Maldron Hotel Newcastle

Nice modern hotel. Room was reasonable size, clean, had everything you'd need and was comfortable. I didn't eat or drink there. The only slight inconvenience is the lack of parking but there's a couple of multi storeys a few minutes walk away. I paid £23 for 24 hours.

Great central Newcastle location stayed 1 night Friendly check in at reception easy online check out. Tv lounge bar good. Room good size and bed very comfortable. Only drawback was no onsite parking which couldn’t be helped due to its central location. Tip do a deal with Q car parks for above 24 hour stay as we had reschedule our plans to ensure we left the car park under 24 hrs to avoid unnecessary charges.as the car park was not available next day to continue to park. This was Sat/Sun 16/17 Nov - not a match day.

Great spot for visiting major shopping and eating areas of the city. Decent gym and one of the most comfortable beds in Newcastle. The parking is a bit of a chore, but if you’re not using the car much or you’re not in one, this is a great choice.

Very nice and modern hotel in the centre of Newcastle with everything on the doorstep. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the place was spotless. The breakfast option was tasty and plentiful and the dining area was clean and comfortable. My only suggestion would be to have Worcestershire sauce as an option, it would have made all the difference! The room was quiet (as requested) and the bed was very comfortable. It was very warm so the air conditioning was welcome. The only downside to the room was the lack of a fridge/mini bar to keep things cool which I would expect as standard. Other than that, I can’t fault this hot and would recommend it.

Property was great in nice central location check in was automated and I had paid for an upgraded room and drinks package neither of these were applied to my reservation. The lady who dealt with the problem was fantastic and got drinks sent to room (better late than never) I decieded not to pursue the upgrade as room was ok. The hotel refunded my money. Big shout out to staff member that helped me out she is a fantastic asset to the hotel.

Hotel was lovely. There was a nice atmosphere and everything was spotlessly clean. Room good size, bed maybe ready for renewal as matress sinking a bit and wasn't that comfortable. Make sure you pay for parking up front at Qpark or you won't get the discount...we didn't see that when booking. Special thanks to Jimi at reception for explaining this for our next visit.

Nice hotel, very smart décor right in the centre of the city. Great location shopping and dinning. Only down side is not car park and not many close options.

Incredible stay, hotel was modern and had great facilities. Aircon was ice cold which was a pleasure during the heatwave. Bar staff extremely friendly and easy to talk too.

We enjoyed a very lovely stay for the carabao cup celebrations, staff and hotel were all perfect, as was the use of the robot room service which was the cherry on top for my 6 year old son. I would have given a 5 star review but have been left with a sour taste in my mouth on departure, as we were informed the hotel no longer offers discounts on parking despite both the carpark signage and the Maldron hotels website both stating it does, just feel very misled.

Nice hotel although there were signs of black mould in the shower and the corners of the carpets could have done with a hoover. Staff were pleasant and breakfast was quite good, usual self service breakfast items were available.

The rooms were exceptionally cleaned and well maintained. Staff were friendly. They have an iron and ironing board which is always a bonus. Would highly recommend and will use again.

Second visit, good location, easy check in and polite staff. However…Makeup stain on towel in bathroom and shower had mould on walls, mentioned this on check out. Also issue with hot water on the morning of check out. Cleanliness needs improving. Overall nice pleasant stay.

Nice hotel in a central location. But cleanliness in rooms very poor. Finger marks everywhere, dirty windows and mirrors as well as dirty floor in bathroom. Such a shame as the hotel is quite new and will end up very run down. Didn’t complain because just there one night and only a base for sleeping

A lovely hotel. Room was decent size and all fixtures n fittings were good quality. I think the cleanliness needs to improve. There was a sticky item on top of the duvet as if part of a sweet had been dropped. The underneath of the toilet was a yellow stained colour and there was a blood mark on the wall next to the toilet. I would expect this to be cleaned off.

