Nob Hill Hotel

Elevator needs to be serviced.

Freshly update and very cute. The rooftop patio was also amazing. Would definitely stay here again.

Restaurant was permanently closed due to renovation. This was not advertised on their website. Breakfast was poor. Coffee was horrible. Air conditioner didn't work. Ceiling fan was extremely loud, squeaky and high pitched. Room had no sound insulation. The room next to us that shared a connecting door had a gap on the bottom so we could hear everyone and everything happening on the next room including trips to the bathroom, tv, cell phones, talking etc.. The one broken down luggage cart did not fit in the very ancient elevator. The ancient elevator took upwards of 10 to 15 minutes to arrive when called. The shower was moldy. There wasn't any type of shelf for toiletries. The led light used to light the hed head bord was broken and flashed like a crazy strobe light. Vallet setvice was very inconsistent. There was no plan on place to deal with street access when outside work was being done. We had to wait 30 minutes for our car when checking out. At which point they asked if we could walk a block up hill over to the garage that housed our car. We had numerous bags so i saud absolutely not. I mean what were we paying vallet service for if no one actually brought us our car. They eventually figured out how to get our car within 15 feet of the hotel. The front desk attendant did help us with loading our bags. All in all a horrible place to stay. I was extremely disappointed because their advertisement and reviews seemed positive. I will never stay there again.

Take note- the only option for parking is a 40 dollar a night lot a few blocks away. And the guy at the desk was kind of shady about this. My advice is to arrive mid-afternoon if you are driving and go around the block looking for spots. You only have to pay between 9am and 6pm. Oh and their "fitness center" is 2 adjustable dumbbells and 2 treadmills. Otherwise cool place to stay-very walkable and convenient neighborhood.

Location is great, lovely property and accommodation. Just a couple notes: The property dates to 1906 and as such, there is only one elevator and it is old fashioned (where you have to open a door and then slide the grate, etc), I mention it because it can be awkward to operate if you have lots of luggage like we did (we were on a lengthy road trip), and while stairs were also available, they were narrow and winding and would have been even more difficult. Additionally, while parking is advertised, be aware that not only is it valet and not onsite (but I had no safety concerns regardless), there was a time limit imposed as well. We could not drop our car off later than 10pm (which was not an issue), however we were told we could not claim our car until 8am. Fine for many to be sure, but our travel plans required us to be checked out and on the road before then. So we ended up having to pay for a different parking garage nearby in order to have access to our vehicle at our convenience. Which was fine, same price, just about 3 blocks away; however not everyone might be comfortable with that set up, and I wanted to bring awareness as I don’t recall reading anywhere that the parking offered by this hotel had time limits. So just FYI. If you have no parking constraint dilemma, this place is pretty fantastic and I do recommend.

No parking: hotel offers an expensive valet or makes you park in a not so secure parking lot.

I recently spent a night in San Francisco and found the Nob Hill Hotel. Location: The hotel is two streets down from California St. So from the hotel, you can walk north along Hyde st and discover some beautiful bars and eateries at the top of the hill. South, do not go south. You may look down the hill and think its a good idea, but its Tenderloin. Staff: Very nice and friendly. Quick to help and return your room deposit Free Breakfast: Its toasted bread with spreads and fruit. There is oatmeal but no warm milk. HELLO??? Amenities: Very nice, gym is very basic Room: Room is nice, view is so so. Shower is nice and they actually have a robe. Privacy: Well, this is not like being in a hotel. Its more like being at a home again and sharing a room with my sibling. Now don't get me wrong, I didn't actually have someone in my room, but the connecting door left all the bodily sounds come into my room. Along with the smells of what they had for dinner and after dinner. I'm happy they my "Brother" went to sleep at 1am with TV on and wasn't partying all night. So if you like survival shows, then this could be your jam. LOL

No parking on-site. Public parking is more than 1 mile away. Then you have to walk back to the hotel or take an uber.

Beautiful hotel. Very clean and pretty. Super comfortable sleep and great water pressure. However, the elevator is terrifying. I thought they made it look vintage for the aesthetic, but then I got stuck in it going up and down for 5 minutes straight and not stopping. Hasn’t been inspected since 2015 according to the permit. Terrifying.

Bedbugs. Back all bitten up and I didn’t even get under the covers

This is advertised as "sound-proof walls" and nothing could be farther from the truth. I could hear people talking/laughing through the walls and floor, not to mention every little sound of people in the hallways. The front desk would not let me change rooms because it cost more and wouldn't waive the charge even though at 1:30am I was calling because I still couldn't sleep. Any room would have been noisy here. There is still construction going on inside (sanding/drilling/banging) and even the housekeeping vacuuming/plastic bag changing was loud. I didn't actually sleep during the nights, so had to come back to "rest" during the day which was even noisier with the maintenance and people coming and going. There is nothing quiet about the rooms or the building, I also heard someone snoring through the wall (or courtyard?). On top of that, as cute and new as the aesthetic seemed, it was filthy. Hairs on the sheets, end table, and semen on the fabric ottoman (among other stains). The shower was so clogged that upon turning it on it's already up to the ankles in about 3 seconds. There was a crackhead parked right outside the hotel at one point during broad daylight throwing garbage/clothing onto the sidewalk with his pants down. There was more human excrement and vomit/urine in this area than usual (that has been an issue in SF for years) and I was disappointed to see it so bad in this location too. I don't think mgmt here cares/knows much about customer service.

