Riverdale Inn

We were attending a local concert and wanted an economical hotel to avoid driving a couple of hours aftreward. The price was right, the facility wasn't. The parking lot had pot holes, one large enough for a whole tire to fall into. The hallway smelled like dog. The non-smoking room smelled mildly of smoke. Each of the two chairs had an arm coming off.The toilet had the wrong seat and was loose and moved. The area outside the side entrance was strwn with trash. Check in was problematic: computer problems, unable to print, finally given room keys in desperation. This must be regularly complained about. When checking out weren't even asked "How was your stay"? Wouldn't recommend this facility that was recently taken over from Super 8 to anyone.

No phone, no microwave, poor room lighting, coffe maker lacked condiments. Outside grounds are terrible.

Please Super 8 make you a favor and shut donw this hotel. This is the worst place I ever go, the place smell smoke even if it is a none smoking room. The entrance to go in the parking is not really easy to find. The hotel is behind a building with scrap truck trailer.

Parts of the lot should be repaved. The sign at the entrance only says "enter". Because the hotel is set so far back from Rt 5 the sign shoud say Riverdale Inn - Enter.

Face basin leaks water on the carpet.

Signage was a paper half taped to the entry door. From outside you can observe that the shades were off track in many rooms. Shady at best. Can’t speak to cleanliness of rooms; left after seeing lobby, clientele, and talking to clerk. Expedia snipped a days stay from refund.

Front desk attendant was rude. First room the toliet leaked and was told there was only 1 room left and it was for emergencies. Room had pateches of wallpaper peeling off the walls. Heater didn't work so the room was FREEZING! Yelling up and down the hallways. Fridge did not work.

Entrance was super hard to find at night, and you have to drive a mile to the next u-turn.

The hotel seems to be used as a residence or temporary housing for people experiencing difficulties in life. The only reason I didn't switch hotels was the inside of the room was acceptable and the mattresses were quite comfortable.

This property was disgusting, rooms were absolutely filthy. Carpet and furniture was soiled and had cigarette burns.

The place was absolutely filthy and disgusting. Reeked of cigarette smoke. Rugs were ripped up in places, bedspread was covered in cigarette burns, sheets were covered in little black curly hairs and there was what looked like a piece of fruit someone chewed up and spit on the floor. I left the room after like 2-5 min, proceeded to checkout out after 1 hour due to an allergic reaction to the smoke (spent the whole hour searching for a new hotel), and was refused a refund! Was told to call back to speak to a manager about a refund for the second night I had booked, every time we call the manager is not there and we were told to call again the next day! 0/10 place needs to be shut down by health department.

the only way you could flush it was to add water. ... I took the blankets of the beds. Because they were stained and also cigarettes holes.. I found cockroaches running around the bed

Bedroom was dirty ! Blanket on bed ahd white stuff and bathroom had Pisa and cigarettes in the toilet like if someone was just in the room , was so scared didn’t even stay the night was too scared .

Everything smelled like stale cigarettes. The room had not been cleaned. The property was in bad condition with neglected repairs. There were junk cars in the parking lot.

A few lowlights of the stay: no fitted sheets or blankets on the beds. The mattresses have seen better days- lots of stains and cigarette burns. Carpet could have used a good vacuum and we were greeted immediately by a cockroach. We also experienced brown water pouring through the bathroom light fixture when the room above us showered (we hope). The front desk was not concerned about this issue. But it’s cheap! We did do a thorough search for bedbugs based on other reviews and didn’t find any. So, there’s that.

Worst place to stay. The motel was noisy, people yelling, supposed to be no smoking but place stunk of smoke, it was horrible. Not sure if theyd just steam cleaned rug in my room but rug was damp. I was only there short period but I kept my shoes on most of time. Bathroom was old, ceiling has what I wasnt sure was mildew or black mold since it was really dark. Bathroom door was busted near door knob, taped up. Dead bugs on plastic wall corner covers, unsure what kind of bug it was. I was only there for several hours to kill time since my daughter was in a pageant and we had large gap of time before finale that night, but rished to check out because I was so grossed out.

We occupied two rooms. The cigarette odor burned our throats. Same goes for both rooms. No way to get rid of it. It was like someone was continuously smoking in the room. Upkeep of rooms / hotel was very poor. Slopy work made the rooms look poor as well. Toilet height and size was more fit for a child attending elementary school. (Better than having no toilet at all). We dared not to take a shower, I can't say anything about that part. You basically get what you pay for. Could not find another hotel at the time of our visit. No choice...

The room was quiet & secure, & the beds were comfortable. It was easy to find, & a convenient location. The view was of a huge dirt lot, & the concrete-block-walled backs of two buildings. Coffee & pot in room but clerk found no creamer anywhere.

This hotel could use a major renovation. Although the sheets appeared clean, there were cigarette burns on the bedspread. The standing lamp was bent over and broken. Major stains on the chairs at the table. Crack all across the sink. Many mars on all the furniture. The door had a chain for an extra lock on the door, something I’ve never seen at a hotel. No do not disturb sign either. It has the possibility of being a very nice hotel, but needs some major updates.

Felt and looked a bit worn.

We were traveling as a sports team. Upon arrival a group of 4 kids were sent outside because they were laughing in the “lobby”, No one else was in there at the time. We heard from another sports team the front desk person threatened to call the police because they were complaining about their room. The entire hotel smelled of smoke. Our toilet wasn’t attached to the wall. Air conditioner wouldn’t work unless you reset the plug. We tried to open the windows to let in fresh air, but there were No window screens.

