Really lovely place! The photos on the website don't do it justice our room was lovely. Only about a 10 min walk from the centre. If you're driving here you can park nearby if you ask at reception (we ended up paying for a car park because we didn't realise!)

Efficient remote service with clear instructions and faultless security system. Room was superb - very comfortable and clean. Good size single bed.

Room was lovely, manager was very helpful, good location with great bakery walking distance. Parking 5 pounds a day was well worth it.

Great stay very comfortable bed. Love that you can help yourself to more tea coffee and sugar and that you could have free use of the kitchen. Very close to city centre too. Would stay here again

We were in York for a few days for our daughters University Graduation and wanted somewhere within a reasonable walking distance of the city. Vikjng accommodation is ideally located, a 10 to 15 minute work from the Minster. On arrival we were greeted by the host who also arranged for a parking permit forntge duration of our stay. There is free on street parking nearby but i would recommend paying the £5 per day charge for the permit to be able to park outside the property and with the city being a short walk theres no need to pay the high city centre parkjng charges. We booked 2 rooms, both of which were spotless and very comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities were great with a nespresso type machine in each room. Our rooms were en suite and again the bathrooms were spotless. Theres also a kitchen available for guest use (we didnt make use of it) and additional tea, coffee and biscuits to grab if you run out. We were really pleased with Vikings accommodation, the hosts have taken great care to ensure that guests are well looked after in comfortable surroundings. Price was fantastic with the rooms being around £60 per night. Why pay extortionate hotel chain prices when you can have a much better experience staying at Vikings. We'll definitely be going back.

The room we stayed in was spacious and had a double bed and a single bed. The mattress on the double bed was too soft for me. The room and ensuite were spotlessly clean but the pine furniture was a little tired. There was a new grey carpet in the room, curtains had blackout lining, a plug in radiator and a normal radiator so room was comfortably warm. Bedding white with grey throws, a nice hanging space with a white wash driftwood theme and a coffee machine and kettle. TV and free wifi. There is a kitchen you can use with microwaves, cooker, fridge freezer plates and cutlery. The hosts were really nice told me where to park for free parking or it was permit holders only outside for £5 per day. 15 minute walk to town, host told me where to go for a river walk with my dogs. Dogs were extra charge i paid £10 ,per night per dog i have small dogs. There is a pizza takeaway just around the corner which we used one night. I would recommend staying at the viking hotel

Very nice host. I only stayed at this hotel for one night. The sink was clogged which I wasn't so crazy about. Also, I think this hotel is a little bit far from the sites. But if you're looking to save money, it might be worth it for you. For me, I wouldn't recommend.

It was quite dusty and felt unclean overall. Also, the shower drain didn’t work. Lastly, the single bed in our room was very old with visible coils seen through the sheets. Disappointed with this stay and wouldn’t go back or recommend.

More minus’s than plus’s! Our room was small and hot. No fan or air conditioning. The blind was wonky and tangled across a condensation drenched window. The bathroom smelt of blocked pipe work, probably the drainage for the shower needed cleaning. Wasn’t really possible to use it and because of the odour we kept the door closed. The remote control for the TV was broken. The sound buttons didn’t work. I contacted the staff number, but was not offered a solution, or an apology. The room was noisy, both outside and inside, with very poor soundproofing. On the plus the room was central, very clean and the coffee/tea facilities good. Very expensive for such poor quality in comparison to all other hotels we’ve visited in the last year. Would not return.

I've stayed in many similarly priced accomodation in York over the past few years and this is by far the best and most value for money. Modern and clean rooms in a lovley old York house. Very friendly staff. Great find.

The friendly wonderful customer service was the best I have ever experienced and it is in a residential area close to walking to everything in York however these didn’t entirely make up for what made a challenging stay. There was a loud party, heating was unreliable as was the wifi which made it difficult to work, it was nicely decorated but needed attention to dirty walls and upkeep, the bed was hard as a rock and I was not informed ahead of time that my room would be up 3-4 long flights of stairs which I could have then declined. The owners are so accommodating and would do anything to make your stay perfect however these few things made it tough.

It was ok the host was welcoming and informative about the area and shown us our toom and how to access the front door for when we arrived back from our walk around the city. Although the room was clean the bed was not very comfortable but it was ok as we were only staying one night The only thing is that it should say to park on the street near the hotel cost £5 for 24 hours as we didnt find this out until we arrived

Lovely hotel, owner was friendly and helpful, he couldn’t do enough for us, the room was cosy, warm, and spacious. It was about a 10-15 min walk into town which was nice as we walked past some lovely pubs and quirky little boutiques. Overall a fantastic stay. I would recommend

It was very close to the city center, 10 mins walk, but, I’m 72, had to climb very narrow stairs they said 2 flights, but I’ll say 3 to get to my room, The second night had very rowdy men , next to me, very thin walls, could hear them speaking, well after 11pm before they stopped, It was a long weekend, it was a race week end , but the price I paid was extremely expensive $300 plus a night .

The room was lovely, comfy beds & nice bathroom. The host was lovely, so helpful & friendly. Hotel is in a brilliant location, quiet so not disturbed in the night but only a 10min walk from the centre. Highly recommend this accommodation and will book again if coming to York.

Bed as hard as rocks. Walls paper thin and you can hear the noise from neighbors as if their in the room with you (they provide ear plugs that’s how bad it is). Heat is centrally controlled so it can get pretty cold. Tiny room and not the best location. Would not recommend!

Stayed 4 nights here. Hotel is on a quiet street, about a 20 minute walk from the train station and a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre. Had a single room and it was a good size, with tea and coffee and more downstairs if needed. There is also a kitchen if you wish to cook your own meals. Owners were lovely. Definitely would stay again if I'm ever in York.

This was our second stay here and it did not disappoint. Staff are so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. Location is amazing and walkable into city. Room is so clean and great space for a stay. Will definitely recommend and return here.

A great experience, good communication around check in, lovely clean and well appointed room. Lots of great touches, nice big towels, very good hairdryer and chocolates on the pillows! A great nights stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Vikings Accommodation very much. The hotel and rooms are nice; they are clean and very sufficient. The location is fantastic – a quick walk to the city center. But what sets this place apart from the others are the owners. They go out of their way to meet every need, and they are very pleasant and friendly. You will be amazed by their outstanding attention to detail. We recommend Vikings Accommodation highly.

Cozy room with individual touches, not corporate or beige design. Free parking, friendly and professional host. Decent location about ten minutes walk from York Minster.

We liked how quiet the area is but is still close to both York city center but close to the train as well. Everything you would want to do is within 30 minutes of walking, which is excellent.

Host was very friendly and professional, accommodation is clean with everything you need. Roadside parking just around the corner, we parked up and left the car there as the city is within walking distance. Our room was on the roadside but still very quiet even with the window open, we slept very well both nights. Highly recommended and we will return.
