Convenient location but the hotel looks nothing like the photos. The roof garden has nothing up there but a couple tables with no one around. Appears to not be in use really except for just to sit. No candles on tables or anything. Our key card stopped working 5 times in two nights and 3 days.

For our second stay in San Francisco we did not hesitate in choosing this hotel again. Well situated near the Chinatown Gate it is friendly, well appointed and extremely clean. The room was not large, but we didn't spend a lot of time there with all our sightseeing. The rooftop garden area was a great area to watch the sunset with a pre-dinner drink. The hotel does breakfast only, but there are plenty of options for other meals in the area.

Our flight came in early and we arrived a couple hours before check in time. Ridhi, the front desk agent, was able to get us into a room sans an early check in fee. We slept well, room was clean, no complaints. The free water station on the 7th floor was really convenient (water tasted good too!).

This hotel is a gem! The check-in was so fast and convenient. It was the easiest and fastest check-in I think I have ever had. I booked the incorrect room (a king stead of double bed), and they were able to upgrade the second room free of charge. They have a Keurig in the room with creamer and sugar. They have a carafe for water and they have a filtered water system on the first floor and the seventh floor. There are also glasses provided. The water is delicious, and it’s so nice to have that feature and to not constantly have to buy water from stores or vendors. There is a refrigerator in every room. The beds are incredibly comfortable. Spacious bathrooms. We went to North Beach and got some wine and they uncorked it for us and we were able to have a few drinks on the rooftop garden. It’s beautiful! It’s steps away from Chinatown! It’s incredibly close to Union Square and some of the downtown shopping. It’s not far from Fisherman’s Wharf or the Embarcadero. And the hotel and staff are lovely! Book this hotel!

The hotel is clean and no frills. But the reviews I’d read had touted it as a boutique hotel with great linens. The hotel was a bit run-down, and the towels were those scratchy white towels you get at the gym. The elevators have brass panels that are covered in fingerprints. Just little things that could be improved to make the overall feel nicer.

Stayed here for one weekday evening for a work offsite. Easy check in and check out and centrally located just outside the dragon gates to China town and walking distance to downtown or towards the trans America pyramid. Room had a slight odor upon entry but went away eventually after I turned on the air. Hotel was overall clean and quiet and no issues - comfortable for a one night stay.

Great location - walkable to a lot of tourist sites and many transit options within a few blocks (with few or no hills to climb!) Didn't have any view from our room, but room was reasonable size. Not the fanciest hotel, but very good for what we paid.

I had a very comfortable stay- the room was clean, the bed was great, and the Wi-Fi worked well. There are also plenty of food options nearby. I’m giving it 4/5 mainly because the hotel is pretty bare-bones. The gym is tiny (not a big issue for me), and if you’re looking for extras like parking, breakfast, or other amenities, this probably isn’t the right fit. The on-site restaurant is only open in the mornings, but since there’s lots of food nearby, that wasn’t a problem. For my work trip, where I just needed a quiet place to sleep, it was perfect.

We selected this hotel for its location and the promise of a quiet stay. We ended up staying two non-consecutive nights. The first night our room looked onto Bush street and the late night and early morning traffic noise was noticable. The second night we stayed in an internal room overlooking the next building and it was substantially quieter. The hotel itself has seen better days, especially the furnishings, but overall as a place to sleep it was entirely satisfactory. It is located immediately adjacent to Chinatown and is an easy walk to Market street, the financial district and the ferry terminal. Breakfast is available in the hotel and there is a very small gym also.

This is hotel was ok. There is one lady at reception (unfortunately don’t know her name) who was really lovely when we checked out. We were disappointed in the views from the room (looked onto another room’s window and a building opposite with builders): privacy wasn’t great. We also expected self-laundry facilities but there was only a (very expensive) hotel service. We also requested that our sheets were changed, and they were not. Staff could generally have been more welcoming and helpful with bags when we arrived in the pouring rain. We had a problem with our passports 1.5 weeks prior to arrival and our online query was never responded to. The area is also not very safe: there is a big drug problem in downtown San Francisco that is not just restricted to the notorious Tenderloin area. I would therefore not recommend going out at night or staying here as a solo traveller.