The beds were comfortable, and the sheets/towels were clean. However, we could hear lots of noisy guests, and the fridge was quite noisy as well. There was lots of dirt in the corners (especially the bathroom) and there was a wad of toilet paper stuck into a hole in the bathroom wall. The back of the toilet also was obviously not cleaned. It was ok for what we needed, just a place to sleep, but we sure would not want to hang around for the day or another night. The stretch limo in the parking lot was also a bit suspect. This place has been recently taken over by another group so it may well improve.

I went there for a triathlon race. Since we need to wake up at 3am and check out. I booked this one because it is very cheap. Really doesn’t make sense to spend $400+ for a short 6hrs stay. Thats also why I wrote this review. 1. It is an old building, the kinda lack of maintenance old. You will find a yellowish paper brochure attached to the back of the door says the room is rated as $99/night. No idea how long it has been there but the color of the paper can tell a lot about it. I guess 20 years? 2. No elevator. 3. Try to avoid any rooms near the stairs. Because there is a huge loud door. Everyone walk in and out is a big loud slamming that will wake you up in the middle of sleep. 4. Takes 10mins to run the hot water to get hot enough for a shower. 5. The front desk dude is actually very nice. He is definitely trying to do his job in his pay grade. People blame he is cold and lack of courtesy. I think people need to understand first why he takes this job. Hope it helps

My room was clean and quiet. Staff courteous and pleasant. It was the cheapest place I could find where I needed to be. So no suprise that the building looked worn and shabby.

Room was basic as expected. AC didn't work but I didn't care. Shower was great and the bed was comfortable. Only saw one cockroach. Front desk was friendly and helpful.

The lady at the front desk was very helpful. As a older woman by herself I was unsure if I would be able to sleep but am feeling comfortable staying the night. Yes the property is dated and old but I have certainly stayed in worse places run by big corporations. I give these folks a lot of credit for their work keeping up with the place. They were sold out the night I stayed.

The spanish lady that works 2nd shift gave somebody my room number, someone who i don’t speak to & someone i didn’t authorize her to give my information to. They proceeded to say they didn’t when i have proof that they did.

Front desk staff rude and discourteous. Ill trained. Woman on the night shift the night before check in, was unbelievably nasty, shouting at me on the phone. The day man when we checked in, was someone who should not even be working with people. Another very nasty, rude person, with a huge language barrier who spoke very little English, ignored ,me the person who supplied the credit card, instead looked directly at my sister and talked to her about my credit card and payment. He would NOT tell us how much the room cost but had processed my card before I approved that transaction.Still ,three days later, I have NO IDEA how much the room cost. No one would tell us, and no one would give me a receipt. The room the first night was a disaster. Sink would not drain Metal shelf was falling off the wall with one screw holding it up. Heater was loud and clangy, would not shut off. Refrigerator was loud and would not shut down despite turning the dial to OFF.Coffee pot was filthy.TV did not work. People upstairs shouting and talking at full volume ALL NIGHT, never once shutting up to sleep.' ALL NIGHT and even the next morning at 6:00 a.m. they were still talking and stomping around like a herd of elephants. NEVER ONCE SHUT UP. At one point there was sawing going on, wood or something. My sister and I got absolutely not a minute of sleep that night. The vending machine downstairs did not give me change and I lost $10 worth of change through a slot that should not have been ther

The front desk person thru the middle of the night was so disgustingly rude. She pushed me and swore at me. I can’t wait to talk to a manager ! What kind of miserable person is this defensive over a cigarette smelling dirty hotel. She needs a reality check.

After I checked I went to the room and it was not clean .I informed the front desk there was empty beer and soda cans in my room dirty socks were left on the floor also the bathroom and sink were dirty and she stated they would get someone to clean it tomorrow. When I ask for another room the clerk who was very nasty and refused to give her name said sorry my shift is almost over and if I had arrived earlier she would have been able to help me?? I hand no choice because it was late but to stay unfortunately , besides the horrible condition of the room the bed had a huge dip in the middle of the mattress it was so uncomfortable I was unable to sleep . I was schedule to stay for two nights but left after the first night the room I suffered in was number 204..This is a warning stay there at your own risk

Emergency stay because of the rain. Great staff; great price; decent comfort.

They recently changed from a Super 8 to The Riverdale Inn. There was no signage for Riverdale but all the Super 8 was up so very confusing. Beds were very comfortable. Businesses nearby don't clean up garbage very well so there was litter nearby

Property was in great condition. Rooms smelled of cigar/cigarette smoke but only mildly. Room otherwise was fine. In an unfortunate area of West Springfield but otherwise good access to the highway for transportation around western mass

The property was good we just had a hard time finding the entrance but other than that it was . I will stay there again .

Room was fine and staff was polite. Booked the room because it had breakfast included. From 6 to 9am. No breakfast, serving area was dark and the only food/beverage was a bowl with wrapped granola bars. Chose this because of breakfast included as i had a ten year old with me. Poor.

The hotel did not match the online criteria we were given. No breakfast was offered. The television did not work in our room. The rooms were all non-smoking, but occupant in the room next to ours was smoking, and we could see them from the parking lot out the window. When you walk in the lobby, you get hit with a strong smell of marijuana, and it doesn't go away. The safety chain on our room door was missing, and we had to make sure it latched when shutting it. Mouse traps and mouse droppings in the hallways.

We booked a king bed only to learn no rooms with kings were clean. Heat was alright but a constant drip could be heard. Got a 2 double bed. No breakfast. No coffee maker in room. None of us slept well. Asked about partial refund and was refused. The shower was nice. Otherwise, not worth the cost.

There was a lot of trash outs Super 8 by Wyndham West Springfield/Route 5 West Springfield, Massachusetts, United States of America Sat, Jul 15 - Sun, Jul 16 There was a lot of trash in the parking area and there was no breakfast, only coffee. I asked one of the staff about this and I was told that they don't offer breakfast. Also, there were several desks stored in the breakfast room. My room was OK but I don't plan to stay there again.