Nice but so noisy! We know it is city centre but as soon as the passers by stopped, the street cleaning started. Suspect there are quiet rooms but nothing advertised/recommend to request a quiet room. Place was clean and fine for a one night stay though!

Great luxurious hotel right in the centre of Newcastle! Only negative that sticks out was that we could hear the fan extractor outside the window of our room on a night. It was quite noisy and struggled to block it out.

Nice hotel in an excellent location within a five minute walk of the train station and St. James' Park. Many pubs and dining options right outside the front door. The room was clean and comfortable, but the view was terrible. Inside rooms have a view of the climate control unit and the other rooms across the way.

This was our first visit here, we stayed for 2 nights and I've no doubt we will be back. Every staff member we met was warm, friendly, professional and extremely helpful. We upgraded our room to a Executive King & Single Room, the room itself was very clean, on a corner location and was massive with an amazing huge floor to ceiling window with city views, we took great delight in sitting having drinks at the table and chairs watching the world go by. We weren't disturbed by any street noise whatsoever. The bathrobes were so soft and fluffy, plenty towels, toiletries, teas, coffees, biscuits etc. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection. Enjoyed sitting in the courtyard, lovely space. Our only bugbear was the lack of storage space, especially in such a large room and, while I don't mind living out of a suitcase for a couple of nights some shelf / drawer storage would have been good.

Great friendly Geordie hospitality and service from the staff. Alas, the room - while clean - had no view and the build quality of the room walls and their thinness mean you hear everything. Seems like the hotel was built on the cheap. Great location though being in the heart of the city.

Location is centrally close to train station and shopping malls. Room are sound proof and quiet. Bathrooms are modern and equipped. Will stay again.

The location is absolutely great! near everywhere. The room is noisy because it may face to the main street. a little bit dusty. but overall is still comfort to stay. I used self check-in & check-out , except from breakfast time, I did not contact any staff during stay.

This hotel is in a grest position, close to shops, restaurants and the train station. It is very modern and clean. The room was small, with a window overlooking brick walls and was very cold. We tried to turn up the air comditioning but nothing seemed to happen and there was no other form of heating. Also there was no heating at all in the bathroom - no heated towel rail or underfloor heating - as we visited in during a very cold January this made for an uncomfotable stay. We would use this hotel again but not until the warmer weather! On the plus side - the staff were friendly and efficient and the beds were very comfortable.

Great location, close to the city centre and a short walk from the train station. The room was large considering the price was pretty reasonable. We found the room clean and towels were changed for our 2nd night. Victoria could not have possibly been nicer or more helpful for both our check-in and checkout. Highly recommended.

Convenient for city centre, excellent staff

Having completed the online registration and had that confirmed, I did not receive the expected email on the arrival day with my log in code to get my room and key etc. Very frustrating, but the great reception staff (especially David) eventually sorted it all for me, although this took quite a time because it seems that when an online registration is done, the booking moves to a different system from that of the actual hotel. That was the only ‘blip’. My executive room was very spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. It was also totally quiet, despite overlooking a main road. The hotel is very central, with easy access to the train station, a large shopping centre and plenty of restaurants. I would certainly stay at the Maldron again, but wouldn’t use the online registration system!

The hotel is fab - check in was great - brilliant guy in the desk at 6pm last night. Same checkout wasn’t the same - same guy in but his younger colleague dealt with us - rude- didn’t look me in the eye once- carried on doing what he was doing on the computer. Very unhelpful re car park situation- as was the female I spoke to on Thursday night about where to park and discounts. Never told you had to pre book in Q park to qualify for discount. Nothing re such in entrance to car park which welcomes guests from the Maldron- only fund out no discounts when checking out and then a big sign in the Q park pay machine!! Please be more informative and helpful to your guests!

The hotel was right in the heart of Newcastle and the staff were very helpful and friendly

A warm welcome awaits you at this fantastic hotel in central Newcastle. Every aspect is absolutely immaculate, the fragrance in the lobby is divine and the rooms are beautifully clean with lovely crisp sheets. The staff set this hotel apart and the customer service is second to none. A wonderful team. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and I’d definitely recommend partaking of it. A million percent recommend and I will definitely be back.

