The parking that comes with the hotel fee is worth a lot as parking all over SF is becoming more and more difficult and expensive. The rooms have been upgraded since our last visit years ago. Staff is friendly and helpful as to recommendations on dining and travel in the area. I highly recommend Castle Inn.

Awesome place to stay right in the middle of everything. Staff were great, room was clean, free parking which in huge in San Francisco I would definitely stay there again. It would be my first choice.

Tight parking-no public restrooms when checking in. The area seemed fine. Check in person said a lot of car break ins- offered early check in. He was behind a locked office-no access-small window. We left everything in the car, no problems. 10-15 min walk to Fisherman\'s Wharf. Felt safe. Very Clean parking garage, room was nice. Clerk showed us areas to avoid on a map, safe areas, and "Welcome to San Francisco." haha

Two Walgreens & one Trader’s Joe at walking distances. Plus, the room is equipped with a microwave, a refrigerator, and a coffee machine. Business trip friendly.

An affordable hotel in a fantastic area of the city. It is very no frills/basic accommodations, though. But you cannot beat the price. Hotel was comfortable. Room facing Broadway was slightly noisy at times but nothing unbearable. I’d definitely stay here again. Just want to be clear about that. Lose the carpets and switch to the vinyl flooring, though. Or replace the carpets throughout. They’re in dire need of changing.

Friendly staff! Damien welcomed us and gave us a map of things to do during our stay. He was kind enough to let us know what areas were not safe to be in. The room was very clean and we felt safe during our stay. Parking was superb! Highly recommend them! Our room was cleaned daily!! Super plus!!!!

Castle Inn solved all expectations. Mine was far above an average stay. The room was comfortable and clean. A slight odor of disinfectant is my only complaint, but how much can I complain about that? Its presence is more assuring than its absence.

I thought a hotel with this many reviews and still a high rating would be a good option, but it did not meet expectations. The building is just run down. Carpets were old and torn in some areas. There was black mold in the window AC vents. Room was small without much night-stand space. Parking was very tight. When I brought the black mold issue to reception for their awareness, they tried to accommodate. He offered to move us to a different room (which had the same problem) or to give me $30 to not write a bad review! (I didn't take it, of course!) To be fair, if you're looking for a room in SF walking distance to the wharf for under $200 a night, this might be as good as you can get. I can't imagine what it takes to upkeep a building in that city. We didn't see any homeless in that area of the city, and were able to walk to Ghirardelli Square.

We really enjoyed our stay. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The carpet was pretty old and needs to be updated, but that’s the only con. Good location, we loved the free parking (but it’s tight to get in). Would stay here again! Great value!

Such a nice place to stay within an easy walk to Fishermen’s Wharf! Quiet with black out curtains. Room was large and allowed me to do my full stretches. There’s a refrigerator with a freezer, microwave, coffee maker. The room has comfy chairs with plenty of sitting spaces on both sides of the King Bed (the mattress was a bit soft for our liking). Finally there is a long spacious desk space. We could have stayed here comfortably for several days.

Room was pretty clean, which was a plus. The parking is not great. The bathroom itself is very small, so if youxre a larger person, you might want to try somewhere else. Walls are paper thin. I would try staying somewhere else next time but id goce this an ovet all 7.5.

Overall a good stay. The bed was large and comfortable, the shower hot, and all toiletries were provided. Nice bonus: a coffee machine with coffee in the room. There were also enough parking spaces available. We were lucky to get a spacious room, but unlucky that it was right across from a noisy ice machine, which was loud even at night. Still, a solid choice.

Pretty decent experience overall. It definitely felt like an average motel - cheap linens, limited toiletries (only soap and shampoo), mediocre bed, etc. But the location was convenient and felt safe, albeit loud. Most pleasant surprise was actually the blackout curtains! They did an excellent job keeping all light out of the room.

