Hotel is in dire need of maintenance. Many things not working. Had to change rooms twice. Third room was passable. Fire/smoke detectors chirping (low batteries), AC units struggling to cool, fitness room was a joke, and trash around the lobby and outside. Get it together. Not up to IHG standards.

Where to start? The rooms (2 rooms) were not ready upon arriving at the hotel. It qas well after 7pm and the rooms were supposed to be ready by 4pm. Apparently staff just didn't show up, housekeepers for one, but also no cook or battender. The front desk was super apologetic, and I felt bad for her as there were quite a few people upset and waiting. She recommended that we go and eat, which wasn't something we had planned on doing without taking a shower first and unloading the car but what choice did we have? After returning from dinner we still had to wait for the rooms, as they were still not ready. By 9pm we had rooms assigned. We used the luggage carts, but almost had a child casualty as the carts all have flat tires, so they almoat flipped. Then the room key didn't work, so back down we go. Finally we are settled in, but the next day the elevator on our side of the hotel broke and now we had to either use the elevator at the other end of the hotel or the stairs. Ok fine, but try that with a bunch of luggage and from the 5th floor... anyway, checking out was therefore as much of a pain as checking in. The fitness center was beyond filthy, but I guess rooms took priority. So ok, bad experience all around. No option of breakfast at the hotel, as no staff available. So obviously, I contacted Expedia to see if there is something that could be done, I didn't expect a full refund, but at least an acknowledgement? A good faith gesture? But no, the hotel did not. Nothing!

The hotel prices were inflated for App State check in. Then to arrive and see that the pool and Jacuzzi were out of order. No continental breakfast as stated in the listing. The property is under construction but if it had maintained properly it would have been more pleasant.

Long wait for check-in. Hot tub not working. Pool room was freezing because they left the windows open overnight (30 degrees overnight). No microwave in room or the bar area. Have to use microwave in the “business room” which is sometimes locked. Parking lot was completely full so people made their own parking spaces. Furniture in room was too larger for the space so it was kind of cramped. Traffic in the area was horrible. Not easy to enter/exit hotel parking lot (no left turn lanes, etc)

The desk clerk at check in was great. She went out of her way to solve reservation problems, We originally booked at Holiday Inn Blowing Rock but had reservations canceled less than 24 hours before our trip. They said a broken water main was the reason for cancelling our reservation, so we then rebooked in Boone. It turns out that after being told that they had a pool and hot tub, they were both not working. I would definitely not go back to Holiday Inn.

Overall very little value for your dollar, especially when you have to pay extra for breakfast. Receptionist was absent when I arrived and I had to wait quite some time before he showed up. Room was rather dirty and I found some hair on the towels, albeit it was cozy and nice.

This hotel is in a great location, close and convenient to many things, including App State University. The property itself could use some updating. Carpet isn't the greatest throughout. Our shower water would only get lukewarm, not hot at all. Staff was very nice and switched us rooms so we could enjoy our stay as much as possible.

This property was terrible for our stay/ our room was in poor condition, no curtain the outside, no phone to call staff, broken heater. Finally got moved to a second room and it was so loud that I had to call the front desk after midnight 2 nights in a row. Plumbing was so loud it woke everyone in the room up to flush the toilet. Heater was so loud you couldn’t hear the tv when on. No dining most hours of the day, carpet was in poor condition.

The price of the hotel was good. Our air conditioner must have been low on Freon as it didn’t blow out cool air making for a very uncomfortable August night sleep. The room smelled a bit musty. Other than this, the hotel was fine, but we would not stay here again.

Noisy is my operative word. Fortunately it calmed down during the night. It could be the problem was my room location. But every person that came out of the elevator I could hear the conversations clearly. Another issue was the water pipes from adjacent rooms. I could clearly hear shower and toilet water activity. Last but not last my room's climate system (AC/heat installed at the bottom of the window) was NOISY. I am used to these being somewhat annoying for any hotel. But that one was a new level of noisy. I liked the location and the facility was in decent condition. Above average, I'd say. But the noise really force me to take off points.

