I liked the self check in and self checkout process, very easy and efficient.

Nothing unique, I did not like no refrigerator or microwave in room or lobby

Comfortable bed Quiet Prime Location Excellent Coffee offered in morning Filtered water available

No parking option, had to park on a parking garage

Hotel is nice and clean, with that being said, the amenities are non-existent. Called front desk to ask for something for my room, never got an answer. House keeping arrives at 8 "they" make the coffee, don\'t expect anything before then. I stayed for 3 nights. Firsts morning went down to get coffee around 6;45, coffee was luke warm, I was not gonna complain about warm coffee but thought it was odd that coffee was warm so early in the morning (now I realize it was From the night before) and no creamer, asked front desk if I could get some creamer, front said wouldn\'t be ready until after 8. Okaaayy? Second morning went down 8:10-no coffee said it be about 10 mins. Okay sat down waited for another 15 house keeping girl rushing in with a grocery bag, full of oranges (only fruit they offer) and a big carton of creamer. Left, came back with a cart of coffee, and began refilling stir sticks, and coffee station necessities. Okay we\'re good Third and final morning came down 8:10, no coffee, front desk said be ready at 8:45?? Irritated I went across the street to Starbucks, came back 10 mins later 8:20 Coffee was there, so frustrating! How hard is it for front desk to make coffee? Even old hotels know to have coffee station available. 3ipads for self-checking. They do nothing! Also, No parking, payed almost $150 ($45) per day to park in parking garage. Stayed 3 nights, would never stay again!! Don’t let pictures fool you!

Absolutely loved my hotel room, such a cool and beautiful hotel. The fire escape balcony’s give it a little New York feel 😊 and love the security! You need your key card to get in the front door so that means people can’t just be randomly entering the building.

The hotel was newly renovated and very clean. The rooms were small but fine for an overnight stay. There is no A/C, and the high was 75 outside that day but the room was super hot. Radiator was not on in the room but it was stifling. Slept on top of the sheets with almost nothing on, ceiling fan on high, and just sweated all night. The area around the hotel is full of empty bldgs and permanently closed businesses. The smell of urine and Marijuana is everywhere along with the homeless. I had business in the area but was glad to leave as soon as possible.

Sheets had holes in them- no water drinking glass- no turn down service- the absolute minimum in terms of expectations

People were fine they answered any question we had. We weren’t given the room I originally booked, the sheets had dried blood. They changed them as soon as we told them. The room view was an A/C machine but the room had no A/C. Overall it gave the impression of newly renovated to modern look but service and cleanliness isn’t matching. It just did what we needed though which was a place to stay so it’s not a bad price for just that but that’s all. Also, this is more of an Expedia experience but I kept seeing the price fluctuate from 109-150 and instead of honoring it for the cost I was just given the difference in credit but for the experience I had I wish I just cancelled and rebooked at the cheaper price with the hotel.

Room is dusty. Room is cold (I had a blanket brought in) No trash can in the room (I was brought a trash can during our stay)

Great location to the cable cars, shopping and ball park. Little noisy and had to kill a cockroach but only saw one. The room was very clean.

There are Cockroaches in the room. There is no room service, no change of towels.

Shower was missing gaskets so water leaked everywhere.

This is hotel is perfect for sight seeing. The location is just right if you want to ride to the bay on the cable car. The hotel is a small size, quiet, clean and comfortable. I'd aboslutely stay here agin when no doubt I come back to visit in the future. There are breakfast options in the hotel but plenty of eateries in the area.

Very modern and close to most things. You can hop right onto the cable car from here! Rooms are very tiny and some of the rooms have the sink and mirror outside of the bathroom as an FYI.

There's many shops and places to eat nearby. Room was smaller than I expected but honestly I was out on the town anyways. No fault of the hotel but the homeless issue is bad in the city.

