Arrived at 3pm and the room was not ready. The lady said she would text me when the room was ready. After 30 mins, I checked in with the desk and they said the room was ready, but they just forgot to text me. Not impressed. The heated pool was not actually heated and there were several disappointed guests (including us). The room was clean, comfortable and charming. The coffee in the lobby was excellent and the grab and go breakfast was impressive. High quality. Overall, if the pool was actually heated, I would stay again.

Any hotel that charges a hidden "Amenities Fee" should be avoided. Beware Hotels.com telling you that all fees and taxes are included. That is FRAUDULENT.

They list the pool as heated but it is not yet heated. We booked this hotel for the heated pool.

The advertised description said there would be parking available and there was not. In San Francisco, this is a deal breaker. I feel lied to.

Cute hotel, friendly staff. Very walkable and convenient to lots of upscale shopping on Union. Fisherman’s wharf is a short drive, the Golden Gate Bridge same. Parking at the hotel is not free, but is gated and protected.

Like the security of the property. The construction causes a bit of a parking difficulty.

My family and I stayed at the Hotel del Sol in early April. The vibe was very fun. Parking was easy and the neighborhood felt very safe. It was a short walk to Chestnut Street for dining and shopping. It was also a very reasonable walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Breakfast was fine. It wasn't a hot breakfast but lots of options and we could sit out by the pool. Speaking of the pool, it's not very big but there were pool toys and the kids had lots of fun.

Although the pool was being repaired, we enjoyed an upgrade and a wonderful breakfast. Well worth it

Property has Not much to offer. The room smells terrible, we had to open the door to let the smell out, no Microwave or fridge. Very tiny room. Pastries for breakfast, yogurt etc. 24h coffee, tea, drinks which is nice. The lady who checked us in was nice to let us check in early. Not Much parking space inside the hotel but there is an overflow parking outside. Overall, an ok accommodation but will not book again.

Jenifer at the front desk was delightful! She was extremely helpful when it was discovered I had inadvertently booked two rooms for the same night instead of one room for two nights. The room was neat, tidy and looked professionally cleaned. I only wish that there would have been a microwave in the room … other than that it is a lovely place to spend a few nights.

Top service, clean room

Hotel was not as nice as the pictures, very dated. There was construction and it was a little messy in the courtyard. The room was awfully dated and there were little bugs everywhere near the tv and desk. We stayed the first night down the road at a place that outwardly didn’t look as nice but the rooms were amazing. I wish we booked the whole stay there. Hotel del Sol was overpriced because of salesforce and under delivered.

We were really disappointed with our stay at Hotel Del Sol. The room was very outdated and had a strong moldy smell, which made it uncomfortable to stay in. We even had to ask for a room change because of it. While the second room wasn’t as bad, the moldy odor was still noticeable. To make things worse, the woman working the front desk at night was unfriendly, which added to the negative experience. The only positive thing about this hotel is its location in the Marina district, which is a great area. But unfortunately, that alone isn’t enough to make up for the condition of the rooms and the service. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Had to wait an hour after check in so they could clean and prepare the room. Then after finally entering the room, the bathroom had urine on the floor around the toilet and unknown hair on the shower wall. Had good complimentary breakfast but was

This is a very sweet and thoughtfully appointed hotel. It is very safe and secure and though not truly updated it’s very clean and comfortable. Included breakfast was generous! Definitely recommend!!

We were excited for our stay here after reviewing the photos of the property online. However when we arrived we realized that these photos told an edited story (or a story that is years old). I'll begin with the outside... The courtyard was under construction - that's fine, they need to do upgrades. However, it made maneuvering into and out of courtyard parking spots very difficult. We had to actually move construction materials just to get our vehicle out of its spot. The pool needs to be re-lined as it is quite dirty. The stairs and outdoor "hallways" are carpeted and in a wet city like San Francisco it left them in a state of smelling constantly wet. Now for the rooms. The photos of these are obviously staged as the decor is actually very sparse - not really that big of a deal, just don't expect what you see online. The room smelled of mildew, the carpet seemed wet and we found mold on the window in the bathroom. This really aggravated my families allergies and while we travel with an air purifier we couldn't get the room air to feel comfortable. We stayed in a room on the second floor and there were multiple soft spots in the floor where it feels like the flooring under the carpet is rotting..... The staff that we did interact with was very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is great, walkable with shopping and restaurants and conveniently located behind the Marina District.

