Brilliant location and lovely clean hotel. Staff are absolutely brilliant and super friendly. Only given 4 stars as was disappointed as stated there is parking. There is a very limited car park and over the 4 days we stayed there we couldn’t get a space. Had to park in public car park across road with an extra £150 costs incurred. Disappointing she. We expected to be able to park. However it is a great hotel and would probably stay again if we come to York again.

Nice hotel, good location, friendly staff, decent room and breakfast. My only issue was the price of the parking which at £30 per day extra seemed a bit expensive with no real alternative, however it was convenient so it is what it is. Would probably stay here again.

Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is excellent and suite we were in had plenty of space for the three of us. In the heart of York right next to Clifford’s tower. Valet parking securely for £25 per 24 hours.

Great location, really close to the city centre. Well equipped gym and nice bar & restaurant. Breakfast was very good. Great Indian restaurant across the road called 29 Streets. Car park directly opposite made it easy to park when we turned up at 8pm.

Beautiful hotel. Front of service / desk a little slow, but was busy, need more staff. £30 excessive to park a car & further £3/hr if later than 12pm. Missed breakfast sadly

The room was dirty and very old fashioned. We found several long black hairs on the carpet in our room that got tangled in our toes and long black hairs on the floor in the bathroom - disgusting! There were lots of cobwebs hanging down in the corner of the ceilings around the window and lamp and dust all over the upright lamp. The room was dirty and old fashioned - it needs a serious upgrade. The area around our room was noisy and the room was stuffy so we couldn’t keep the window open.

We arrived early and although I had messaged the hotel in advance to ask for an early check in the room was not available. The receptionist siad that they would send me a text message when the room was ready but we did not receive a message. We got into the room just after 4.00 and was disappointed as there were crisps and foodstuffs on the floor from the previous occupant We were previously told that the room was not available as it was still being cleaned yet after all of our efforts the room was still presented to us dirty. Not what we would expect from the Hilton?

Easy walk from the train station and in a lovely position opposite Cliffords Tower. The hotel is close to all the attractions and shops with excellent restaurants just around the corner if you choose not to dine in. Always spotlessly clean and the staff couldn't be more polite and helpfull. Have stayed many times now and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Unfortunately the hotel is extremely dated. The carpets, wallpaper, furniture curtains etc. all 90s throwbacks, in a bad way. The bath is narrow and the shower curtain horrible. They were tight with toilet roll also. The ‘double’ bed was the smallest double I’ve slept in, it was more 3/4 length. It was an uncomfortable nights sleep. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and the windows hardly open. The room was stuffy and warm. We would not stay here again. Far too old fashioned. Check out Clementine hotel in Bootham instead - absolutely amazing in every way!

Brilliant location but very noisy room we were on floor 1 facing a court yard and side street which had many pubs on it , people were shouting till the late hours then a bin lorry arrived at 06:30 not ideal ask for a high floor and you will be good

Great location for tourists. Bit dated interior and rooms. We had a king suite. Small, no air con, no fridge, cramped and basic bathroom with limited counter space. Noisy corridor. Breakfast was basic and similar to a budget hotel. This is not good value. For £50 more we could have stayed at the Grand. Staff were really good and the massive tv was fun. If you drive here take advantage of the valet parking. It’s about the same price as parking at the Castle Car park and way more convenient. 6/10 for me.

The room was very modern and well-appointed. We had everything we needed and the design, lighting behind bed were appealing. However, the bathroom was very small and could have used an update. The room was also quite “tight” for a family of 4. For 1-2 people it would be great. For 4, we were tripping over stuff and each other a bit. The hallways and common areas were very nice and well decorated and it was a very good location.

Brilliant location and really helpful and friendly staff. Was disappointed that the room didn't have air conditioning, particularly as it was the hottest day of the year when we visited. Also the room didn't have a mini fridge. Glasses weren't changed when the room was serviced.

The location was super convenient and centralized, so we were able to do everything by walking. The staff was flexible and helpful - we got in in a time crunch (we were rushing to make a walking ghost tour), and they let us park our car and run out to the tour without any fuss. It was greatly appreciated and made our evening!

