walls are SUPER thin - was woken up 3 days in a row with shower turning on in the adjacent room. The "gym" was maybe a 10x15 foot room with hardly anything. Dumbbells up to 30 lbs. Some of the attachments they had were broken. 1 bike and 1 treadmill. overall experience was old, and out of date. The bed was comfy, as were the pillows - so, they got that going for them

The location was perfect. There is a Target and a park nearby. Stops for the bus, tram and trolley were close as well. Unfortunately, the hot water was not working nor was not communicated to guests in a timely manner. I called the front desk at 11pm to inquire about it and left the hotel by 7:30am the next day. A letter was distributed at later in day, but we didn't get back to the hotel until much later to find this out and were too exhausted to find other accommodations. This was night 2 of our stay. Except for this, the stay was good. The staff was very accomodating. The hotel is older; therefore, there are some cosmetic issues. However, our room was cleaned early each day. On the last day, our flight was late in the evening, and the hotel allowed us to leave our four bags until we came back before our flight. Also, we bought our hotel/flight to include breakfast through the hotel. It was a nice way to start our day with a sit down breakfast that was located at a restaurant next door. Coffee or juice was included, and we only left a tip each day. Overall, a good experience especially for the price.

You, Orbitz, had this hotel listed under a search string that queried parking included with room. That was no the case. It was $50 for parking. Had your search strings worked properly I would have booked a room that had free parking. This is lame.

It was a grand older hotel in the middle of Soma, which gave us easy access to great restaurants and shopping, as well as being a quick Uber ride to other attractions. The gym was good, and the staff were excellent. Would stay there again.

Avoid this place if you plan to use the internet in the evenings. Speeds drop to usable (e.g. .1 Megabit). You won't be able to send emails. You won't be able to stream movies. You won't be able to surf the web. This happened all four nights I was there. The front desk said, "Oh, that's because everyone is using it." Duh! Apparently management has decided to not spend the money to provide 21st century internet. Go somewhere else where they respect their guests. Shout-out to Oliver who had Doordash leave my order outside my room rather than in the lobby. Why don't all the front desk people do that?

The experience here was not what I expected at all… to begin, the description states there is self parking available, which there wasn’t. They only have ‘valet’ service, but you park your own car. We parked in a space where there was a single space, not two parking spaces (with one in front of the other), and we had our pick up truck. Perfect space to park it. Our car was moved to a different area of the garage and parked behind another vehicle. Moving our truck was unnecessary. The ‘valet’ service only keeps your car keys and charges you $60. You pick up your own car…. So we wanted our refund due to incorrect description of services but they ignored the calls and when I spoke to the lady at the front desk, she immediately cut me off and gave me attitude, speaking in a rude tone. As far as the room, it’s a basic room, nothing special about it. It did smell like cigarettes and the smoke detector was pulled off. The morning staff did not acknowledge us as we walked out and back in during our morning walk. No hello, no eye contact, no smile. They don’t communicate you have to pay for the ‘valet’ service during check out, and we went down and up and back down with our luggage to pay for the garage parking. Overall hospitality was a big negative and will not be returning to this hotel.

The room was fine, but the hallway had an unpleasant smell and the gym/cardio room was in disrepair. The treadmill was missing pieces, including the magnet that allows it to function. It had been replaced with something else that took a lot ofmessing with to get it to connect.

The on site restaurant and bar had great food and friendly staff. We had two appetizers, burrata and bruschetta and shared spinach ravioli. It was all excellent and the price way reasonable. The room was small but it was nice and the bed and pillows were comfortable.

As soon as I entered the room, it was clear it had not been properly cleaned—dirty linens, towels, tub, and carpets. The overall condition was unacceptable and unsanitary. I reported this immediately, but the staff was unhelpful, unfriendly, and refused to issue a refund. They offered to clean the room instead, so I gave them the opportunity while I attended an event. However, upon returning, nothing had been addressed—the room was still in the same filthy condition. At that point, I requested to cancel due to the health concerns and overall discomfort. This entire situation was incredibly inconvenient, especially while traveling with my kids. I had to scramble to find another hotel last minute, which ended up being an hour outside the city, forcing us to drive in the early morning hours past. To make matters worse, no manager was available at the time, and I was told I’d have to wait until Sunday to speak with someone regarding a refund. The lack of accountability and support made an already stressful situation even worse.

