It was easy to check-in and out. Each dorm had unique codes. The beds have black wall covers, a light, shelf, and 2 plug-in sockets. You also get a locker. The showers are in one room, but all divided. There is a fridge/freezer and microwave. Food gets crowded. It's clean and functional. In nice area and very close to grocery stores and transport.

I had to go for brunch with family until 2pm, so past the checkout time of 10am, but there was a storage option available until *10pm* the same day for no added fee, which was an incredible help. If that sounds like something you need, then I guess this would be the right place.

호스텔숙박은 처음이었는데 너무 깔끔하고 조용하고 좋았습니다. 저희가 추위를 타는 편이어서 추가 이불을 요청했는데 바로 갖다 주신것도 고마웠습니다. 다만 차를 가지고 오시는 여행객이라면 주차장은 제공되지 않는다는 점을 확인하고 오셔야할듯 합니다. 저희는 밤에 도로변에 주차했다(밤에는 무료) 아침에 일찍 체크아웃했습니다.

Mostly clean - there was no lock provided for the locker; i had to buy it. Waste of money and of resources. The ceiling in the shower was cracked and falling apart, shower curtains were pink at the bottom like they hadn't been bleached ever and there was hair in the shower. No recycling facilities or place to leave extra food for people to use.

Clean room, washrooms, showers, and lounge! Great location for exploring San Francisco. Street parking is free as long as you look carefully at the signs because cars get towed for not obeying the times allowed for parking.

Easy late check in. Staff was helpful and friendly. Washrooms and showers were clean. Bed was acceptable. Top bunk was a bit hard for me to get in and out at night but I managed. The 4-bed room was clean. Large locker (bring your own lock). Communal lounge room had a fridge, filtered water, tea, cups, etc. My biggest complaint was the lack of AC. My last day was brutally hot for SF in the high 80s and the room did not cool down until past midnight. Otherwise, I liked my stay. Where are you going to find a clean, safe place to sleep and shower for that kinda price? Definitely recommend Nap York SF.

I thought that by sharing the public spaces such as restrooms and shower rooms would be a disaster but they keep those very very clean, especially the lounge area with the free flow tea and coffee and pretty complete kitchen utensils!

I recently stayed at the Chapter Hostel San Francisco and had an excellent experience. The receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist. The bathrooms were always clean, providing comfort and hygiene throughout the stay. Additionally, the option to store luggage at the reception was a great convenience, allowing me to explore the city worry-free after check-out. Single female - first time in San Francisco Hostel was perfect. I was in a female only room dorm which slept 4 Room was clean, showers and toilets clean. Kitchen was small but I didn’t actually use for cooking as was out all day. This place was ideal as central to what was needed

Great location, walkable, and there’s enough transport to get around the city. There’s many food spots, cafes, grocery stores, and a pharmacy within 10 minutes walking distance. Facilities were clean and well maintained and staff was responsive. Communication is done through text and the doors use codes instead of keys. Tip: put your lock codes on your home screen of your phone so you don’t have to search through the text messages. Overall, a great experience and the guests I stayed with all were respectful. Definitely recommend for solo travelers who want a safe place that’s in a good location in the city.

I loved Chapter. It’s in a great location, it’s easily accessible by public transit, and very clean. I dare say this is one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed at (and for my job, I’m in a couple every week for the last decade) even tho it’s a hostel. I would stay there again and recommend to solo traveling friends

Poor maintenance. I was assigned to a room that I did not book. When I inquired about the change, the staff told me it was likely due to their effort to group guests traveling together, and I was mistakenly moved to another room. Unfortunately, all they could offer was a verbal apology, with no actual resolution. The room I was given—a 6-mix dorm—was not what I reserved, and had I known I would be placed there, I would not have booked this property at all. By the time I found out, it was already too late to find another place to stay, so I had no choice but to spend uncomfortable nights in a room I didn’t choose. This wasn’t my first time staying here, but this experience was drastically worse than previous visits. Half of the bathrooms were under maintenance, and the toilets constantly smelled of urine. I’ve stayed at almost every hostel in this area, and it’s really disappointing to see that the management here no longer lives up to its former standard. Poor management. It was clear that the staff was overwhelmed—there was only one person handling the “front desk” (well… it’s not even a desk, literally just a small table 😂), trying to manage all bookings and guest issues alone.

Chapter San Francisco is the right place for you if you are looking for a clean bed ans traveling on a budget. Love the fact that the beds are somewhat closed so that you have privacy. It is not a quiet place at all though. Since there is no airconditioning the window needs to be open for fresh air and it is loud from the street. The showers are clean and you feel safe. The door system made me feel safe although the code never worked the first tries. Once you get how it works it is fine. There a closed in the room that you can close with a lock. It is large enough to fit a small and medium size luggage. The neighbourhood was very safe.

I stayed on the private rooms floor, everything is new and super clean. There are 2 private rooms that are next to each other. They have a shared area for seats, storage. The room is just big enough for a bed. No windows, feels a bit like a space age pod. Very quiet, no noise from neighbors or street. It’s really for getting good sleep. Eat and socialize in the lounge or out the door!