We were in SF for 3 nights and this boutique hotel served our needs. It was clean and cozy. Good for single traveler or couples. I personally wouldn't stay here with family/kids due to the size of the rooms. There's no AC in the room, only ceiling fan but thanks to SF's cool weather during our visit, we were comfortable. It didn’t get too hot/cold for us. We did open the windows a few times when it got a little stuffy. The room does remind me of a studio. They're also not sound proof. You can hear every footstep, conversation and door closing in the hallway and from your neighbors room. I do wish they had a small fridge though. Check-in and check out was quick. Con: Need better shower door. Every time we showered there was a puddle of water on the floor. The hotel is right across the street from Union Square and close to stores like Nintendo, Macy's, Trader Joe's and high end shops (Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Saint Laurent etc). There's restaurant, cafes and bars nearby. The streets around the hotel were busy and bustling with people throughout the day, but found the area to be sketchy at night so we wrapped up playing tourist by 10pm. The hotels location made catching Lyft and Waymo very convenient. Would stay here again for short/budget friendly trips.

Pros: -Friendly and helpful front desk staff -Clean lobby / clean rooms -Across the street from Union Square and Union Square underground parking garage -Cable cars outside the front door Cons: -The hotel bathrooms have barn doors, so there is no real privacy. You will get bathroom smells and shower steam wafting into your bedroom -There is no A/C, and you think you don’t need it because its SF…but the room was very stuffy -The room fan was not balanced, therefore was noticeably loud while trying to sleep -The tv had a high pitched sound that would not turn off, even if the tv was turned off. You cannot unplug it because the outlet is on the ceiling. It was impossible to get a good night’s rest

Unbeatable location in downtown San Francisco - I chose the smallest room option as I was traveling solo and it felt spacious by all means! The bathroom was very high-end. The hotel is fully refurbished all areas though you may be able to hear loud rattling sounds (of the water pipes I believe) at night especially if you are an early sleeper you might find it a bother - but by midnight it was all quiet. For the price, I find this hotel an absolute gem.

As much as I want to leave a positive review there is some negatives which we experienced. The hotel is clean and quiet but we were there for 5nights and the room dont allow for any unpacking. Consider this if you stay longer than a night or two. The room was not cleaned once while we were there. I asked mid way through for new towels but they never came. The safe in room was a plus but then after locking it we could not open it again. We had to call down twice to reception with the receptionist not having much care to assist. Finally when my husband visited reception did she call for some help which took another hour to get to our passports and money. The reception also acts as a check in for what we assume is the backbackers around the corner. The hotel itself is tidy and is very central and we cant complain if it was for a night or two. Just felt that it was an effort for the girls behind the desk to be there.

The check-in staff were really lovely and polite, and they kindly accommodated my request to store my medication in their fridge as my room didn’t have one, which I really appreciated. The room itself was clean, modern, and very comfortable – just perfect for a couple of nights. The location is also excellent, within walking distance of the train station, public transport, shopping, and plenty of places to eat. Overall, a great stay and I’d happily return.

Hotel Stratford, despite my advance, confirmed reservation through Expedia, had no room available for me, and instead gave me a room in a "sister" hotel called the Bartlett, which was about a half a block away. It appeared the hotel was undergoing renovations. It was shabby, cramped, with the barest of furnishings. I\'m not even sure there was mattress on the bed, it was low to the ground and very firm, like a box spring. The front desk was unmanned, and one accessed the main door, a second security door and the elevator using a room key. When I originally checked in at the Stratford, and they advised of the hotel change, I asked them how much for the room, and they advised me it would be no charge and advised me that they would initiate a refund through Expedia, but that would take sometime to process. It seems like some type of scam... You book one hotel, then when you arrive, the switch you to a lesser property. I stopped back to the Strttford front desk a couple of other times and each time heard them doing the same thing to other customers with reservations. If the Stratford does not request a refund of room charges, I am requesting a refund. I feel that I was mislead and cheated out of the hotel and room that I had originally reserved and booked. Thank you.

Heater wasn’t working and they immediately upgraded my room! The staff was wonderful.

The hotel is lovely, clean and fairly modern. The room was clean and there was everything we needed. The only downside I would say is that the staff aren’t all that interested in the guests. When I checked in the man in reception barely looked up at me or welcomed us, he mumbled a lot, and it genuinely felt like we were putting him out. Great position right next to union square and all the main shopping areas so I would stay again, and the staff issue is not the biggest thing just feel they could improve in this area.