The staff at this property were lovely and very accomodating. The location was great as well since it was so close to market street and union road. The only negatives were the smell of urine in the lobby and landing in front the elevator. The hotel is old so the rooms were in decent shape considering the age but the carpet in the room did trigger allergies in those susceptible to them.

I stayed here 10+ years ago and it looks like they haven’t done anything to it to maintain. Some broken fixtures and major wear and tear. The fabric chairs in the lobby are so incredibly dirty and worn out. The rooms have chipped paint and stains on the ceilings. The cleaners aren’t cleaning the mugs and only wiping them out, the counters in the room were sticky. I bought some Clorox wipes and cleaned the room and bathroom after they came in and cleaned it. It has little to do with the staff and everything to do with the owners. They will need to step it up or they are going to loose major business. I won’t be back unless they solve the problems. With that said, the building is cool, it is a boutique hotel and it is charming. So with the deferred maintenance resolved and some staff training, this place could be great again, like it was.

Kinda clean cept for the mold in the bathroom. Says they have breakfast, what they mean is there is a place to buy breakfast down the street. Says the have a bar / lounge, what they mean is there is a bar/ lounge next door open sometimes... Not what i was expecting.

Absolutely loved this hotel. It is central to so many things. Right off Market Street with plenty to do and places to eat. The area around the hotel is a little run down but it’s because it’s downtown in a large city and right off of a major square. The outside of the hotel and lobby look a little tired but The rooms were more than expected. Modernized, quiet and comfy. The Kuerig and ceramic cups were an added treat for me - no drinking coffee out of a cheap paper cup. Hotel security is top notch Requiring your room key card to enter the hotel and scan to punch your floor number on the elevator. Definitely would choose this hotel again-it helped make our SF trip better!

There was an extremely loud machine grinding mouning sound that shook the room all night. The front desk didn't and told us they couldn't do anything about it. And the room was dirty. I don't think they ever cleaned under the bed

I love historic hotels and I’ve been curious about Pickwick for a long time. The front desk staff were top notch. Professional & friendly. I always felt safe, even though it’s supposedly a sketchy neighborhood. The bed in my room was insanely comfortable. But. I was disappointed that a Superior King Room w/ City View had only dirty windows onto an alley. I was jarred awake at 1 am by neighbors having loud carnal relations next door. Listen, more power to them. But I could hear every word they said. Not yelling. Talking. The walls are thin apparently. And what a grand beautiful place this could be with a coat of paint and a carpet steamer! It’s a shame really. I feel like SF is making a come back & I’m sincerely rooting for Pickwick to be part of that. But someone needs to give the place some love.

Good location and close to Union Square. Issues were that the AC wasn’t working at all, otherwise no issues with the room. They have done amazing upgrades to the room, still some outdated features like an old iHome side table clock with an original 30-pin iPod dock connector (almost 20 years old) for music connectivity. The drawers would slide open on their own and the bathroom door handle would not latch, could only keep it shut by locking it while in there. While these things need fixing, the rest of the stay, staff and cleanliness were amazing. Will definitely stay again!

Staff is great, room is cheap (budget) condition carpet and paint and quite dated, and a bit noisy. However for a cheap safe place to stay in S.F. it is fine. It is not a honeymoon destination by any stretch. But fine for a business traveler or student on a tight budget.

The Pickwick is in an excellent part of town for going any number of places. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the room had quite possibly the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever enjoyed. The building is old and in need of several upgrades, yet overall I'm glad we stayed there.

Myself and my partner stayed here whilst sightseeing for 3 nights. The hotel is secure, and requires a room key for access and the staff were very lovely and accommodating. There are lots of homeless people situated directly outside and in the surrounding area. We arrived late on the first night and were put in a room high up on the front of the hotel. The room was extremely noisy from traffic and homeless people shouting outside for hours so we asked if we could be moved. Ayo who was on the front desk couldn’t have been more helpful and he showed us numerous rooms which were available and even let us go to the rooms to see which one was the least noisy. This was very much appreciated and we were able to move rooms with no issue. The hotel is old and could do with being renovated however it was fine for a few nights and had everything we needed.

