I was just staying one night between 2 one week stays between other resorts. Seemed pretty cheap, but what I can't find in the listing is you will be charged a mandatory $25 resort fee upon check in, it's not paid thru the app, even though it says all fees included. My room seemed a little tired, but clean. Was basically a one bedroom apartment, which I didn't expect. Has 2 pools, one by the beach (standard rectangular pool) with a hot tub, and a pool closer to the hotel that would be really great for kids. There's a hot tub by this pool also. Nice beach. Overall it's pretty nice, would be nice for families with kids. Parking $10.99 per 24 hours.

This is a repeated stay at Aston Kaanapali Shores for us, we enjoyed the 2 pools, hot tubs, gym, free movies, and all the amenities they offer. The area is safe to walk around and full of things to do…this is our preferred location when visiting the west side of Maui, mahalo!

We had a great stay. Our 2B/2B GV was a perfect fit for our family. Two teen girls need their space and we need ours, so this set up was ideal. The kitchen and washer and dryer were awesome as well. The property is located within walking distance of food trucks, grocery store, and shops. Both of the pools were very big and well maintained. The beach left a little to be desired as there are two properties flanking it which prevent you from strolling down the beach for a walk but otherwise it was okay. It’s an adequate beachfront but not really Kaanapali proper. Just fyi you’re going to pay a $25/day resort fee and $10/day to park your car so that stings a bit when you’re checking out. The hotel has an on site restaurant that was pretty good, and there is a mini mart on property for everything from alcohol and incidentals to pancake mix and sunscreen. You have to pay to use the gym through a third party and an app subscription, so I didn’t bother. You get trash service on the third day but you have to request room cleaning for a fee. We just cleaned up ourselves and requested towels when needed. We enjoyed the sitting area on the balcony and the view of the well maintained resort grounds. To sum it up we really enjoyed the stay. We were there for eight days and usually back in the room at 7:30/8 at night so having the extra room for our family at night was really nice. If you really want to experience Kaanapali beach you may want to look at the properties South of Black Rock.

Overall, we had a great experience at Aston Kaanapali Shores! We stayed in a one-bedroom unit with a full kitchen, and our patio faced toward the beach, which was a beautiful bonus. The pool areas were refreshing, and the drinks were great. The beach was just steps away, with excellent snorkeling spots nearby. We also loved that there were restaurants and food trucks within walking distance. Plus, the property offered rentable beach gear at a good price for multiple days. Would definitely stay here again!

The Aston is an older building, but very well kept, clean and the front reception staff friendly and accommodating. The two pools were never really that busy, and the beach bar at the lane pool served delicious drinks and food. Pool area was always kept clean, sometimes a bit hard to find a lounger right by the pool but theres a beautiful green lawn to hang out in the shade of a palm tree and relax. Bring your yeti to sip your own beverages at the pools. The Aston's beach is fine for some ocean time although more lava rocks in the water than other beaches on the north west side, but that didn't hamper the experience. The water is still warm and you're in Maui, so there is never a bad experience. This is north Ka'anapali Beach, a solid 40 minute walk along the busy boardwalk to Black Rock and the main beach. Everyday we explored a new spot for snorkelling and wave jumping and this location is perfect as its 10-15 minute drive from at least 10 beautiful beaches. The shopping plaza across the street has a Times market with all the food and liquor essentials and the best poke around, the pizza place is delicious and sells dole whip. Went to the food trucks one night, plenty of choices and variety. Overall a fantastic stay and would stay here again.

The view is excellent and the kitchen is great for a longer stay. The pool is big enough and not crowded. We can get our chairs easily. The hot pool is good after a warm swim.

Our second stay at this property and it didn’t disappoint. Great front desk service. The staff are super friendly and courteous. We played pickleball everyday on their well maintained courts. Great vacation experience for the family.

What’s not to like? They had everything! The pools were awesome. The beach is right there. I went to some other hotels just to check out their beaches and pools. Some have nicer pools but are in too public areas. This place is so calming and nice. Would recommend this place a thousand times over!!!