This property has bed bugs. After showing the front desk photos of the bugs, they guaranteed we would get a full refund after talking with the general manager. We had to book a new room last minute. The general manager was unreachable after multiple attempts to contact him from our end and Expedia's. This property shouldn't be listed on Expedia - they have a shady general manager and the bugs are a health code violation. Huge was of money and a big inconvenience to have to rebook a hotel last minute.

I dont know who, but someone decided to not put blackout curtains into the rooms which is ridiculous. There is bright lights infront of the window and it looks like the sun is rising when the blinds are closed, through out the entire night. Nothing for light sleepers.

Bare bones hotel with boutique touches like an evening barbecue and continental breakfast better than most. We could hear our neighbor who woke up early and cleared the TV. There aren’t refrigerators in the rooms, The staff is all very friendly and helpful I would definitely stay here again

Such excellent storage in room with closet, shelves, drawers. Has a mini-fridge. Liked the wireless charger and extra plugs on nightstand. Clean, very comfortable beds with lots of quality pillows. Since there is a lot of car window smashing in area, I thought the fee for interior (gated) parking was very high. Room price was high enough that it should have covered cost of interior parking.

The staff at the Del Sol are very helpful and friendly. The area where the hotel is a very convenient for visiting lots of fun attractions. We wished that we had known that the patio area was under construction and that the rooms didn't have mini fridges

Hotel Del Sol was a nice surprise. It's rooms are well decorated, current, very clean, with a nice vibe. Lots of international travelers here. Breakfast was a total surprise with local good coffee and fresh pastries that were delicious. Exceeded my expectaitons. The pool was under some construction so didn't get to use it. Rooms were not super quiet which I didn't expect with the layout, and the bed linens were very nice. Mattress very soft and not the best. Overall good value and great location. Very close to Union Street area and also the Marina. I will stay here again.

The place would be five stars if they just put curtains that blocked the lights.

This is a cute little hotel. We had to do some testing at UCSF and only needed to stay 1 night. The staff are friendly. It is a little confusing getting into the lobby. The door has a sign with an arrow to use other door but there isn’t another door. There’s a gate that you need to push a “doorbell” and they’ll let you in. A sign would really help cut down on the confusion. The rooms could use a bit more of an upgrade. The shower head is only about 5 feet high and the water pressure is quite low. It took awhile to wash my shampoo and soap off. The main issue with the room is that it only has blinds on the window, no curtains. So the light outside just beams into the room all night making you think it’s morning all night. Some thick hotel curtains would perfectly remedy the problem. The beds aren’t that comfortable and the blowdryer didn’t work. The gfi switch had a light that said “when red, replacement needed”. If we had to stay longer, these issues would have been annoying. The breakfast was ok, a standard continental with pastries, yogurt, bagels etc. It really could be a true gem with a few tweaks.

Throughout our stay, other attendants were very helpful with food suggestions and best way to get around the city. Continental breakfast was very good and seemed fresh, not packaged. Great variety and coffee/tea was excellent. Location was perfect. So much to walk around to see and do near Cow Hollow. We always felt safe in the area when walking around late. Room was pretty clean, maybe a 4. it could’ve used a little dusting. Bed was comfortable, however, small for 2 people. We were a family of 4, two teenagers/two adults. And the two double beds was tight. I knew it would be when booking, but I wanted to book this hotel and nothing else was available as far as bigger beds. Window covering is just blinds, so a black out curtain would be nice. Overall, we loved our stay. Super cute place and great location!

Check in was smooth. Our room was dated but clean. The only issue was our upstairs neighbors who were noisy all night. While that isn't the hotel's fault, it is an older building and noise does go through those walls.

The bathroom was tiny, we could barely have one person move in there. The room was the same story.

Booked for 2 nights last week from Thursday 06/26/25 to Saturday 06/28/25. The hotel (motel) didn’t have any microwave or small fridge to store or heat our food. On Friday, 06/27/25, there were no hot water. They didn’t notify us. I went down to talk to the front desk and they said that they would talk to Expedia to confirm that I did cancel the 2nd night with a refund for the night on top of other fees. No answering phone calls or returning emails.

I'm so glad I chose this property for our trip to San Francisco! The hotel is clean and so cute. The beds are very comfortable. Loads of wonderful restaurants in easy walking distance and the neighborhood felt very safe. The entire staff was amazing! Friendly, engaging, knowledgeable about the area. I can't say enough about how wonderfully we were treated!