I typed my code into the futuristic keypad and heard the bolt unlocked. I stepped inside the room prepared to sleep in a bunkbed, like most other hostels. Then I saw them. These glass pods. Like one of those "Zoom booths" you see nowadays. Except bigger. And with a perfectly made bed inside. After a long day walking miles exploring the city in the rain, what a sight for sore eyes. I walked in. Shut the door. And called my wife. It's amazing! I shouted! And I could shout, because of the sound proofing. Thank you Chapter. What a spot.

ドミトリータイプということで心配でしたが、1部屋に4人というタイプのプランだったので、各ベッドがシェルターのようなボックスで囲われていて、入り口も向かわないように配置されていてプライベート空間が確保できていました。ロッカーも十分大きかったので、あらかじめ用意していた南京錠でロック可能でした。 共用キッチンや、トイレ、シャワールームも綺麗に保たれていて、一部シャワーの繋ぎ目から水が漏れたりしていましたが、許容範囲内かなと感じました。 年齢層もさまざまで、各階の入り口が違うので、全ての人と会うわけではありません。 1人旅にオススメします！
ドミトリータイプということで心配でしたが、1部屋に4人というタイプのプランだったので、各ベッドがシェルターのようなボックスで囲われていて、入り口も向かわないように配置されていてプライベート空間が確保できていました。ロッカーも十分大きかったので、あらかじめ用意していた南京錠でロック可能でした。 共用キッチンや、トイレ、シャワールームも綺麗に保たれていて、一部シャワーの繋ぎ目から水が漏れたりしていましたが、許容範囲内かなと感じました。 年齢層もさまざまで、各階の入り口が違うので、全ての人と会うわけではありません。 1人旅にオススメします！

I've marked service low because all of my interactions were via whatsapp - the only staff I encountered were the cleaning staff, who were on deck through the day. Very comfortable bed, good wife, very clean bathrooms and showers (which had plenty of room). The social space was a bit small, and most nights had a fellow holding forth on his political views.

Pros: close to the bart and lots of food. Kind staff. Cleaner than most hostels. Good wifi. Cons: Hot. Noisy dorm mates with the squeaky beds and gear cages under the bed that need wd40. No mirror in bathrooms mean people have to get ready in the room and turn on the lights and make noise. Not fun.

Hostel was awesome. The directions for access were great and easy to follow. Hostel was very clean. The set-up for the bunk beds was great. The bunk beds were blacked out so it provided darkness and privacy for each bed. I would 100% stay here again.

I literally LOVE Chapter San Francisco! This is my go to spot when I am in the city! I have stayed in many 4 and 5 star accommodations on my lifetime! Had a great stay minus one of the doors going to the bathroom got stuck and I had to get rescued by the staff lol but it was no big deal. Very convenient place to stay and I was able to walk to get food and back. I’m from Seattle and it felt like I was in Seattle still. Staff was very helpful through text and responded back in a timely manner. I slept like a baby, put on my headphones and was gone with the wind. In the shower area there’s a changing section when you step into your shower, I wish it had like an extra bench so I can put my clean clothes instead I had to hang it over the door. Other than that I would stay here again definitely.

I had issues (twice...) with the codes not working when trying to enter my room which made me feel unsafe especially when this happened midnight. Reception is not open after 10pm so I received help via Whatsapp and staff was helpful. Other things that lower my rating were the metal beds that made a lot of noise. Also the whole floor only had 2 showers working. I have never had to wait to shower in hostel before. I wish toilets had more hooks to put towels/clothes in and rooms had mirrors. Location was great, however the street can be noisy but hostel provided ear plugs.

Even before I arrived, I was so impressed by the customer service. The check-in was easy and accommodating. The facility was so clean, and everyone I interacted with was very pleasant. The hostel is located in a very convenient area. I was able to walk to many different locations, or take a short ride on the train/cab. I wish I had been able to stay longer! The next time I visit, I'll be staying at Chapter SF again for sure.

I loved Chapter. It’s in a great location, it’s easily accessible by public transit, and very clean. I dare say this is one of the cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed at (and for my job, I’m in a couple every week for the last decade) even tho it’s a hostel. I would stay there again and recommend to solo traveling friends

Easy late check in. Staff was helpful and friendly. Washrooms and showers were clean. Bed was acceptable. Top bunk was a bit hard for me to get in and out at night but I managed. The 4-bed room was clean. Large locker (bring your own lock). Communal lounge room had a fridge, filtered water, tea, cups, etc. My biggest complaint was the lack of AC. My last day was brutally hot for SF in the high 80s and the room did not cool down until past midnight. Otherwise, I liked my stay. Where are you going to find a clean, safe place to sleep and shower for that kinda price? Definitely recommend Nap York SF.

The check-in process felt confusing and I had an issue with things falling from my bed on top down into the bed below / beneath the bunk bed where housekeeping cleans (including both my earbuds and my DMV learner's permit), but everything else was perfect. The rooms are very clean, the showers come complete with soap/shampoo dispensers, there's a very nice cafe right downstairs (as well as another one basically a block away, a coin laundry one block away, and a gourmet Chinese food place that's right on the same block as the cafe downstairs), and I never had any issues with anything else. I had accidentally made two reservations, and luckily enough I didn't have to swap beds or move everything out to check out and check in again.

I thought that by sharing the public spaces such as restrooms and shower rooms would be a disaster but they keep those very very clean, especially the lounge area with the free flow tea and coffee and pretty complete kitchen utensils!