Place and room is clean and good, service was friendly and okay but what is annoying is the noise level. I was in room 116, 3rd room from back end of the bldg but street noise is unbearable with window shut and AC on. Ear plug helped some until people above and around the room stomp, drop stuff and slam doors. If you prefer quiet place to rest, this is not the motel for you. I wish they did show the noise level as part of the rating

The location is excellent as it is within walking distance to Pier 39 and union square and also buses to the Golden Gate Bridge. We arrived early and our room was ready to check in. The front desk (Damien) went all the way to help us to solve the luggages issue that we face. He shared useful information. Very happy with the place, location and service provided.

Castle Inn was very satisfying. When I made a reservation, they responded quickly to my questions about parking, and after checkout, they safely managed my luggage storage and parking. The location is very good for sightseeing, and the facilities were clean. Although it is not large, it is good value for money for a one-day stay, and the free parking is very attractive.

The check in took literally 2 minutes, paid and I got the keys. For check out I just left key in room and left. Rooms & bathroom were clean , bed was comfy and blanket, sheet & comforter were in good shape. Next time I would ask for top floor. folks above we’re walking around too much around 230 am, great location, street was surprisingly quiet

We very much enjoyed our stay. Although an older property, the room was very clean and comfortable. We appreciated Damon (front desk clerk) looking after our luggage until we could gain access to the room. We had arrived in San Francisco on a cruise, so were in a taxi by 8am from the cruise ship terminal. Damon allowed us to leave our luggage, and when the room was ready, he called us to let us know. He had even taken the luggage up to our room for us. Excellent service! Damon kindly gave us a map of the city and marked out areas we should avoid. We did notice some dark spots on the exterior of the air conditioning units and supposed it was likely mold spots. But we enjoyed our stay and found it very convenient for the bus and only a couple of walkable blocks from the Cable Car. The price was within our budget and overall we enjoyed our stay there very much.

Natalie was the hotel super modern and very inviting, the room was very clean, the location was great, and the parking was easy. What really pushed our stay over the top and made it truly spectacular was the customer service given to us by Damon at the front desk! He was the best! We can’t see enough wonderful things about him and the help he offered us. We would absolutely recommend this property and we plan to stay here again the next time we’re in town.

The basement garage provided free parking, but it takes some care and effort to maneuver the car to fit through the extremely narrow entrance. After we checked out, management was affable in storing our baggage until 5:00 pm to enable us to do more sightseeing. Overall, I recommend this hotel for basic comfort, location and reasonable price.

Very basic hotel. Not a room you want to stay in other than for sleeping. Old and damp carpet, needed to blast air condition to overcome the smell despite it being a cold day. There is free parking which is a great advantage and it’s very close to Polk Street with its restaurants. The staff were very kind and it was easy to check in. I would recommend it if you’re really just looking for a place to sleep not to stay in and enjoy.

Liked that it felt safe even for a women alone to walk to nearby restaurants at night or wait for an airport Uber at 4am. It was clean and quiet. Near a trolley line, and short Uber rides to the piers, Chinatown, north beach neighborhoods. The staff helped us out by lending us a computer mouse (thank you) and were generally helpful and responsive. What I didn't like- no on site breakfast. (there was an in-room tiny coffee pot, plus a mini fridge and microwave- I'm just lazy). And if you share a room the only private place to change is the tiny bathroom- the sink is outside the bathroom so the space with a door really is quite small. Overall, given prices in San Francisco, I'd stay here again. Location and safety are priorities.

the value for the place is really just incredible. A super reasonable price for a really solid hotel. It’s definitely not a 5 star hotel but it’s easily a top option at its price point. Free parking was also a huge luxury coming from someone who drove into the city. There’s some really great restaurants and bars nearby, plus it’s close to Hot Cookie and Bob’s Donuts if you have a sweet tooth like me. This is definitely a place i’ll be returning to when the time comes.

We really enjoyed our stay! The location was great, and our room had a nice city view. The microwave and refrigerator were newish, and there was even a separate freezer! And free parking in the city. The bed was somewhat soft. The windows wouldn’t open more than 1/2 an inch even though we were on the third floor which resulted in the room being more stuffy than I like.
