We love this property and have stayed here twice now. We like its proximity to pretty much everything we wanted to see in St. Louis. My favorite part is the gym. There used to be a full spa and fitness center, but it seems the spa part closed during COVID. They left all the excellent fitness equipment, though, so this is the best-equipped hotel gym I've ever seen. I would stay here again just for the awesome gym.

I think it’s ridiculous to charge a resort fee when the pool is also a ‘membership’ club for locals. So as a guest of the hotel the pool is rammed by locals, and I pay an extra fee, not optional, post my booking. Valet parking is $50 / day - which is not clear on the signage. I am not cheap, but I hate the cheeky add ons and overpriced extras when it’s meant to be a grand old hotel. Charge up front, be up front, and maybe people won’t feel like their being grifted post check in.

Love a historic hotel. Great location in walkable Central West End. The gym is extensive though dim Nd low ceilinged. The bathroom in our one bedroom suite was small (tiny vanity area) but otherwise great!

The Royal Sonestra has a special history within St. Louis and has hosted many celebrities over 100 years. It's one of only a handful of hotels with a full size movie theater on site. The restaurant has amazing cocktails and delicious food. Being located next to Forest Park, there was easy access to the zoo and other museums in the park.

If you can get a good rate, there is a lot to love about The Chase. When I lived in St. Louis the catchphrase was “The Chase is the place!” And for decades it has been. From movie stars to politicians, ANYBODY who is anybody has chosen The Chase. And that’s still the case today. The hotel has a movie theater off the lobby, three great restaurants, a gorgeous pool … The list goes on and on. The pricey restaurant - The Tenderloin Room - has been one of the best steakhouses in St. Louis ever since I can remember … If it’s not a 5-star, it sure looks and feels and tastes like one. Relaxing on a shaded couch by the pool, enjoying a refreshing drink, was something I did as often as I could during my stay. This is a midtown hotel - which means it’s centrally located (this is important because St. Louis is spread out with many separate neighborhoods offering a variety of entertainment and dining. If you are tempted by downtown hotels, you need to know that St. Louis does not have as vibrant a downtown as some other cities. Certainly there are things to do, many bars and great music downtown but you’re still going to have to Uber to get there even if you’re staying downtown. The Chase is literally across the street from one of the best city parks in the country: Forest Park. There you will find a truly World Class zoo (FREE!) also a World Class art museum, history museum, planetarium, paddleboats, and more. Plus, the hotel is next to The Central Westend dining/bars/shopping.

We enjoyed our stay, however, the toilet was very low to the floor, which we dealt with, AND, after drying off with "clean" towels two different days, an occupant noticed brown stains on the towels he used. Which totally grossed US out.

The hotel common areas are very nice. However, the rooms need updating. The rooms have dark brown carpet which needs replacing. The white sheets are crisp but the duvet was light extremely weight. I requested an extra blanket. Housekeeping delivered two light brown, worn blankets. One had a stain and smelled like smoke. The location is great so I will stay here again. I hope the hotel rooms receive a facelift.

This is a historical property in the Central West End, close to Forest Park, variety of dining options and bars. It is a bit dated (for some reason Shining comes to mind 😀). Staff is excellent and experience overall would have been great if not for the blood stains on the pillow cases and sheets (we had to strip them off).

The bathroom was disappointing for a king suite. We had to ask for bathrobes. The room had cobwebs above the bed. Love the Chase but could be a lot better. We like to stay in the CWE to support the diversity. The young female bartender was amazing. Don’t know her name but she was awesome!

The room was nice, the bathroom was nice, but the street noise was very bad all night long. A map of the hotel (as in which elevators serve which room numbers) would have been nice as would restaurant menus and information about the services available. Also, WiFi didn't work very well on my tablet.

The room was very spacious. We felt like the air conditioning wasn’t working very well so it was warm at night in the separate bedroom. There was construction of a building right next to our room and it was very loud and started as early as 7 am. We brought a luggage cart up to our room but our room was actually up a couple of steps and no ramp was available so we couldn’t take the cart to our door but rather we had to leave the cart and take our luggage up separately. It was very close to many restaurants and shopping so that was nice. Self parking was easy to use.

The property is beautiful & the hotel is elegant. The staff is also great. This was our 3rd stay there, but, again, we could not get an internet connection. The staff also tried, but, still no internet service on the laptop. Mobile phone access is no problem, it works great. There also needs to be more information handouts in the rooms; ex...food menus & phone #'s for the 3 restaurants. Also pool & gym info. Where is the gym ? Lastly, safety bars in the bathtub/shower.

