Beautiful place, but no kitchen to cook in, and the bathrooms are ensuite which makes it a bit loud in the room when others are using it. Staff was nice and I LOVE that there was free parking!

I stayed for a Saturday night, in a single queen-bed room on the first floor. Clean, simple, and comfortable room, very quite. Super friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient luggage storage — I dropped off my bag a few hours before checkin, and was able to leave it for 6 hours after checking out then pick it up on the way out of town. Free parking was easy to use and never full, even on the weekend. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent property. Comfortable room with its own bathroom, sink, closet with hangers, safe, fridge, desk. The staff was welcoming and the other guests were great. The kitchen area with tables and couches had a community feel area. It felt safe, unlike most places in San Francisco.

I enjoyed that I could park the car free of charge and explore the city on foot the next day. Nice view of GGB in the evening sun from the balkony. Kind staff. Would definetly book again if I travel by car.

Nice stay. Parking was free; just make sure that you get a space (first come first served). Big rooms with view on the Golden Gate Bridge! We liked it.

Loved my stay! They have free parking good location, curtain on the bunks and cute atmosphere. Only downside is as with anywhere in San fran cars get broken into a lot. A guy who was staying there had his window busted and stuff stolen. Park up top of there is room. Not the hostels fault just beware and don’t leave anything in your car.

Staff was helpful in arranging to have luggage stored by their Bounce partner. Breakfast was good and lounge areas were comfy

It was a hostel, and for a hostel it was very good. The privacy curtains are blackout curtains so they do a good job of keeping out the light. There’s a little sturdy metal shelf with a light and two USB charging ports and two grounded electrical outlets by each bunkbed. They provide sheets, blanket, pillow, towel. There are shampoo, conditioner and bodywash dispensers in the shower. There are some breakfast offerings in the lobby, including instant oatmeal and coffee, but also there are several coffee shops within like a one block radius, including one that’s basically next door. There’s a sushi place, a Ramen place, and a pizza place also within like a couple hundred feet. The room I was and had a good size balcony that overlooked the street. The air conditioner worked well, just make sure you control it at the thermostat. My only complaint is that the lockers were a little small. You could put valuables in there I would fit a laptop and an iPad, but no piece of luggage would fit in there (I guess the New York hostel spoiled me!) the front desk staff are very nice and attentive, they have luggage storage available for no charge as well. Oh and free parking??? You won’t find that like anywhere in San Francisco. It’s a little over a half mile from the really fun windy part of Lombard Street if you feel like taking a short hike to get your heart pounding, haha. Definitely a good hostel to stay in if you can deal with sharing a room with strangers.

Room had everything we needed and was accessible. Hotel offers parking but limited spots on main level , additional in bottom level. Staff were extremely friendly! One downside is just the location , if you’re a light sleeper there is a lot of noise around the area but they do offer complementary ear plugs! I would definitely still stay there again!

The experience over all was lovely. Great location, parking, breakfast, excellent guest services. My only dis is that there was mold on the bathroom walls in my room and some of the other walls looked like there was wallpaper hiding water damage. It was only one night for me so it worked well.

Staff at reception were all friendly and helpful. Room clean and tidy, the heater/aircon unit definitely needs upgrading asap. I would stay again.

The lobby area was quite small and was the only place to socialise or meet others, so this wasn’t the easiest place to meet others but I was able to meet a couple of people. There are socials advertised but these are run by another hostel and are a fair distance to travel to get to. Location was good - close to fisherman’s wharf and a bus route right outside. They also allowed luggage to be stored for a few days whilst I went out of town. Overall I’d recommend and would stay again.

Nice, spatious room, comfortable bed and good location in one of the safer areas of San Francisco. It's a bit noisy because of the road outfront, but it dies down early enough to get a decent night's sleep.

The room was noisy being right on Lombard, even with the sliding glass door to the balcony closed.