Very clean, and comfortable! The bed was so comfortable! Very unique place. I love how it’s decorated and the unique elevator. It was newly renovated, and very quiet. The staff was great also. I will definitely stay there again

It was good enough to sleep for a last minute option but I didn’t feel clean enough to take a shower. You could smell the mildew in the drain. Hair in the bathroom that wasn’t mine, dirty utensils found in between bed and night stand. The bed didn’t have any bed bugs but the top sheet was dirty. I just took it off and slept in a hoodie and long pants. It’s an old building that they redid and updated. Definitely a historic spot but there is a homeless shelter around the corner so just be mindful of your surroundings. I did not feel unsafe.

This hotel was very well run. The staff… especially AK at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The room and hotel were clean and well organized. I would recommend this hotel

As soon as I paid the deposit I seen a cockroach, we went to the parking garage they suggested and they tried to over charge what they originally said. We ended up leaving the room 20 minutes after checking in and go the San Jose at almost 1 am it was very disappointing and frustrating having just drove 6 almost 7 hours from Los Angeles and have to experience that.

I love the Nob Hill. Weve stayed here twice and intend to stay many many more times. Its affordable, clean, and the staff are polite/nice without overdoing it.

Very small room, no area to put your clothes and very noisy street the hotel is on. Heard a lot of police cars or ambulances since the hospital was across the street

The street the hotel is on is pretty clean, felt safe the staff was friendly and welcoming. The room itself was clean and had a comfy bed, the downside is the wifi didn't reach my room, there are also some good restaurant options nearby. Overall was a good stay.

Pretty decent little spot, modest and clean. Only part I didn’t take into account was booking a room with a desk, which my room did not have. Plus side the room had a ceiling fan which you don’t find in more modern hotels. Friendly staff.

Wish I knew better to ask for a quiet room. Who would expect trash pickup at 5:45 AM on Saturday morning and again at 6:15AM on Sunday morning. There was also a dispatch on the street for a fire late at night. The hotel was charming and clean. It was a plus that they offered a discount for parking and nearby places to eat. Trader Joe's is 2 blocks away. They also offer a secure storage for your luggage if you arrive before check in. The only other issue is the old elevator which is difficult to call at times.

The staff was very courteous and friendly. But because our room was on the street side it was incredibly loud all night. And the room was very small.. The toilet was like 14 inches from the bed. It would have been nice if they asked if street side was okay, but it is what it is.

Small room! It is nice, well located, it is an old remodeled hotel, the rooms are very small and do not have air conditioning! just a plug-in fan!!!

Lazy service, room with lots of street noise, colleague had a horrible experience with her ceiling fan turning suddenly turning on in the middle of the night and not being able to stop it for five hours.

While I Was staying in the hotel I decided to go get some food. But before i left i set camera on my laptop to record video and opened a search browser. I left and found a nice pizza by the slice place not far away. got back to my room about 35 minutes after i left. on my way to my door i thought i heard my room door shut. i unlocked the door and no one was there. After watching some tv and eating my pizza i remebered i set the camera. And i Caught a guy in a mask with gloves come in from the fire escape. luckily and not sure why he didnt take anything. dint take my laptop. I reported this to the front desk showed him the video. he asked me to email it to the hotel email. and nothing else. ive never heard from the hotel since even though i have reached out many times. they didnt want to move me to a different room and wasnt going to reimburse me for my room since nothiing was taken. And he didnt seem concerned or suprised. i do not recomend this hotel. out side of that it was a clean and nice hotel with little amenities. and was totaly a fair price for what i paid.

DO NOT STAY HERE! HOTEL STAFF STOLE MY AIRPODS PRO AND JIMMY CHOO PERFUME OUT OF MY PURSE! I called the hotel to complain when the AirPods location came up at a local residence. When I provided the residence address they called the individual and made them return the AirPods. I followed the location of my AirPods from his residence back to the hotel. The hotel didn’t even offer an apology nor to ship the items back to me. Also the individual took the perfume out of the box it was in and left the box in my purse. And denied to have taken the perfume and insisted he only stole my AirPods! If you want to pay to get your stuff stolen from you make sure and book your stay here!

Check in was great and easy. We arrived pretty early but they had a room ready. The front desk staff was great. The area is fine and local to everything. Great little cafe next door too. 10/10

I had a great stay at the Nob Hill Hotel in San Francisco. The hotel was clean, and the staff was exceptionally friendly, even surprising me with a free upgrade. My bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's rest. The hotel itself has a charming historical feel, which adds to the overall experience. If you're looking for a cozy stay with great service in a classic setting, this is a solid choice!