The room was supposed to be $215 total with tax. That is what we confirmed at checkin. The next morning our balance already, charged to my bank was $415. We asked about the mistake, they said that happens sometimes and I would have to wait 10 full business days for it to be refunded to my account. The front desk costumer service was very poor with communication at check in and answering any questions.

The fitness center was beyond filthy, but I guess rooms took priority. So ok, bad experience all around. No option of breakfast at the hotel, as no staff available. So obviously, I contacted Expedia to see if there is something that could be done, I didn't expect a full refund, but at least an acknowledgement? A good faith gesture? But no, the hotel did not. Nothing!

I could not find my reservation for this property for some reason in the app as I was driving over 5 hours to bring my daughter to college in Boone NC. It was late at night and I was starting to worry so I tried to call but couldn’t get anyone to answer. I then booked another reservation at another hotel because it was late and I didn’t want to get there at 1 am with no place to stay. A few days later, I realized a charge was made to my credit card so I immediately reached out to Expedia, I explained the situation and the trouble I had I ended up paying over $100 more at the other hotel so I would’ve gladly stayed at the Holiday Inn had I been able to pull up the reservation or get someone on the phone. Expedia tried to call them multiple times and had to chase the manager around to try to get someone on the phone only for them to be so insensitive to the situation and they were not willing to budge so I ended up paying $124 for a mistake that was not my fault and they refused to credit it back. I do not recommend this hotel, they are not customer first!!!!! There are many other decent hotels in the Boone area check their first!!! I will be traveling to Boone to visit my daughter, but I will not be staying at this hotel!!

I never leave reviews, but feel like this one needs to be done. I was extremely disappointed in this Holiday Inn. We showed up at 4:30pm to check in thinking our room would be ready with no problems. Wrong! We along with 20 other people had to wait for another almost 2 hours to get into our rooms due to the rooms had not been cleaned yet. After 1 1/2 hours we had to tell the Manager we needed a room to get ready for a function. He finally worked it out where we could go up to our room but allow the workers to come back to finish cleaning. He comped us drinks at the bar and breakfast this morning. We went to our function, came back to a clean room but then this morning when we went down to get breakfast the area was closed with a sign saying it was closed due to weather related issues. We will not stay here again. Too many issues with low staff/employees.

For the price we paid, this hotel did fall short of our expectations. They were understaffed. They didn’t have a bartender and the bar was poorly stocked. The room service menu advertised availability until 11:00 PM. However, when we called for food before 10:00 PM, we were told they were closed. Also, the hot tub was out of order.

It was disappointing that you have to pay for coffee and water. Most hotels offer it complimentary. The breakfast prices were too high. The bar was nice but two of the four nights we stayed it was closed.

Was refused breakfast service at 9:50 am when breakfast ended at 10am. They said they had orders before mine and wasn’t taking anymore breakfast orders. This place doesn’t have free breakfast so no breakfast for $200 a night.

the location is perfect and very convenient. The staff are ok. The pool is not as good as in the picture we didn't like the pool condition. The only thing that I can't pass, and we really didn't like is the way they are serving breakfast it not a self-serving breakfast. you will have to order at the counter, and they will bring it to your table. that not the problem is they want to do it that way, but it not convenient at all, as there is only one person behind the counter and he is the same person serving, so when the poor person has to do all this the line is already crazy and get crowded and you can wait as long as you don't imagine standing and waiting for him to finish and take your order and then wait again to have it on the table if you are lucky you can get your food in 15 minutes if not then work on your patient before you get there. not blaming the workers because they are definitely doing their best to work out the situation, but the hotel management need to figure it out. when you have bounch of kids with you and you have to leave in the morning to do activities or to leave the hotel and you will have to deal with this in the morning it not fun.
