La Quinta by Wyndham Tulare

I have never written a bad review of a hotel. We have stayed in some very, very budget hotels and do not have very high standards. lol. Having said that, I would not stay here again. Pool was closed for maintenance both days we were there. I understand that’s always a possibility, although I called two days before arriving to double check it would be open and was told it would be. It was not, which was highly disappointing. The hallways and stairways were sweltering hot, which made keeping our room cool tricky. They also had a horrible musky oder that apparently was trying to be masked by air fresheners placed all over. Carpets were extremely dirty. Again, we have very low standards, and even still I felt totally grossed out. Wallpaper was peeling and bubbling. Outside the hotel’s door were piles of dog poop from guests taking their pets out and not cleaning it up. It reeked!! The bathroom was the nicest part of our room. The beds were comfortable and clean. The staff was very helpful and kind. The prepared food at the breakfast was not very good, but there were plenty of other options. Like I said, I’m not picky about hotels. I also thought that with the Wyndham name we would be getting a nice hotel. If we had paid 1/2 price, I probably would have given this a 5 star review, but for what we paid and the condition of the property, this was not a nice hotel. Even at 1/2 the price, I would not stay here again.

I am very disappointed that despite speaking to a front desk person two times to book my two rooms, I was never told the elevator is not working. I needed to accommodate my two young children and my elder parents who are handicapped. Only when I checked in did the nice front desk lady, Jessica, tell me that my parents would have to climb stairs to get to their second floor, ADA- compliant room. This is unacceptable. My father is 90 years old and has Parkinson's disease with a shuffle in his walk. I insisted they be accommodated on the first floor and Jessica was very helpful with that. But I'm very bothered that my kids and I are on another floor and there are no phones in this hotel for us to stay in communication. I have to keep running between floors to check on my kids and my parents (who are totally dependent). As I told Jessica, I would never have booked this hotel if I knew the elevators were broken and I could not be side by side with my parents. Also, why are ADA compliant rooms even on the second second floor? I hope Travelocity/ La Quinta thinks about how inconvenient this has been for my family and make things right because as of now we have no interest in ever staying in a La Quinta facility again.

We were given a key to an occupied room. Air conditioning unit in room sounded like it was going to explode. 2 of the 3 mornings the fire alarm went off in motel with no room phone to call if it was real or not. Elevator was not working. Overall the whole motel looked run down and the cleaning solution that was used was over powering and stinky.

I did not like that the water pressure was very low in my unit. The pool was poorly maintained, it was dirty, very murky. The hotel staff were not dressed professionally, did not behave professionally, and did not appear professional. There was a lack of professionalism, not all staff but most.

Hot tub was not working

We booked this hotel over another because it has a hot tub. Unfortunately the bubbles did not work so it was just a big tub of hot water to sit in. The person at the front desk was no help.

I had documents to print for work, but there was no functioning printer.

We stood in like for almost 30 minutes to b checked in. There were two people working, but never came up front to assist the person at the counter. Once we got our room key, we got in the elevator which never worked. The place is run down and the rooms were not that clean.

Very clean hotel.

Tv remote was very dirty and had to cover it in Kleenex. Black mold on the ceiling in shower.

The room looked clean and welcoming when we first arrived. The longer we were there the worse it got. The walls were filthy, the floors were dirty, and there were holes in the walls and We found multiple bugs in the bathroom..The room looked like it had been wiped down but was in desperate need of a deep cleaning.

Dirty place. Roach crawled on me while sitting at the end of the bed early in the morning freaked me out. Carpet was so dirty a bunch of black dirt washed off my feet in the shower. Overall looks okay but doesn’t seem to be well maintained.

Everything in the hotel was terrible except staff. Hotel was dirty, it smelled really bad, elevator was slow, bathroom faucets were not working properly, absolutely terrible breakfast and worst part is bed bugs on bed made my itchy all night.

Friendly and responsive staff, clean and comfortable room. No issues. Room was better than expected.

This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in. Not only was the room filthy and rundown, but the property as a whole. We ended up checking out a day early and cutting our trip short to avoid staying there another night. When the desk attendant was informed that we were checking out a day early, she could care less and sent us on our way.

