Jorvik House

No lift. It was hard for me to carry my small suitcase. Very small room even for 1 person. The advantage was its location, 15 min walk from train station and to attractions. Right across from the Mueum Gardens In Nov the city wall was closed.

This property was adorable and the location was perfect. I would have given it 5 stars but they gave no indication of all the stairs!! My husband had just had knee surgery and we booked the studio which was on the 4th floor. The stairs were pretty steep and there wasn't a lift. When had to change rooms to the 3rd floor, of which I'm still waiting on a credit. I wish I would've known about all the stairs. With that said, the room was super comfy and the location couldn't have been better. I would recommend this place and would stay there again (just would request a room lower).

Location on the edge of York city center was an easy walk to all attractions. Convenient for both car (large city parking lot nearby) and rail (station just across the river). We had a large room with a very spacious bathroom, all done to satisfaction.

The location of this property is perfect right in the middle of the City. There isn't parking however there is a council car park right behind the property but this will set you back £26 for 2 nights. We decided to park around a mile away and walk in, a nice 20 minute walk. Staff there are really friendly and the property is immaculate. Just a couple small things we picked up on. We were in one of the luxury double rooms in the loft space. The room was perfect other than it had a lack of ventilation. The bathroom velux window is screwed shut. You can open the window at the front of the bedroom however after 2 hot showers and my partner using her hair dryer the room gets really warm and stuffy to the point we couldnt wait to get out of the hotel for a bit of fresh air. I can't imagine how warm it must get in summer. There is a small fan but i think allowing the velux to open in the bathroom would make a big difference. Also not wanting to sound too picky but if its being listed luxury we only got one toilet roll. So the next day I had to call reception for another. It arrived really quickly however they brought just one more. I'm not sure why the bathroom doesnt have 2 or 3 for a 2 night stay. They are the cheap toilet rolls with only a few sheets so doesnt take long to get through them! Also we had to call for more milk as they weren't replenished the next day. These are just small things and we would happily stay again

Had an issue with our room regarding a noise in the wall that started at 5am and continued we were moved next door which was quieter, wish we had known about the construction going on right outside the windows and start at 8am on weekends. Great location, and walkable into the centre, very convenient long stay public carpark just around the corner.

We had a very enjoyable stay, very friendly and helpful staff and a great location close to the city centre. The only issue we had was with parking. Though the hotel has no on-site parking it can rent a limited number of places nearby. We booked one of these only to find someone else had taken our spot and we had to use the closest car park instead.

Everything was great except the cleaning supplies they use. Very strong smell was left in the room that had a strong perfume scent. Very rough on someone with bad allergies. The bathroom could have used some paint work, but I really could not complain overall and it was a great stay. I would certainly recommend to others.

Convenient location, Clean, Comfy and helpful staff

I've visited the property multiple times and the staff are always wonderfully helpful and friendly. The rooms are always clean, tidy and comfortable. It's in a great location, very walkable and directly opposite the museum gardens and very close to central York but off the main road enought that there is no noise when trying to sleep (bar some late night arrivals with lead feet that only disturbed for about 30mins night 1). The Jorvik house will always be my first and preffered choice. And as my Mam's first trip to this hotel she loved it and had the best nights sleep she's had in weeks! Looking forward to our next stay

Great location wise and easy walk into the main town good size room, well decorated with well stocked mini bar 😊 Would recommend, only downside was we were in the room downstairs (basement) so view out of windows was not good.

Location amazing. Beautiful clean bright spacious rooms. The only issue we faced is we couldn’t get the water temperature in the shower to turn down from boiling hot.

I had a lovely stay at Jorvik House. The rooms are contemporary, very clean, and stylish. The hotel is on a quiet road directly across from the Museum Gardens, which makes access into York town centre very easy. The bathroom was small but perfect for me (solo traveller) with an amazing waterfall shower. My only criticism is that I found the bed ever so slightly lumpy in places but it didn't stop me from getting a decent night's sleep. Good quality bedding and pillows though. The minibar was a nice addition too. I had a great stay here, the staff are so, so kind and friendly. I only wish I'd booked to stay a bit longer!

A beautiful room with a great bath and shower - always important! Comfy bed, lovely coffee machine, snacks… fan supplied as weather was hot. The view was of a building site which was a shame but didn’t really bother me, I was only there a night.

Loved the space of the room and the two person tub. It was lovely walking through the gardens on the way to the city center.

We stayed in the loft suite which was spacious and thoughtfully decorated. We particularly like the Moomin pictures on the wall!

Very friendly and helpful staff from the minute we arrived to the minute we left . Property kept in tip top condition room very welcoming and cosy excellent space and toilets very very clean . Staff very knowledgeable of the surrounding area and could recommend and answer any queries.Would definitely recommend and we plan to travel again soon to this hotel. David and Hazel .

Great atmospheres! Staff always very helpful, kind and smiling. The position is very comfortable: every interesting corner of York is few minutes walk from there. I felt like home. Extremely happy of the choice.

This accommodation was in the most perfect place for a visit to York. It was right across from the museum gardens, quiet, and a quick walk to the city center. Loved it!

The hotel is located very close to restaurants, pubs, and a beautiful park right across the street. It’s walkable into the city center with many beautiful sites and attractions.

Jirvik House could not have been more perfect for our trip needs. Close to the historic district and right next door to the beautiful city park, we were basically able to fall out of bed every morning and within 5 minutes we were at a lovely cafe for breakfast or hiking to our first cathedral/castle/Viking stomping grounds.