Clearly and older motel that has been updated and has lots of charm. Our room was very clean and comfortable, no refrigerator or microwave though. The kids enjoyed the pool, the staff even brought out a few balls they’d found for the kids to play with. The hotels colors are vibrant with cute door placards. The breakfast was a bunch of pastries and yogurt, if you have picky eaters there’s not much (bagels, toast, croissants, bran muffins, etc). We wound up eating in one day and out 2 other days. You take the breakfast back to your room or to the common space outdoors. I actually feel like when I booked this hotel there was little to no parking fee which is why I chose it. I was surprised to get a $40 per night parking bill with a bunch of taxes and fees. This was not discussed at check in. Between the parking and tourism fees we wound up with a $205 bill I wasn’t expecting. Pay close attention to that at booking, maybe even screenshot it. I wish I had. All in all a great family hotel, we would stay again!

The hotel had a good location, and was clean, and felt safe. The room was basic, but comfortable. The main problem was that the occupants of the room below mine were ridiculously loud. All through the night (truly....until 5am), they listened to loud music, used raised voices, and watched loud movies. I felt like I was sleeping (or trying to sleep) above a night club. The first night, I just endured. I told the front desk about the noise, and they said to call the front desk if that happened again. The next night it was the same loud situation, so I called the front desk 3 times. The first time, they said they couldn't hear anything when they walked past the room. That was at 10:30pm. I called again at 3:30am, and the front desk said they would take care of it. I heard them go and talk to the folks below us. They got quiet for a while. I was awoken again at 5am, and called the front desk again. They told me that the only other thing they could do was to call the police, That seemed like overkill, so I told them to forget it. When I went to the office the following morning, I found out that that room was checking out of the hotel. That night we slept just fine. There were no noise issues at all. My big frustration is that after two nights of obnoxious behavior by someone else in the hotel, we were not offered any type of compensation. We stayed three nights (and had two rooms), but could really only get a decent night's sleep one of those nights.

Great location with lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance. Parking is secure, so no need to worry about car break ins. Good for families too!

It was so cute. The staff was welcoming. Beautiful and quiet and very close to all things San Fran. We loved it.

This place was charming and sunny with a great breakfast. The staff was extremely kind and helpful in every interaction. Easy walk from the hotel to Ghirardelli square and Fisherman’s Wharf too.

great location near my son's apartment on Union Street, farmers market, clean, and nice staff. person on 3rd floor above me was heavy footed and making noise at 5;00AM daily so a bit annoying. also on corner room by street and it was a bit noisy at times but realize it was the weekend.

Good take-away breakfast. Kind staff. The sofa was a bit squeaky. The shower has a good stream of hot water. Nice experience overall.

Breakfast is excellent and variated! Very good pastries and fruits everyday Cookies juice and coffee and hot chocolate in the afternoon… perfect with kids! Nice spot to explore by walking, buses or car! I would definitely return there if necessary!

Hotel Del Sol is in a convenient area of San Francisco. Restaurants are within walkable distance. The rooms were quiet, although small. We liked that the bathroom light was on a motion detector so if we had to get up during the night the bathroom light came on automatically. Nice touch. Our room did not have a mini-fridge. Would have liked that. Breakfast was basic. The advertised pool was empty and looks like it has not been filled for quite some time based on older hotel reviews. Parking in the hotel lot was convenient.

Just okay experience. Random impressions in no order. The motels in this area of the city are mostly old and somewhat rundown. The surrounding restaurants and shops are quite nice. Fairly clean and comfortable. Morning continental breakfast was adequate, certainly nothing special. Pool literally backs up to the street.

The staff were personable, helpful and friendly. The pool was warm and deep for my kids to dive into. The breakfast was ON POINT and it was fun to eat out in the courtyard. You're well located for some great restaurants, the marina area for views of the bridge, and a short walk (uphill!) to Lombard Street and a cable car ride downtown.

I stayed here for two nights in July. The courtyard was cordoned off for construction and the pool looked filthy. The hotel was okay. Nothing special, nothing overly dreadful but certainly nothing to get excited about. The reception staff seemed weary. There is very little parking but there is an overflow lot opposite. The breakfast is fine but there are only a few tables to sit at.

The breakfast pastries were very nice served with good coffee. It was really nice to see so many European families. The outdoor courtyard area was very nice and clean