Parking was easy and relatively cheap. While the building was older, it was reasonably clean. The staff does an amazing job keeping the property clean and beautiful! Really amazing for travel with kids and relatively reasonably priced for such great access to the beach!

Pool areas were nice except for the uncontrolled children which of course isn’t the fault of the hotel. Ocean right across street. Food trucks next door with dinners to take out. Grocery store right across the street which was very convenient. Good location for the hotel with a nice walking path. Room could be updated. Bed comfortable. Restaurant on property was good for breakfast, not great for lunch although it could’ve been our server, Angie, who made the lunch not so enjoyable. She was abrupt and unfriendly. Unfortunately, 2 days into our stay we had cockroaches. A call to housekeeping and they brought us traps. I know it’s an island but I don’t expect to pay this kind of money to have roaches. No daily housekeeping. Internet service was sporadic at the pools. TV signals had to be rebooted a few times, especially on Super Bowl Sunday! Overall the stay was fine, except for these few situations.

First issue: We stayed in the 2-bedroom 2 bath, garden view suite and saw the first cockroach 3 days into the visit. Front Desk sent housekeeping to rectify the problem. 4 days later, our last day, we had multiple roaches in each bathroom, kitchen & dining room. We notified the front desk of the additional roaches. They were sorry to hear of the activity & would take care of it for the next visitors. Roaches weren’t part of my hotel plan in Maui. I won’t stay there again. Second Issue: was the Trip to Hana set up by their concierge. The driver was self-indulgent and took us where he felt like going. I’ve done this tour before & am aware of the sights he neglected to take our group this trip. He told us from the start that it was his prerogative to take us where he wanted to go. Among a couple of scenic stops, he showed us a bank, to show us they are open only 30 minutes per day, and a gas station to show us the cost of gas in Hana is $25 per gallon. He passed by the banana bread shop that he was obligated to take us to, then took us to his favorite banana bread place. Then we stopped at the place where he told us he was going to pick up his dinner on the way back, and we stopped there again as stated, on the way back for his dinner pick up. It was a disappointment and a lost day. I hope this feedback helps others.

The hotel is located near grocery stores and shops. If you live being central, the hotel location is 10 from Napolili and Kanapali, 25 minutes from Mailea arbor, and 45 minutes from OGG airport. If you rent a car, the hotel location has easy access to those places. The pools and hotel landscape are fantastic. The rooms, however, are not so great. As soon as we entered the room, we met with a large roach saying “aloha” to us. The carpet seemed like was never washed, so I didn’t touch my feet in that carpet whatsoever. The room has microwave, refrigerator and stove. The bathrooms are ok, but old. The rooms need major renovation. I didn’t feel clear. The balcony has a nice view. If you want to support residents, and the economy in Lahaina, I encourage you to visit Maui. We had tons of fun there

The Bad: The rooms are very old. The door to the washer/dryer would not work. The bathroom overhead lighting was the fluorescent style with the translucent covers and they were all mismatched with some hanging down. The sofa-bed was awful. The good: The old school vibe with the real wood decorations and furniture gave the place a cool 1960's style.

This property was an excellent fit for family. We loved being able to cook and do laundry for a family with kids. We traveled with group and the spacious rooms made it possible to spend time together. The rooms were clean but the furnishings were dated. We had some minor maintenance issues but they were resolved quickly. Staff was friendly and the grounds were lovely.

Great location. Rooms a bit old. Only one bed and the sleeping could was not suited for sleeping as you could feel every single spring, so not a comfortable sleep. Great children’s pool and also another one for adults. Right at the beach which was a very nice one and also 10 minutes from Whalers Village and another beach and bay in opposite direction with turtles swimming.

The room was great for our family. It was very spacious. Easy to get to the pool and the beach. The kitchen had everything we needed. The washer and drier was nice to have in our room. The BBQs were in a strange location by the parking garage. They only brought towel upon request. They would clean your room for an additional charge.