They gave away my room

We tried checking in at 3pm, which is just one hour earlier than their designated check in time (4pm). Although we knew we likely were not going to be able to check in, the front desk person was so rude to us. He didn’t even bother checking if our room might be ready he just said “all of them are being cleaned”. We just dropped off our bags. When we returned in the evening to check in we found a big yellow stain on one of our beds. When I asked if they could change the sheets, the same front desk person said it was not possible as the housekeepers had left??? I asked for more bathrobes as well since we had 4 guests in our room and they only gave us 2 bathrobes. He said they had no more and told ME to ask housekeeping in the morning. On our last morning there, we were woken up to loud music being played. I tried calling the front desk, but no one picked up. I decided to go out myself to locate the source of the music. Turns out it was a different front desk person playing music in the lobby. I asked him to turn down the music and he said ok. Man didn’t move. I asked again and he said “I will, just give me two minutes.” When I returned back to my room I could still hear the music vibrating thru the walls. The staff were so rude here if you want a nice stay in SF this place is not it.

Room had nats throughout the entire stay. We also we’re connected to the wifi and it was disconnected and offline for hours and into the next morning. The phone in the room was also disconnected and not working to call front desk for help. Even though I booked room for two people and when I had a friend visit (wasn’t to sleep over) the front desk person yelled at them and scolded them in the lobby for everyone to hear. Person was on a power trip.

Its by a fire station but that didn't bother me as much once I put the tv on. I enjoyed staying at the hotel. It was a very clean, nice room. The staff were friendly and helpful. The area is very bad! Someone else's review the fan doesn't work. That was true. Someone said about poop on the street and was very true. People didn't pick up after their dogs. There were alot of homeless people to walk by. The area had lots of drug and prostitution activity.

The hotel was beautiful and the rooms were very nice. There was a parking garage a short walk away and the hotel provides a discount for it which was greatly appreciated. Definitely be aware that the neighborhood surrounding it isn’t the greatest, but so long as you know where you’re going you’ll be fine.

Very nice hotel, recently renovated. Close to coffee shops an some nice bars. Easy walk to centre and union square. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

It’s obvious that a LOAD of money was poured into this period building to make a clean, modern, safe hotel experience that pays homage to its Edwardian roots. Bravo, bravo! Nob Hill Hotel is located in a convenient and walkable part of town with many transit options.

Hidden gem in a safe, quiet neighborhood close to everything. Affordable, secure parking nearby. Hotel and rooms are recently remodeled, clean, modern and comfortable, although on the smaller side. Couldn't believe the price!

Staff was super friendly and a great location.

The location was perfect for walking to places of interest.

Property is listed as free parking, but was directed to a to a paid parking spot two blocks away and I had to shell out 40$. Room is ultra small, so much that the door doesn't open all the way as it hits the bed. The guy at front desk had zero clue on what's happening and was expecting us to answer things about the property. Regarding the area, less said the better. Surrounded by junkies everywhere, litter all around. Very unsafe, was extra cautious, just to step out.

This hotel proved to be an incredibly uncomfortable and unhappy place to stay. The provided breakfast was only cereal, fruit, and pastries. The advertised restaurant connected to the hotel was basic and overpriced. The valet parking was inconvenient--we had to regularly leave the car in the middle of a busy street because the curb parking was full. The old-fashioned elevator required us to pull open a door and slide the metal door to get in, which made transporting luggage very difficult. The sink in our room collapsed while we were using it, likely from a combination of its age and the water that would drip from every wall when the shower was on. Despite the sink falling clean off the wall from faulty installation or overlooked signs of age, the hotel took our deposit. The shower took some time to heat up and the knob for adjusting the temperature (in both rooms) was loose and fell to the extremely hot or cool side with the smallest tap. Overall, the price was appealing and the hotel's architecture was charming, but we would not stay here again. It ended up being a stressful, uncomfortable stay.

The bread buffet was stale and gave my friend food poisoning.

Really good in overall but the breakfast is a bit disappointing.

Staff were great including valet. Restaurant was superb. We stayed in room 101, was very very cold and the bathroom wasn’t great, also a little noisy with staff coming and going and residents above. Walking to the room felt like a back staff room and not a guest area. Breakfast was nice and lots of variety but was really let down by paper plates and cutlery.

Quiet Italian restaurant adjoined Walkable Staff welcoming

Was so glad to find this hotel. Great location,and its affordable. We had dinner downstairs at the Italian restaurant, very cute and romantic.

Love the modern look of the hotel with all the great amenities. Especially love that there is a wonderful Italian restaurant at the hotel. Enjoyed an amazing meal there. Highly recommend.

The breakfast was just carbs, no protein options. Facilities are okay, just very dated. No A/C like other buildings due to past infrastructure