Pros: extremely clean and in a perfect location Cons: the young man who checked us in was extremely abrupt and did not seem to want to be there, after getting to our room we immediately turned around as the toilet was running, we made a young lady aware who attempted to get maintenance to resolve the issue but instead gave us a new room. 416: we left our bags to head to an event (returning around 1am) to the toilet continuously flushing after our first use (seems to be a problem they have) it would stop for about half an hour if you flushed 3-4 times but this wasn’t guaranteed, the bathroom door would also catch making it extremely difficult to open (I had to use my entire body weight) not suitable for family’s especially with small children, we decided to let staff know in the morning due to wanting to go to sleep for an early start after having worked and travelled all day. Upon check out I attempted to make the young man on reception aware, after finally getting his attention (he has stared straight at the door for around five minutes) I attempted to explain the problem so it could be rectified for future guests as we were tired and it was an annoyance on the night. He said abruptly “what do you expect me to do, we have maintenance at all hours who fix this, this is your fault you need to come down”, which was extremely unprofessional, nobody wants to sit outside of their room at early hours waiting for a toilet to be dismantled and fixed.

Great first time experience in this hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, clean room and good food in the restaurant. Prime location, would definitely stay again

The pros: The location was great: close to the train station, shops and bars. Comfy bed and I slept well. The cons: We were surprised that as a modern hotel there was no fridge in the room. The customer service was poor. We reported to reception that the toliet was faulty. The staff member did not allow me to give details of the issue and said she would get maintenance to look at it. They did not attend to it. This morning we returned to the room after breakfast to find that we were locked out as our keys had been timed out. If you check in online, it locks you out at 10am on the day of departure rather than 11am. Moreover, they have not changed the time to take into account the end of British Summer Time. After returning downstairs the response was that there are a lot of locks to change. It is a problem they are clearly aware of so why not put a sign up warning people!

Great position in centre with parking just round the corner. We will definitely stay again next time we in Newcastle. NUFC just 3mins away.

Perfect location for train station and city centre.

Ideally located only a few minutes walk from the railway station and eldon square Grey Street etc .

Hotel was in perfect location for everything, shopping, restaurants and St James Park for Sam Fender concert. Even though it was right in the centre it was really quiet at night. Check in was super easy and all staff were friendly and helpfully. Will definitely be back again.

I always try and stay here on my trip to Newcastle, perfect location in the city centre. Would stay here a few times a year, only downside in the food in the restaurant Isn’t the best, breakfast is fine but the dinner can be hit or miss.

The reception was friendly and efficient, with a nice chat with the receptionist who recommended the incredible breakfast. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. What did disappoint though was the breakfast. Their brochure says "There is nothing like that aroma of fresh coffee brewing and freshly basked pastries...". Well, there was nothing like that, so I suppose it is correct. The coffee was from the same sort of machine as you find in Wetherspoons and my Latte was so weak I wondered if there was any coffee in it at all. Pastries? Croissants or Pain au Chocolate, but neither were "oven fresh". No other pastries, muffins, pancakes etc as one would usually find in a hotel of this class. Bread? sliced white or brown for toast, but no crusty bread or rolls. The cooked breakfast was fine, no complaint, but the build up from the comments in reception and on the website meant the experience was disappointing.

Hotel and room fantastic. Breakfast was terrible. We went down at 9.30 an hour before breakfast closed and there was nothing. No hot food, pastries or bread. When we raised this we were barked at by one of the servers that it always happens on a sunday when people are late. Which we were not late. Not good for such a lovely hotel- an apology would not go a miss

Great hotel in excellent location. All staff were really friendly and provided helpful information about the hotel's services. Bed was very comfortable and room was a good size and very clean. Quality bed linen and towels too. Plenty of choice of cooked and continental style breakfast items. Really great value stay. Will definitely be back for another stay.