I spent thousands on a week at this Maui resort expecting a premium experience, but what we received was shocking. We arrived at 6:00 p.m., on time for check-in, yet Kara at the front desk insisted the only garden-view room available was on the ground floor with a blocked view. We offered to wait until midnight for a cleaned room or even upgrade and pay extra for any upper-floor room. She still refused and gave us a “reservations” phone number that had already closed. For 30–40 minutes we begged her to honor the room we had paid for. Her behavior was so offensive and dismissive I was close to calling the police. Learning that she suddenly provided a 5th-floor room in the same category we had booked all along, proving it had been available the entire time. We raised this with the assistant manager. He offered one free breakfast but never followed up or apologized. After checkout, when we asked why only part of our card had been charged, Kara’s response was “I don’t know, talk to the manager.” The furniture was outdated, housekeeping only came when specifically requested, and the overall quality was far below what you expect in Maui at this price. Spending thousands of dollars in a premium destination should not be ruined by dishonesty, disrespect, and rude staff like Kara. This resort failed on all counts. Avoid it. There are many other places in Maui where guests are treated with honesty and respect. I will never return.

I loved the location of this property because it sits right on the beach. It has an old school, Polynesian vibe, which we loved. The place seemed to be older but clean. Definitely probably needs some upgrades in the rooms. But what I liked least about the whole experience was being told that someone was going to come and fix the TV and never showed up. I contacted the front desk twice and even walked down to talk to the front desk each time they assured me someone would be up shortly. I don’t think they ever had any intention of fixing the TV. We were lied to and dismissed.

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful! We ran into some issues upgrading through Expedia, which initially tried to charge an extra $1,200. However, when I contacted the hotel directly, they were able to assist right away, and the upgrade ended up costing less than half that amount. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with leis and a box of chocolate. Our room had a beautiful sunset view from the balcony and was conveniently located within walking distance to the beach. The beach gear rental attendant also had a great sense of humor, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I would stay here again if I find myself in Maui.

We liked everything about this property. It was clean, nice and comfortable and the grounds and pool were immaculate. A bit dated, but well kept and that added to its charm! Outstanding check-in experience with welcoming and helpful staff. I appreciated the discounts I received for being an Expedia VIP as well. Will definitely be back!

We loved our stay here. Booked the Aloha suite and the views from almost everywhere in the Condo were breathtaking. Suite itself was beautifully appointed with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We enjoyed the most spectacular sunsets chilling on our balcony and woke up every morning to the sound of the waves. Grounds are well maintained and we used the main pool every day as well as the beach. Lovely sandy beach with great snorkelling. Only negative was the Beach Club restaurant. We ate here once early during our stay and didn’t go back. Given the stunning setting the experience could be so much better here both in terms of the food and the ambience. Staff were lovely but the food was average for the price and there was little atmosphere. There are amenities close by the hotel for eating, shopping but the main centre is a bit away so you should factor transport costs. Overall we had a great family stay and would definitely return to this lovely resort which enjoys the most stunning sea and Island views.

This was our second time staying here and again, it was a wonderful experience. Pros- right on the beach, room was clean and spacious, pools are amazing, all staff were very friendly and accommodating, food and drinks at bar and restaurant were better than expected and large portions, coffee hut in hotel was decent (we also found coffee within walking distance too), close to a grocery store and multiple dining options, including the food trucks next door which we enjoyed, and the stores at the resort were great and convenient. Cons- the room was a little dated but not a big problem, wish the kitchen had a few more cooking gadgets, wish the exercise room was included in resort fee. Overall we loved it and will be back!

Quiet, peaceful, great location to grocery and ABC Stores, great local restaurants. Our only complaint was the beachfront restaurant. The hosts/servers were very slow. We waited 15 minutes to be seated in a virtually empty restaurant on two separate days, so we went elsewhere instead. Jazz Bar/Grill directly across the street is awesome!