The overall cleanliness of the room was ok but the hotel is definitely in need of maintenance. The hallway wallpaper was dingy and the seems were lifting on quite a few sections. In the room I found a used q-tip while getting to a power outlet next to the bed. The rest of the room though felt clean. Went to use the fridge and noticed it was very tippy, thought maybe the leveling feet were just not being used but as it would turn out the back corner of the cabinet the fridge was set into was sagging due to old water damage (it did look like there might be a little bit of light mold in there too). The toilet in the bathroom was mounted crooked under the counter top extension so the lid would fall down sometimes. Finally the shower curtain rod was drooping so the curtain wanted to slide open and you could see where the rod had been moved once already since there was a perfect print of mismatched paint showing that it had been painted (or repainted) with the rod installed. The continental breakfast was actually pretty good though so that was quite welcome.

Clean rooms

The property was nice, comfortable bed and nice room. There are no phones in the room and if you have a problem and you call with your cell phone you go to voicemail. The couple in the next room had a very loud and continuous argument the entire night. We went down and found the night person on site a couple times but he would only knock on their door and tell them to quiet down. We got almost no sleep so it was t a good stay at all

The room walls are very thin with no apparent sound insulation. Two different sets of next door neighbors were noisy pigs at night, so the stay was not very restful. On the positive side, they still have little bars of soap and little bottles of shampoo and conditioner and a hot breakfast.

The smell in the room was musty and moldy smelling.

The walls are so thin you can hear everything everyone in neighboring rooms says. The couple in the room next to us talked all night the first two nights then had a big, ugly, domestic violence fight all night on the last night. I'll be staying at the Hampton next time.

The beds were very comfortable, had a good nights sleep each night we were there The breakfast was adequate. Dry cereal, waffles, sausage and scrambled eggs. Typical continental. The room was bare bones, no mirror, one office type chair, no clock, had to ask for hair dryer. Run down furniture. Very dirty floor, when showering the bathtub was black from my dirty feet. Our white socks were black from the dirty floor. I had to wipe my feet with a wet one before putting my shoes on. When you opened the drawers there was lots of dust and particles in them. Stingy on the towels, two wash cloths, hand towels and bath towels for two people. Was quiet, for being on the first floor. We stayed three nights and we did not ask for room service during our stay. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The price was too high for the poor quality.

This La Quinta is a good property, though located right next to the freeway, and was in good shape and provided a clean, comfortable room. The breakfast was really nice and the service was good. The one thing I found disappointing was having no telephone in the room so that I had to get dressed and go to the front desk to talk about a problem I had at 11:00 p.m. .

The room was clean and neat. The only issue was tiny square pillows for the bed that belonged on the couch. Otherwise, would stay there again.

Stayed in a deluxe suite during my stay, the room did not smell good at all. Also when you turn on the A/C it smelled even worse.

The staff never made them selves available to are needs. They didn’t even answer the phone at the front desk

Overall experience was on par for an affordable LaQuinta however, the check in experience was terrible. I waited over 15 minutes at the front desk with no body there, when the apparent front desk agent walked in he was shirtless and had to go to the back to out on his uniform prior to helping me and 4 other guests check in.

My go to place to stay when I’m in central California. Great staff, clean rooms and the continental breakfast is amazingly good and has plenty of options. When I’m coming to the area alone I feel safe here too. I spent my birthday weekend here and was centrally located to go and do so many different things and have a safe base to in between all my adventures

I arrived at this hotel with a walking boot and had specifically requested a first-floor room due to limited mobility. Unfortunately, the elevator was out of service when I arrived, and the front desk staff was dismissive and unhelpful. Despite my clear need for accessible accommodations, I was told there was "nothing they could do" and that I’d have to wait until the next day to speak with a manager about the possibility of a refund. To make matters worse, there was a leak in the stairwell, and they had placed large industrial fans at both the top and bottom of the stairs. This made navigating to and from my room even more difficult and downright hazardous. Accessibility and customer service are critical in the hospitality industry, and both were sorely lacking during my stay. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with mobility issues—or anyone who expects basic courtesy and accommodations to be taken seriously.

Our reservation was not checked in correctly, we had to reservation on 5/1. Both reservations we're in different first names. Same last name. They gave my room to the other first name. We called two times on 5/1 and told them we would arrive late. Ray assured me that I was checked in and my room was 122. At 2am on 5/2 they called and stated they we're going to give our room away and we told them we we're almost there. I asked the clerks for his name and he stated I'm front desk that's all you need to know and hung up. When we arrived the clerk asked for my name and I told him the name. He gave me the key cards and walked away. I had to ask where room was as he walked away. When we finally settled in bed the neighbors we're very loud. We called the front desk three times no one answered. On 5/3 we went to the lobby to asked for towels the manger was sitting with a guest. As she got up for towels the guy smacked the manager's butt in front of us. Later that night we also called the front desk for a noise complain and no one answered. The next morning I asked the manager if we could move rooms because the neighbors we're loud and the dogs barked a lot. She said they we're fully booked and I told her the website was letting me book a room so I didn't understand why she was saying they we're fully book. The only good thing during our stay was with house keeping in the morning, they took care of our trashes and when we asked for new sheets they gave us new ones.

