I would not stay at this hotel again until they complete their construction project. Not their fault, but we had to walk with our luggage around three sides of the large building to find the temporary entrance while our car was illegally parked as there were no open spots. When we checked in, they charged an additional $50 for incidentals of which $20 was a bar credit and another portion was credited towards a rental bike in case you wanted to get run over in their busy streets. Additionally, they gave me a room that was still unmade at 3:30 in the afternoon. Reception apologized profusely and gave me another room down the hallway right next to the elevator. I was already unpacked when I heard what sounded like a freight train. It was the elevator passing my room on the metal track. As I was only there for one night, I put up with that noise as it was quiet all night until about 6 in the morning when the noise woke me up. Also, the streaming feature was not working on the TV, so I delayed watching Netflix until a repair person reset the system. Also, the temporary bar is not amazing. It is like setting in your basement having a drink. The bartenders and the drinks were good. In summary, of the 6 hotels we stayed in during our 8-day trip down the coast, I thought this famous hotel would be the most amazing. It was not. The location is great, and I think it will be fine once the construction is completed in the near future.

The property was beautiful. It is centrally located next to Union Square. The hotel itself is very clean and elegant. The only issue I had was parking. Valet parking was the only option for the hotel and it cost $78 per night.

Great stay for 3 day getaway. Location is great for shopping, public transportation/car service and tourist attractions. Powell street front entrance is being remodeled but Geary St entrance is a short walk around the corner.

The shower drain clogged and water won’t drain until 30 minutes. Tiny bathroom, shower bar looked dangerous since it touching the light. Room smelled like mildew and room is so noisy. Could hear the horn blaring all night. Room service was excellent though. Pizza was gourmet and cheese stick is top notch.

I use to stay at this hotel 20 years ago. I had not been there since 2005. Total disappointment. This hotel is falling apart. Badly maintained, dirty and unsafe. I found a syringe on the bathroom floor and a half empty water bottle on the table. Someone had entered my room. This is a health hazard on top of being disgusting and scary. I never heard back from hotel management about the incident.

If this property had a store or gift shop, that would be amazing. The CVS and Walgreens close so early and I had a bad headache and could not find relief. If there was a store to purchase medicines, that would have made this A+ for me. Front desk was helpful at checkin - very polite. Valet and bell service was very good. Rooms were cleaned very well.

The hotel is beautiful, love the architecture, historic vibe. My room was lovely and the bed was comfy. The only thing was my wall was next to the elevator. Like literally wall to wall so the noise from the elevator going up and down was bothersome. didn't hear it during the night but early in the morning and during the day when I was in the room trying to rest or work. The protesting noise outside didn't effect my room only when you would go outside or in the parking garage. The drumming was deafening.

It was great until I realized I was charged extra price. I was initially charged a certain amount for 2 nights and plus the deposit per Night. I was fine with that. When I checked in, there was a difference in price. One day into the trip, the day after checking in, there was another charged to my card, which I had to ask the desk what was this for. They said for incidentals just in case and it would go off my card once I check out. A little irritated but was fine with that. I check out and there’s a different charged to my card from when I checked in and through out my trip.i was upset. There were so many hidden fees within this hotel. I couldn’t believe it. Excuse me. This makes absolutely no sense. To try and charge whatever amount you want to someone’s card without their knowledge. Spoke to a supervisor Ben and he wasn’t any help at all. Was defensive when I was asking about these fees. As much as it was a nice hotel, in a great area, watch out for so many fees, that I have never even heard about being added to your bill and no real explanation being offered to you. I travel alot and this is the first. I go to Vegas often and they don’t have these many fees. The fees they do have will be explained to you when checking in, not surprising you through out your trip. Truly disappointed.

There were three desk clerks available to serve customers with Elite status, and NO clerk for non-elite guests, although there was a line of non-elite guests. So avoid if you are a guest without status, or don’t mine being treated like steerage class in the Titanic.

Staff was friendly however when we arrived we requested for a crib for our 1 year old and that was never delivered to our room. The next day my husband went to request for it and still not delivered until we left. To our surprise, the bath tub was very dirty. I even took a picture of it. Housekeepers were Just zooming through and not cleaning. It’s a beautiful hotel so I suggest you clean the rooms and complete guests requests. The noise caused by the workers on strike kept waking us up every morning and our kids had a had time sleeping. We were a little disappointed.

The Westin St Francis is fabulous, as are their staff. Unfortunately the downtown area was hit hard post-Covid with tech workers & others not returning to their offices. The result is many large & small businesses have closed. Other area of SFO are still vibrant & worth the visit

Hotel is amazing definitely an older building but it has so much history! Staff is very accommodating and helpful food is great. The area out of the hotel is okay but a lot of homeless so I don’t recommend being out late. But during the day it’s nice and everything is close by.

Restaurant not open yet and construction entrances around union sqaure a bit awkward. There is now this awful $20/day SF CITY charge for all booked nights that is so annoying but with Bonvoy you can get back with food purchase. Prices for cafe and and bar were extremely high like $40 / person for brunch. check out local area diners and avoid bar and food here. Overall a classic place but showing signs of wear given some shoddy renovations and redesigns in the past.

This is an excellent option if you want to stay in the middle of everything.... convenient location right on union square....the room had an extraordinary view... staff was super nice and friendly... the cafe/restaurant downstairs have the best coffee, burgers and omg... rhe cheese cake..... believe me... you wont be dissapointed.

Was under construction and we weren’t informed. None of the restaurants or bars were open aside from the cafe. Also, the bathroom was small, and the toilet was so close to the wall you could barely sit down. They should have informed guest that it was under renovations since this was a holiday family trip, and none of the amenities we were looking forward to were open.

At this point there is a strike at some of the larger hotels including the Westin, I wish I had known this in advance of booking. Unclear when it will be resolved. If you want food, you have to order food through one of the food delivery services and go down to the lobby to pick it up.

The whole hotel! The restaurant was closed and also the nonexistent bar. They had only a snack bar and no other food options. No room service. Picketers at the entrance you have go around them. I used Expedia to book my tickets and stay or would’ve asked for a full refund

The hotel location is ideal for a tourist. Stayed in one of the premium tower rooms, which were large (though if you want a view you need to be above the 17th floor). The hotel has some great features. Staff were very friendly and helpful, In exchange for the "fees" the hotel provides a useful daily credit in the lobby cafe (including for takeout and drinks) and an Uber discount. Wifi worked well and soundproofing of the rooms was very effective. Blackout curtains worked well. The rooms had plenty of lights and hot water. However, there were some negatives. The carpet wasn't very clean (I stepped on old chewing gum, e.g.). The chairs and bed were uncomfortable, the bathroom had an awkward tub rather than shower, and the heating and air conditioning wasn't enabled despite quite cold temperatures. That was more of a problem because the beds feature overwarm duvets which slide off the bed, but no practical blankets. Requesting a blanket produced a light bedspread. I found the pillows on the bed quite uncomfortable as well. The rooms didn't offer slippers or bathrobes, which I would expect expect in a hotel of this rating. So a reasonable choice, but there are plenty of other options.
