Diamonds Inn

This was perfect for our family of 5- really easy walkable distance to Xmas market, Minster and pantomime. As a crash pad for the night, it was fine and we’d definitely use it again. Staff were fantastic and couldn’t be more helpful, including helping us with parking across the road and permit for £7.50 but this is limited. Cons- the room and fixtures/fittings are tired and need updating. Few stains on carpet etc.

Everything was great mostly - the sink was a bit funny at times, and there was very loud construction in the next room over that we weren’t warned about before, but overall a great experience

Good location just a few minutes walk from the centre. Access was via a phone call and then being provided with a code. Key card then in the room. Really clean. Was a single night stay and didn’t spend long in the room however can’t fault it for location and price. I was on top floor so also was relatively quiet. Didn’t hear the other residents. I also had my own bathroom which I don’t think all rooms have as I saw separate bathrooms on other floors. I would recommend for a short trip where you want to have a central location. I didn’t drive so can’t comment on parking.

Good service and nothing too much bother considering ther was improvement work in progress.A safe and clean place to stay.plenty of tea coffee and sugar in th room with a fridge, kettle and a hairdryer too.also a small fridge to keep drinks cold,plus a fan on the room to keep cool on hot days. Plenty of shampoo and other amenities in the bathroom also.would definitely use this guesthouse again.

Loved the central location, easy walking distance for everything, properly is currently undergoing some renovations, our room was basic, but clean and comfortable. Check in procedure was difficult for an overseas visitor as the only method was via calling a uk mobile number which we were unable to do with our Australian phones, a simple addition of a doorbell would be great. Another simple addition which would make a big difference would be a mirror in the room close to a power point, so that you can see to dry and style your hair, I ended up sitting in the doorway so I could use the hallway mirror. Otherwise I was very happy with our stay.

Stayed for one night, room had everything we needed. Tea coffee even toiletries. We arrived early morning and the receptionist who greeted us was friendly and very helpful we were able to leave our luggage and then go off for the day. She showed us where to park and only cost £7 for 24 hours. Location was perfect 5 minute walk to inside the walls and the hop on off bus outside the hotel. Nice, quant hotel.

We booked a standard room with a shared bathroom for a very good price. It was all we needed. Room was freshly decorated, very clean, with tea , coffee biscuits. Bathroom was just for us. Great location.

The room was cramped with a sloping ceiling and no daily room service, no lift to upper floors. Check-in was unnecessarily complicated. You have to phone a UK number to get the code! The overall stay was lovely i didnt stay the 2 nights as my business was concluded in the first day. The room was very clean amd the beds were really comfortable plenty of tea and coffee in the room and also bottles of water. Will defo be staying here again in the future.

Staff were excellent very helpful, the room was clean with extra pillows ,blankets plenty of towels and toiletries, hairdryer. Coffee, tea and milk with extra supplies by the door. Only thing missing is a mirror in the room ( was one in bathroom)

Hotel was very close to York City Centre. It was an ok stay. Bed sheets were clean, other areas not so clean. However for a nights stay it was ok.

We booked a family room for me, my wife, and our three children, but the conditions were disappointing. Cleanliness: The room was awful dirty. The bed sheets were stained, and the bathroom was unclean. We even found a woodlouse in the bathroom, which was quite unsettling. The peeling paint on the walls and wallpaper added to the overall unpleasantness. Hygiene: The bathroom had hair all over the floor, making it impossible to use the shower. The lack of proper hygiene was concerning, especially during a family stay. The beds had hair in, including on the mattress also the carpet was very stained. Heating: To make matters worse, there was no heating in the room. We had to rely on a storage heater, which was inadequate and uncomfortable. Overall Impression Our stay at the Diamonds Inn was unacceptable. We felt that the cleanliness and hygiene standards were well below what one would expect from any accommodation. We would not recommend this place to anyone, and we certainly won’t be returning.

We found the location very convenient for all the city centre attractions, and a hotel nearby where we enjoyed breakfast. Our room had everything we needed for our two-night stay, including a small fridge. I didn't check our our daughter's room, but had no complaints. Our bathroom worked well, everything was clean. There wasn't much storage which wasn't an issue for us. The hotel is in an older style house and may benefit from sound-proofing measures.

Everything was really worth value for your money. However we experienced rudeness during our stay when one of the renters on the other room was knocking our wall and telling us to keep quiet when were not making any noise but because my husband snored which I cant avoid they kept on knocking our wall. He doesn't really snore, but just that particular night he snored because we were literally tired and exhausted from the travel. But can you avoid that? Can they literally shut us up when someone is snoring which is out of our control. They should have rented another hotel if they don’t wanna hear any sound at all. Something sound proof. Of course it is a budget hotel so what do you expect?

None of the shared toilets or private toilet in our room flushed. It was incredibly hot on 8th floor with no air flow or air conditioning. Ceiling was slanted so you couldnt stand straight without banging head. I would not go back.

Nice place the room was very small which we didn't mind as we didn't go to York to spend time in the hotel. Only complaint is the walls are quite thin so we could hear other couples arguing which isn't exactly the inns fault

Good location, close to the centre, had to keep window open due to radiators been on full blast so was abit noisy. But beds comfortable and the room and bathroom clean. Would stay again.

Location was also very convenient - we didn't use transport during our stay as all the touristy location and shops can be accessed by walking. The place also allowed us to leave our bags until 4pm. Only downside is how thin the bedroom walls are ( we can hear everything from next door - from the telly to using the shower lol) otherwise very convenient and would Recommended this place to anyone who will visit York and would like to prioritise convenience and comfort. 👍

Close to town centre. Great id you don't plan to spend much time there. Beds are clean, bathroom needs an upgrade. Daughter sliced her thumb on the stairs banister. Everything is organised over the phone, don't really see any staff.

5 minutes walk to Monksgate and access to the city centre - this was great for convenience. I had booked two nights, and added on a third; this meant changing rooms, so I was a little annoyed when there were no staff available in the morning for me to stow my bags for moving. I called the number given and was told they would call back, but nobody did, and I ended up having to.take my luggage away for the day. However, they gave me a very nice room for my last night!

2 adults and 3 young kids so finding a hotel that accommodates all in one room is difficult but I found this little gem. We had a room with one double bed and 3 single beds. Beds really comfortable, room very clean. Tea and coffee making facilities and a mini fridge with bottles of water provided. Plenty of clean towels and small bottles of showergel etc. Only a few minutes walk from the city walls. Great place to stay for the price. Staff were really friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here if you have a family of 5! The kids loved it and wanted to stay in their 'holiday house'. Great base for exploring York. We will definitely return. please update the methods in which you can check in. as international travellers we are using international SIM cards which make it impossible to call your numbers to check in. we had to sit outside of the property and come up with an alternative method of checking in. we then were joined with two other parties in the exact same situation as us. luckily one of the guests was able to get his sim to work. this however was then met with voicemails. this is not acceptable when majority of people travelling to York are only staying for a short time. time is seriously limited. I suggest that you send the instructions to check in via email rather than relying on phone calls. room and facilities were great just extremely disappointed with the check in process!

My two sons and I were looking for a place to sleep only but affordable, clean, close to the attractions in York and we found it here. The room is small but clean and with comfortable beds. It's situated in a nice areas steps to many good places to eat. I'll stay again.