The hotel is in an amazing location if you want to visit old town York. However for their flagship brand of Hilton we were very disappointed. Upon arriving before check in we were given a bunch of “up sale” pitches for upgrades if we wanted to get a room without waiting. We felt like it was a car sales pitch. The front desk staff weren’t rude but they seemed cold and very impersonal. We opted for an “upgraded” room so we could change and go exploring. I wouldn’t call it much of an upgrade for the additional £40/day. The mattress was old and if I laid to close to the edge I felt like I would roll off. The springs also squeaked every time I sat on the edge. Their “doorman” watched people come and get but I never saw him off help or open the doors for anyone. We travel a lot and use lots of hotels. This certainly did not measure up to expected Hilton standards.

Well let me start by saying we had to leave the hotel and drive home at 1am in the morning thanks to the group that were in the next room to us who had been unashamedly noisey and thoughtless since they arrived in the afternoon. We complained to the staff who were onto this straight away and had given them a warning , however when one of them came back to the room at 11am and decided to slam the door four times before he went out again it was just too much ! We packed up and left, because we knew the rest of the night was not going to go well . The reception staff were fully aware of what was going on and were brilliant in trying to resolve , they were going to move the group to another room , but we said it was too late we were all on edge and felt it better to leave . I can’t fault the lady manager who was on shift she was an absolute star , thank you .

Lovely location. Reception staff helpful on early arrival to York and we were allowed to store our bags. Unfortunately no fridge in room. Scuffed stained inside of bath. No hair conditioner! Had to get out the shower attempted to call reception and house keeping a few times with no answer. My son had to go down to the reception to ask for some and then it was delivered to the room by room service, this was no good not being able to get ahold of reception or house keeping via room phone let alone not having any in the room in the first place. Very disappointing. Able to also store bags before our departure home.

Check in staff not interested, need customer service training. Car parking charges shocking on top of the room rates. Room cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. Definitely not good value for money. The bar/restaurant staff and the concierge were the only people who were friendly and courteous.

William was so helpful checking us in and helping us with the valet service. Our room was super clean and comfortable and the staff went the extra mile to make my partner and I’s first anniversary extra special! Location is super close to all the best parts of York. I will definitely recommend the Hilton York to everyone! Thankyou for a magical stay in my favourite city!

Reception staff were terrible. We completed paperwork on arrival and they said they would text when the room was ready. We came back to the hotel at 4.30pm and it took 15 minutes to sort out a room, I had to show them my email confirmation etc, not sure what happened but whatever we took time to do earlier had disappeared. The next day we checked in our bags and when wr returned they took our tickets and came back after a good 10 minutes with 1 holdall, not as described. I had to go to the baggage room myself as they bags could not be located by the staff. Room was ok, bathrooms are awful. Staff in the bar and at breakfast are absolutely fantastic 10/10

Overall had a good stay. Friendly and helpful staff. The city wall is very close to the hotel. The Clifford’s tower is right outside of the hotel. Shambles is less than half a mile away. It is convenient to get there before the big crowds show up.

Superb Hilton -- absolutely phenomenal professional and welcoming front desk staff. Excellent location directly across from the historic Clifford's Tower, and in very close walkable proximity to so much of what makes this city so magical -- less than ten minutes from The Shambles and some of the best cask ale pubs in the region. The hotel and our room looks like it's recently greatly benefited from a good refurbishment (and smells a bit too much like it, too - a small negative). An excellent and affordable choice for a stay.

This hotel was roughly 15 minutes or less walking distance from all the main attractions in York. Great to walk out and see the castle right in front. The rooms were clean and decent size for the double bed room, and had pleasant staff. The included breakfast had a nice assortment of hot and cold food options. I didn't like that WIFI is an addition, but I believe that's standard amongst Hilton chains, and not specific to this location. (Although the city is so quaint we didn't need it.) Some good restaurants around it as well. We had a great stay in York!

The service was superb with polite and friendly staff, the room wss a disappointment, dull and with little comforts, no mirror for make up little things thst spoilt the experience the toilet seat didnt fit the toilet too small crazy!but there it is , the shower head wont stay up the extractor fan didnt work and the bath didnt drain so a shower became a paddle. The breakfast was brilliant but £30 per night for car parking a little steep.

Everything was good except the wifi didn't work. The staff knew about it, but not really much they could do. We like the location and were able to get to all the tourist attractions by foot. It's worth buying the breakfast buffet the night before it, will save you 5 pounds. It's not the best buffet but is very convenient. Ask for a castle view room when booking.

Lovely room and had a excellent view of the tower. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Location means you are a short walks from everything in York city centre. Only ate at breakfast which was very nice and I enjoyed being able to have poached eggs at buffet style breakfast.
