building is old and historic with cool fixtures, yet well maintained. In the lobby, they provide evening snacks of wine, cheese and cookies, and in the morning there’s a continental breakfast (muffins, donuts, yogurt, tea, coffee, oatmeal, etc). The one issue is the surrounding environment. I’d never heard so many pedestrians shouting at each other at night. The area is seedy, though I’d come back to this hotel. Just take don’t walk around. Take Uber or Waymo.

Nice old fashioned hotel. The room was large and clean and the bathroom was clean. It’s centrally located close to Union Square which is great for exploring San Francisco on foot. However, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy and I wouldn’t recommend it for female solo travelers.

This property is very centrally located! A quick walk to union square. For such an old building, it is very well kept, clean and very comfortable beds! The "free breakfast" could use an update and they did charge sales tax on the parking, which I'm not sure is legal...but, I guess since the price is "fair" for that area, this is one way to compensate the fee.

The hotel is charming; it has a European feel to it. The staff is friendly, and they had a little surprise for us on New Year's Eve that enhanced my stay. They also have a wine and cheese hour in addition to breakfast, which is a nice touch. While the hotel is in an older building and not recently renovated as many reviews state, it remains a charming hotel that is clean with friendly, helpful staff. I also enjoyed having a kitchen during my stay.

Very comfortable and clean. Staff was not that friendly though. They were short tempered and impatient. We arrived really late and the person at the front desk was rude. Requested two rooms next to each other and ended up on separate hall ways. The Next morning the person was also not very friendly. Breakfast was very slim. Costco bought breakfast bars, very small variety of pastries and no cold water to drink. Only apple juice and coffee/tea. The valet was very slow.

We had a nice stay. Good room, excellent and spacious bathroom with bidet, 2 sinks, full bathtub and shower, with a terrific kitchette featuring full-size refrigerator, stove with cooktop, sink, and microwave. Breakfast was a tad uninspired - bland, cold pastries were the main feature. Overall, very satisfactory stay.

Nice breakfast and wonderful wine tasting in the afternoon. And a very friendly staff!