I checked in on a Sunday evening and there was an event at the hotel. At 11:30 PM, I called the front desk because the music from the event was so loud I was not able to sleep. Guests of the event were staying on my floor, and were running up and down the hallways, yelling to one another, laughing, etc. The front desk put me on hold, but never came back. I called again and asked if they could send security to my floor to request the noisy guests keep it down (this was a Sunday evening and I had to work early the next day). They did nothing. I ended up having to get a room at a different hotel so that I could get some sleep. Further, there was no room service, and no glassware in the room. Just some paper cups for the Keurig coffee maker. Note - this is NOT a 4-star hotel. It used to be. I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10-12 years and while it used to be a lovely place to stay, it has gone so far downhill. I am really disappointed in the lack of service and amenities and the apathetic service. You are better off to stay somewhere else.

Booked this hotel due to it being close and available to the hospital that my wife was in. Contacted the property the night that I planned on staying and let them know we figured we’d be a late check in due to not knowing when my wife would get released from the er. At 3:45am I arrived at the hotel with my 18 month old and found all doors was locked requiring a key card as expected. Called the hotel several times while looking into the lobby for staff no one ever answered or was seen in the hotel. At 4:30 I gave up contacting and returned to the hospital parking garage to wait till she was released. Hotel looks spectacular just wish the night time customer service was the same.

This hotel is excellent in all ways. My unexpected upgrade resulted in a spectacular room with beautiful views. Caren at the registration desk does an outstanding job. My stay at this hotel could not have been better. I will definitely return.

Room was nice and outside pool was fun. Set parking was easy. Tried having breakfast at the Preston one morning. Waited 20 minutes for a table. Finally sat down and after 22 minutes or waiting for service we got up and left and went somewhere local for breakfast. Sat outside at the pool area. Waited 45 minutes for our sandwich then another 40 minutes to pay. Not sure if they were short staffed but for what we paid to stay I would have expected top notch service. Very nice place but will look for other options on my next visit.

Our three days were magical as our stay was to celebrate my husband’s 82nd birthday. Although all the staff was great, Anne at the front desk was exceptional! I had the opportunity to see her interactions with various visitors while I was sitting in the lobby and her attention to make everyone feel special with a huge smile and professionalism. Please let her know it was noticed.

Very nice property in a great location. Comfortable room, nice outdoor heated pool big enough to do laps. Having the movie theater in the lobby is fun. However, a few occasions of weak service: I arrived a little bit early from the airport and they asked for all my info only to not have a room and told to come back later whereupon I had to repeat all the information. My room was not cleaned one day, and when I went to the desk at night to ask for coffee service for the next morning, the front desk looked at me like I was nuts - why are you bothering me? The coffee service was sent up within 20 minutes though. One time I wanted to eat at the hotel for breakfast but there was no host for several minutes and the waiter I asked about it said the person was “out back” and he did not seat me, so I left. The front desk personally helpfully suggested a nice place for breakfast. Another time I asked the front desk for change to provide tips and they said they don’t do that. Maybe they are a bit understaffed. I’d stay there again because I did enjoy the facility.

I arrived a little after 3 and was told if I wanted to check in early (4 pm checkin) I’d have to pay an extra $25. BTW- the room was ready. I said “no thanks” I then asked about a late checkout today. Checkout is at 11 am, late checkout up to 1 pm was I believe an additional $20 and until 4 pm an additional $50. This hotel isn’t that spectacular to justify this. I also heard other people complaining about the early check in. I won’t be back. Clearly being an Expedia Gold doesn’t get you anything at this hotel.

Maybe it’s the location of the property, none of my family got a good sleep when we stayed here. We heard non-stop traffic the whole night. Also the room service staff came to knock at the door a whole hour before the scheduled check out time.

The Chase is a grand hotel in a lovely area of St. Louis. It’s away from the bustle of downtown but close to the attractions of Forest Park and the restaurants of Clayton. It’s quite simply the best hotel in the city—and one of the best in the Midwest.

Have stayed at The Chase many times. The staff is attentive and helpful. Easy walk across the street to Straub’s grocery for snacks. Across street from beautiful Forest Park for a morning walk. Easy access to Forest Park Parkway, Lindell and Hwy 40. Great spot.

Really beautiful hotel. Rooms are clean and large and access to restaurants is great. The hotel does however seem understaffed as it relates to the front desk. In addition one of the restaurants in the hotel breakfast service was exceedingly slow.