Took forever to check in

Amazing! I arrived early to SF and my room was ready, so I managed to check in early. Great area, close to transportation, shops, room was very clean and nice. I would recommend!

Our stay at Hotel Stratford was great. Check-in was quick and simple, the location is super centric, just one block away from several metro/Muni/BART/cable car stations. The room was a little bit smaller than anticipatef but tbh, you don’t need more if you’re going as a tourist or for business since you’re going to the hotel just to sleep. One thing though, there is no cleaning services as in most hotels, you have to ask for it 24 hrs in advice. Overall, pretty good experience.

Liked that it’s on one of the cable car routes. Has a clean and modern feel. Nice job on the restomod. Most hotels like this don’t have parking or breakfast. Once i wrapped my head around that, then i really appreciated the property. We walked most everywhere in the area. Really nice restaurants on powell st like Loris Diner, Sears Fine Food, Mels Drive in isn’t very far. Cheesecake Factory is around the corner. SF doesn’t have a lot of franchise fast food but there is a mcdonalds, burger king and starbucks nearby. We preferred the local restaurants. Walgreen’s pharmacy is nearby too. Walked to market street and took the F train to the Ferry building and fisherman’s wharf. Then U can take the 28 bus route on North Point st to the Goldengate Bridge. There’s two different 28 routes so get the one back to the wharf when you go back. I bought day passes on the Muni App but no one checked it. Only showed it once on the cable car.

Good location was near cable car started pointed at market street. Nice staff will help you for staying. Very clean room but must notice at staff before go out. Overall, very appropriate about this hotel.

The location is excellent. You can be at the cable car, BART, or Muni in under a minute. For it being in the center of everything, the hotel seemed pretty quiet. My room was small, but I could tell that it seemed recently renovated. Totally suitable for a single traveler. Would definitely stay here again!

I had an excellent stay at The Stratford Hotel in San Francisco! The location could not have been better-right in the heart of the city, with easy access to all the sights, shops, and restaurants I wanted to explore. It made getting around so convenient and really gave me the full San Francisco experience I was looking for. The room itself was cozy, clean, and comfortable, creating the perfect space to relax after a day of exploring. It had a charming feel that made me feel right at home. While the hotel doesn’t have air conditioning, the weather was absolutely perfect during my stay. I was able to keep the window open the whole time and enjoy the fresh San Francisco breeze, which actually added to the experience. Overall, The Stratford delivered exactly what I was hoping for. A comfortable, welcoming stay in a prime location. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting San Francisco and will absolutely consider staying here again on my next trip!

The first room we got was small and had flies. We got different room soon enough which was bigger. The room is small, doesn't look like the picture. The sink is in the room and not in the bath room. No coffee machine an cleaning is only on demand , which nobody told us and is not what proclaimed in the wec site. On the first morning we had no breakfast , I didnt understand why. We were sent to a near by cafe and were told that we will get a discount there. Of course we didnt. The breakfast at the hotel was poor: only one cup of coffee and either one pastry or a cup of yogurt and granola. Everything else or more is by payment. All in all, quiet dissaponting. Especially because the pictures in the site are so misleading

The hotel is really beautifully decorated as it has a great mix of mid century modern aesthetic with a classic vibe. The hotel room was smaller than I expected, but great for just me on the trip. Overall great experience, also don’t forget to get the breakfast package.

Its located at a convenient place. Next to union square and metro and cable car stop. Neat and clean place with very helpful staff. They have to work on breakfast menu. Our stay included breakfast. In breakfast you could get one cup of coffee and one crossand or cinnamon bun. I never never had that limited breakfast options. Though they have a good breakfast sitting area. They need to improve their breakfast options.

Exceptional, highly recommended, friendly staff and the added extra coffee, sparkling water, high varieties of tea and fruits as well in the common cafe. Loved the stay here.

Thd property has been renovated recently and did a greag job. Sfaff very friendly. The only thing wax that coffee would bd ready after 8.30 and if you get up earlier you hsvf to go to Starbucks cross street. Other than that is a perfect location.

Fabulous location. Glad to have good coffee at the the cafe next door. Nice amenities.