I booked Orchard Gardens last-minute and couldn’t have been more surprised and pleased! They got me checked in early, all staff were super friendly and helpful, and they texted me each morning to check in if there was anything I needed. They followed through on any requests I made and stored my luggage before and after check in and check out. I am absolutely coming back!

Definitely nowhere close to 4 star although conveniently located and somewhat safe. We got woken up by an annual fire alarm which they forgot to tell us about upon check in. Not cool, it was super scary and uber loud. To make matters worse, nobody even apologized… It was an OK and cheap enough hotel to stay as we had a flight at 1145 pm out of SFO and just wanted to have a room until it was time to go. If I was coming back on vacation, I would stay clear away from this place. It’s dated and just very so so. Three star property (but barely). Unless you are trying to save money, there are plenty of much nicer properties very close by.

Staff was exceptional being very patient, friendly & accommodating. Was able to pay little extra for later checkout & worth it since able to freely enjoy 2nd day of Chinatown festival. Room was private (having no room behind so offered headboard lighting & extra city view). Loved soothing, tea-scented toiletries. Excellent & enjoyable hotel stay (again much attributed to outstanding professional lobby staffers).
Staff was exceptional being very patient, friendly & accommodating. Was able to pay little extra for later checkout & worth it since able to freely enjoy 2nd day of Chinatown festival. Room was private (having no room behind so offered headboard lighting & extra city view). Loved soothing, tea-scented toiletries. Excellent & enjoyable hotel stay (again much attributed to outstanding professional lobby staffers).

I hate to share good reviews. (Jk) I had many choices and made the correct one. We arrived early and they were commentating with our luggage and possible early check in. Aaron accepted our luggage as we explored town until possible check in. Aaron at the front desk was genuinely kind and helpful in all aspects. The hotel was quiet and clean and the rooftop was amazing in the morning. My only drawback was the a/c didn’t function correctly on our last night and it became uncomfortably warm thru the night. Otherwise, I’d definitely stay again. Aaron’s an asset and I look forward to another stay.

The location is right next to dragons gate and a short walk to union square. Parking is a few blocks away and $20 but only between 5pm-9am. The room and everything was nice and clean and comfortable. However I did have a problem with them charging me again even though I had already paid when I booked through hotels.com. Front desk was very unhelpful and I had to call and deal with it myself. Hotels.com was super kind and offered me credits for the trouble and the hotel did nothing.

The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The room itself was great. You could literally walk to Chinatown right around the corner which is very cool. I really like and appreciated the feature of using your room key to power the room. It made me feel like I'm doing my part in helping the environment. Overall, I'll be back because it rained the whole weekend and i didn't get to explore as much as I wanted to

We were very happy with our stay at Orchard gardens. The location is prefect. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff were great. They don’t have parking on site but there is a parking garage a block away. Will likely be back. Highly recommend.

Water refilling stations were great, and the rooftop garden provides a beautiful view of the downtown area. Overall, good for one person who plans to eat locally and brings their own amenities.

For our second stay in San Francisco we did not hesitate in choosing this hotel again. Well situated near the Chinatown Gate it is friendly, well appointed and extremely clean. The room was not large, but we didn't spend a lot of time there with all our sightseeing. The rooftop garden area was a great area to watch the sunset with a pre-dinner drink. The hotel does breakfast only, but there are plenty of options for other meals in the area.

I had a very comfortable stay- the room was clean, the bed was great, and the Wi-Fi worked well. There are also plenty of food options nearby. I’m giving it 4/5 mainly because the hotel is pretty bare-bones. The gym is tiny (not a big issue for me), and if you’re looking for extras like parking, breakfast, or other amenities, this probably isn’t the right fit. The on-site restaurant is only open in the mornings, but since there’s lots of food nearby, that wasn’t a problem. For my work trip, where I just needed a quiet place to sleep, it was perfect.

Great stay! Good in every way. For breakfast I recommend Posh Baggel one block away and for lunch/dinner the Italian across the street from the twin Orchard. Great staff, awesome mood! Congratulations!

Great place to stay while in San Francisco for a few ballgames. We were able to walk to Oracle Park an Fisherman's Wharf. The staff were friendly and helpful. We got breakfast and coffee from Working Girls Cafe on the corner and ate on the rooftop terrace.