Heater was out in our room but they provided a space heater that worked well. Staff was very friendly and helpful

The only Ron I didn’t give 5 stars was because 1 of the beds in a coed 6 room was terrible and 1 pillow in a coed 4 room was bad plus the air conditioner was broken. Fortunately it’s rare you would need a AC in San Francisco. Otherwise it’s 5 star especially the staff - very friendly courteous and knowledgeable.

The staff at Samesun were incredible and very helpful during every step of our stay, would highly recommend this properly to friends family. The location was great for quick access to tourist areas.

This is mine and my partner’s second time staying at Samesun SF and we’ve always looked forward to staying here and greeted by hospital staff and housekeeping. The location is awesome, the room is spacious plus clean and nothing beats that balcony view of the Golden Gate Bridge and people watching the city life. We’ve never had issues with the hotel and staff but our last evening of our four-night stay got confusing. We got into a car accident that didn’t allow us to get back to the hotel till 1:45AM. All of the parking spots were full so we asked Darren at the front desk for suggestions of what to do. Sadly, he was very cold and offered minimal help and gave us suggestions that would make us pay for $30 parking across town, and then we’d have to find additional transportation to get back/to the hotel. When we asked what guests can to do in situations of the parking-lot filling up, he only gave us the one idea above and left it at that. We ended up calling other hotels within walking distance asking if we can park the car for a few hours and gratefully found a place down the block. In all, we would come and stay at Samesun SF again because I know that was just one instance. But coming home after a few days from this trip, this interaction really stuck with us. I figured to say some customer-service empathy at the time would have been good enough at those late hours.

If you’re just looking to hang out and meet people, this is definitely not the place for you. The hosts here act extremely rude and unwelcoming. Overall, the staff is very unpleasant. If you want to walk away with a bad experience — this is the place to go.

The check in was amazing, i am a cab driver who was helping a half paralyzed woman in wheelchair and the clerk was above and beyond kind, considerate and on top of his job!!!

The bus stop is really close! It’s a nice, affordable place.

It was quiet…also very close to the Kusselman Memorial turn around and bus stops literally catch the bus out front one block down and be at the Golden Gate Bridge.

The staff was helpful regardless of what the other reviews said. (Maybe I just got lucky) Very walkable and good place to run if you like running. Walking distance to the wharf. Rooms were spacious (I stayed in a 6 female dorm) had a beautiful balcony. Would recommend staying here (felt safe as a solo traveler and met some cool people).

I’ve stayed at this place many times since 2021, and it’s become one of my favorite spots in San Francisco. Free parking in downtown SF? That’s a real luxury! The staff are super friendly, and the self-service machines and shared spaces are really convenient and well-kept. It's easy and safe to get to all the classic SF landmarks from here — perfect location! One of the things I love most in recent years is the privacy curtains for every bed — such a thoughtful upgrade that makes a big difference. I work in the travel industry myself and actually manage two hotels here in SF. As a fellow hospitality professional, I really appreciate how practical and comfortable this hostel is. Highly recommend it if you're visiting the city!

Nice stay and good room. Also, the front desk service were super cool and friendly. Had the room with city view. Could see the GG from balcony! Breakfast was cereal, yogurt, coffee, tea and water; very basics. Area around very walkable and liked that there was a parking garage, can be limited but i didn't have trouble. Would def stay again!

the debit on my account (303 €) was higher than the proposed cost of the booking (260 €). I think even with a beautifully view on the Golden Gate Bridge this quite a lot for a hostel with a very reduce breakfast offering only coffee and 3 sorts of cereals)

Everything is ok but I would rather a king size bed instead of a queen size bed in a room for two person. The breakfast was only sweet things. Good for the price and petty good located for walking to Lombard street and the Pier.

I loved the cleanliness and friendliness of some staff, other staff was not so friendly. I absolutely loved my overall experience here - it was my first time staying at a hostel - but I was very much disappointed with the breakfast service. I think (1) it should be put out way more in advance since when I was there they set it at around 8am and I would've liked to leave to explore SF at 7am (2) i think it needs more variety