The Pickwick Hotel was central to a conference I was attending and was exactly what I needed during my trip. The people at the front desk and the housekeeper, Marie, were always so friendly as I came/went and they were even kind enough to let me do a late checkout (2pm) my last day there - which I cannot tell you how much I appreciated, as I was also grieving the recent loss of my twin sister and just needed that extra time before facing the day. Thank you Pickwick Staff!!! I'll definitely stay there again next year for my conference.

The Pickwick Hotel was a great stay in SF! Close to Union Square, transportation for Cable Cars, BART or the MUNI were only a block away. We visited the wharf and went to a baseball game with ease. The staff was VERY friendly and helped us to find the right transportation. The rooms were very clean and great. The SOMA Restaurant next door was also great. We will stay here again!!

The staff at the front desk were all highly professional, willing to accommodate my reasonable needs (eg extending checkout time till 1pm, reserving the taxi for my trip to the airport, holding my luggage until the night, and purchasing my hop-in hop-out bus tour access with a 10% discount they brought to my attention. It is a secure bulging as only people with a key can enter or use the elevator. There is a nice Italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel (lunch and dinner) and reasonably priced. A few doors away there is a breakfast place too. The room I was assigned to didn’t have an attractive view, but that meant it was not facing the road and was very quiet. I appreciated this feature. The walls are thin, so I could hear my neighbors talking. They, however, were reasonable people and not noisy late at night, and holding friendly conversations among themselves. So the ambiance was nice. Although the bathroom door had scratches and some pieces of furniture looked a little worn out, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the availability of a desk area was nice. The closet is of good size, perfect for dresses. There were many drawers around the room for clothing. The room had the necessary items to iron and to dry one’s hair. I appreciated the fact that the lights went off automatically, and were motion sensitive. I had a nice stay.

The Pickwick is our favorite place to stay for attending Giants games, visiting SF MOMA, and seeing other sights. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel restaurants/bar is a convenient option with Italian/Mediterranean options. Rooms are minimal and small, but adequate. Easy access to BART and Muni. The neighborhood around the hotel can be a little sketchy at night, but that’s expected for downtown/SOMA area.

Located just a few blocks from a bart station, but the area was fairly sketchy. But that seems to be the case up and down market street. It’s fairly close to the tenderloin area which is a known open air drug market. Be aware of your surroundings and you should be ok. Hotel was great.

Overall good hotel and I will stay here again when staying overnight in the city. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance and shopping. When you come to SF, expect to see homeless. I felt safe walking outside the hotel even at midnight. Hotel key is required to enter the hotel and elevator and parking was underground In a small garage and secure at all times.

Great location - one block from the Powell Street station, both the modern station and the historical cable car line, which I highly recommend taking to Fisherman's Wharf. Our primary purpose was to go to Oracle Park. This is a no frills and older boutique hotel, but it was a comfortable place to sleep.

We found it odd to be buzzed in but appreciate why since it is very close to the Tenderloin. Has a great mezzanine for online meetings. On the last night there was a lot of street noise as people were cleaning the former treasury building across the street, but reception people were considerate and professional.

Very good stay. Pickwick is a 4-minute walk from the Powell BART station and the Powell cable car turnaround. Plenty of restaurants and bars in around the hotel. The bar and restaurant connected to Pickwick is good. Overall service at Pickwick is excellent.

We stayed here because we attended a NYE event at The Mint across the street. The location was perfect. We enjoyed a great dinner at Soma Restaurant, good food and quick service. In the morning we walked to two great restaurants for breakfast (MO’z Cafe and Zevi) and felt completely safe. The hotel is old and the room was small but had everything we needed including an in room mini fridge. We had a problem with the toilet flushing but my husband was able to fix it lol.

The hotel was cute, clean, and a good value for SF. Front desk staff were friendly though a little low on clean towels. My main complaint was the breakfast tickets I paid for in advance. The restaurant next door is a separate business and clearly a little irritated by customers with these tickets and the service showed that compared to other guests despite tipping well. I’d encourage the hotel to reconsider this partnership if the restaurant staff are unhappy about honoring the coupon they agreed to. The breakfast was delicious but it might be a better value to just pay as a regular customer.