The gentlemen that helped us when we checked in was GREAT. He was very personable and nice. I asked him questions about the breakfast and he told me everything they had to offer. The location was great as we had an event at the Tulare farigrounds. Close to restaurants and next to the freeway. We had to extend on Sunday for one more night and the lady that was working was very helpful. Great staff.

Mark Anthony was so great during check in, I got to hotel from airport earlier than expected & he went above & beyond to help me check in a bit early so I could continue with my plans & not have to return to check in. All staff were friendly, breakfast was good with choices. I usually stay at this property when I visit my family because of staff, location, & comfort

Good location next to the 99 freeway, free parking, and free breakfast. This is a hotel for a quick overnight stay, but I wouldn’t want hang out at the hotel or in the immediate vicinity.

Very dirty property , location unsafe. The staff was nice..I booked two rooms, one had cockroaches climbing in the wall and other room had a terrible chemical smell . We were unable to sleep. The refrigerator looked absolutely disgusting . Not recommanded, Expedia overreated the property.

La Quinta Inn Tulare is in a great location near food and shopping. Enjoyed our stay. The free breakfast is simple but good. For the price it was fine. I'd choose to stay there again.

the stay was nice but there did seem to be a lot of homeless people around the parking lot.

Easy on and off Rt99. Several restaurants to choose from. Quiet area. Adequate parking. Three floors. Large lobby, Friendly staff.

Clean property, friendly staff, conveniently located close (ish) to Sequoia National Park.

Very unsafe. Significant stench of weed in the hotel and surrounding area.

My e-bike was stolen off my truck by a thief with bolt cutters in broad daylight at 6 AM. The truck was parked in the motel parking lot less than 100 feet from the front entrance, and the bike was secured to the bike rack by a locked cable. Security cameras captured the entire robbery, but nobody in the motel was watching the monitors when the robbery occurred. The video was given to the Tulare police, but the bike has not been recovered.

Great location for travellers.

Good place to stay on a road trip but very close to highway. Convenient for us but it has road noise.

The check in staff were great. Came down in the AM at 845 to grab a quick bite but they had already closed down breakfast. Got some coffee and left. The hotel was clean as was the room however the over all state of the hotel was very old looking. It needs some TLC for sure. We have stayed here multiple times and have not had a bad experience. However we were disappointed to not be able to have breakfast before leaving.

great Hotel bad staff, We stay at this hotel and was nice and clean. Employees not so nice, We were getting breakfast and the lady was throwing everything in the trash, even we were getting some breakfast it was like a race of who was faster in getting breakfast or her throwing the stuff in the trash, this person didn’t care about the guest getting their breakfast. Time was until 9am but if you see a family trying to get their breakfast please lady have some respect or some sense and stop doing that, this was jan 17. I even saw other familys with kids trying to get some food but this lady was so fast putting everything in the trash. Food that the people who pay for the stay could eat at because they were there but she didn’t care.

I've stayed at multiple Ls Quinta's in Milwaukee, Nebraska, Utah, etc., but THIS location has been THE worst so far. I encouraged my fiancé to choose this La Quinta location and I regretted it. The room was outdated; the mattress felt similar to a boxspring, so we didn't get the best rest; and the breakfast not only tasted like it was leftover from the prior day, but the texture also indicated that it was... old.

Easy check-in, comfortable bed but the breakfast was not so great. Got down about 8:15 - there was 1 sausage patty and no eggs. I guess the "server" was cooking more but they did not get into serving dishes for about 15 minutes. Poor guy needed roller skates to replenish everything.......... food - utensils - not sure if this was his usual job but he seemed unruffled while handling it.

only complaint was the morning breakfast, eggs were not eatable, and options not so appetizing

The room is very specious and clean! The bathroom is also clean! The bed is comfortable! The refrigerator with a freezer really helps us store food that we can on the road! The staff is kind and friendly! The breakfast has varieties and good! We enjoyed our stay!
