Really lovely hotel in a great location in York. The building is stunning and the room was really nicely put together. The record player and the pantry were both really nice touches. Would highly recommend.

We recently stayed at Number One York Guest House and had a wonderful experience overall. The staff were incredibly attentive and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. Our suite was exceptionally spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made it feel like a home away from home. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with a great selection and high-quality ingredients. It was the perfect start to each day. My only criticisms are relatively minor. The external stairs are extremely noisy, and the excessive creaking from people walking up and down them can be quite disruptive, especially early in the morning or late at night. I also feel that the lounge area would benefit from having separate voile curtains, similar to those in the bedroom, to provide additional privacy while still allowing plenty of natural light into the room. Despite these small issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Number One York Guest House to anyone visiting York.

We stayed in the Bootham suite, the room was light and airy and had a lovely small balcony to enjoy the sunshine. The four poster bed was very comfy and there was a small seating area to relax in. Breakfast was very good, everything is a la carte and the staff were very attentive. The hotel is in a great location, very easy walking distance into York but also very quiet and peaceful. The Pantry is a really nice touch but it was a shame that there wasn't a fridge in the room to keep drinks cool. The bathroom in the suite is not very private so you need to be comfortable with whoever you're sharing with!! It would also benefit from a bit more shelving around the sink as there wasn't much space to put anything. The toiletries were very nice and there was a lovely large bathtub and separate rainfall shower.
