This hotel is really welcoming, clean and convenient. It was my family's favourite spot even though it was possibly the cheapest night of our trip around California. Our kids loved the little breakfast room, especially the pancake machine! Staff were really friendly and the whole place had a really relaxed vibe. Located just opposite the beach, it had a fire pit, heated pool and hot tub. A great place to stay!

Nice location, across the road from the ocean. The only oceanview rooms are on the second floor. There is no elevator. The morning “breakfast” consists of coffee and muffins every day.

The location is the best! We love staying here for the beautiful view, inviting fire pit and swimming pool and spa. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. They have a small breakfast area that is clean and restocked during breakfast time. They have EV charging stations too.

Old Design Motel with good bones and nice upgrades to rooms including bathrooms. Great pool and firepit. Breakfast is light but coffee is excellent. Great bakery not far away. Boardwalk just across the street. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Extremely clean bedroom but a slight “ musty” smell in the bathroom. Must be damp under floor tiles or behind shower surround as no visible evidence of water leaking. Nice continental breakfast with very friendly staff

Overall, the stay was nice. We enjoyed the location and everything was clean and ready when we arrived; however, I wish I had read more into the pet friendly rooms. My allergies were set off when staying in the room. It smelled musty, but everything was clean and I couldn't figure out where the smell was coming from. I'm assuming we had a pet-friendly room and wasn't told. Other than that and the thin walls, the stay was enjoyable.

Room was clean and quiet. Fairly large. Good shower.They have a small lawn with adirondack chairs for sunset viewing and a small pool with jaccuzi. Also a fire pit. A good choice for Moonstone Beach. The property is near the northern end of motel row and has no restaurant/bar. So it's a quiet place to stay (provided your neighbors are quiet of course. Ours were.)

Lovely modern room, very clean. BUT there is no sound proofing between rooms. Noise from surrounding rooms is terrible. Don’t stay there unless you’re prepared to put up with it. At a cost of £225 for one night I would have expected to not have to listen to other people’s noise

Location was nice and the hotel itself was clean. Rooms were a good size for two adults and two small kids. The kids used the pool and jacuzzi. However, we left one night early because we could hear every step the people above us took. It was very loud and disruptive day and night whenever we were in the room. If I had known this I would have booked the top floor instead.

Reserved a room with a partial ocean view, you actually had to leave the room to see the ocean. Room had a window air conditioner/ heater, worked good but very loud, mini fridge froze everything when set on high. Front office staff very friendly, continental breakfast was as advertised, hard boiled eggs,bagels , pancakes, muffins ,toast, peanut butter and jelly , and cream cheese. Oat meal, milk, juice , coffee and tea, very nice.

Pros are that it's right across from the beach and has been newly remodeled and everything looked fresh and up to date. The one major con was the paper thin walls. I could hear people next door clear as day when they were talking.

An older motel that has been beautifully transformed into a modern boutique style inn. Beautiful views of the sea from our second floor room. Everything newly and tastefully updated and renovated. All the staff I encountered from the front desk to the maintenance guys were top notch with customer service. This place is great and I would recommend it to anyone. Oh and the bed was very comfortable!

Nice place, awful check in. Nice little motel. Clean, comfortable beds and pillows. One star lost because of the rude employee who checked us in. We have a service dog. The employee was unaware that service dogs stay free. I showed him a disabilities website that explained the law and he said,”I don’t care. You can find anything on the internet.” I presented him with my dog’s credentials and twice more he said. “I don’t care.” Fortunately, at checkout, the fee was removed from our bill. Two things In summary: people placed at a hotel desk need to know the law. Secondly, a rude individual doesn’t belong in a hospitality, service industry. Period.

The property itself was clean and in a good location. Room was basic. Grounds were well maintained. The fire alarm went off at 4 in the morning with no fire and we tried to call what was supposed to be a 24 hour number. Phone in room didn’t work so called on our cell phone. No one answered. Left a message. No one called back. So there we were not knowing what to do at 4 in the morning with the alarms going off. It seemed to be hotel wide as other people came out of their rooms to look outside too, gentleman at the desk in the morning seemed disinterested when I told him what happened. No apology. Manager did call later and apologize but by then it was too late. It ruined our night’s sleep and we were very tired trying to get out and enjoy our vacation that day.

The actual hotel was nice enough. Me and my partner booked it because of a wedding we were attending. On the night of the wedding, we got back to the hotel pretty late and were tired and smelly, so we both took a 15 minute shower and knocked out. The next morning I get a knock on the door and it's the manager of the hotel. I thought she might have received a complaint about us showering late at night, which would have been understandable and I would have apologized. Instead she accuses me and my partner of "Partying all night" and threatens to call the police which was patently ridiculous. I explain we got back late and went straight to sleep after showering and she just says "NO, you're lying. You were up all night partying". Keep in mind that as soon as I got out of the shower my girlfriend was already fast asleep, and I fell asleep shortly after. The manager would not even consider anything we had to say.

Check in with Jack was friendly and quick. Hotel has history, quaint, cozy and in excellent condition. The rooms are wonderful! Beautifully done , clean and cozy. Bed was 8 out of 10 . Location perfect. Easy walk to restaurant and oceanside boardwalk. Nice surprise was the breakfast room. Young man at check out was informative and friendly. Short drive to Hearst Castle. Lovely stay at Castle Inn!!

This property is located right across the highway from the Moonstone Boardwalk and has excellent beach access. The property is clean, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The continental breakfast is very limited, but the staff makes sure everything is fresh and well stocked. The fire pit area is nice and there is really comfortable sitting areas where you can sit and enjoy the beauty of the beach. We will definetly stay here again and recommend it to all our friends!

Stayed the night of July 23 before we drove up to San Francisco. Excellent property and would very highly recommend. Great pool, hot tub and outdoor fire pit. Loved the property, walk across the street to the coast and an elevated boardwalk, Adirondack chairs to watch the sunset, fire pit, pool and jacuzzi. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 stars was the continental breakfast.
