Holiday Inn Express Boone by IHG

We booked this hotel because we had pretty good experiences with other chain hotels of Holidayinn. However we were unlucky because the hotel is in process of fixing their hot water system and we didn’t have hot water for the night. The good thing was that the hotel allowed us to check out earlier and significantly reduced the rate. The hotel room was clean and spacious. However the heater was very loud and woke me every time it started. The front desk staff was very nice and patient, which may be the only thing I enjoyed this stay.

The suite was spacious and everything was clean except the sofa, two chairs and ottoman. The fabric was cloth and it was disgusting. You literally stuck to it when you touched it. I had to drape a sheet over the furniture before I could sit on it. The pool wasn’t in operation. Since it was a family vacation, I looked at hotels that had outdoor pools available. We were disappointed to see a sign that stated the pool wasn’t in operation- sorry for the inconvenience- for our entire three night stay.

The elevators were out of order. The desk staff did not seem bothered by this inconvenience to customers. The house keeping staff were all very courteous and respectful. An older lady that serves the breakfast was hateful and made me feel like I was in her way

Although the property is showing some age, they are renovating the rooms from the 4th floor down. Very clean, good breakfast and quality service.

Would not stay here again. Very outdated for expensive price of room. No workout room, breakfast was dismal, front door of hotel was broken with construction tape all around (3rd day of broken door). This was hugely inconvenient because everyone had to exit and enter through side pool door. This was a narrow walkway and difficult to get luggage through. Staff did not even apologize for this huge inconvenience nor offer any concession. Room price was way too high!

The building was being remolded when we were there. The lobby was a mess.

Your HVAC sucks terribly. No actual thermostat and it was either too hot or too cold. Lack of a real thermostat in 2023 is pretty pathetic. An omelette with no topics is just a solid chunk of scrambled eggs. Don’t call it an omelette station. Otherwise breakfast was ok. Broke front doors with a sign so small you walk all the way to a broke ass door before finding out you have to walk around the building to a different door.

Website says you have a fitness center… it’s actually down the street. Upon check in, I was given a room number that already had someone in it! Thank goodness they were clothed!

Pool wasn't open, housekeeping wasn't done daily and the lack of a fitness center was disappointing

We specifically chose this hotel because of the pool for our Grandkids. They were very grumpy children that the pool was closed for some unknown reason. And then the inernet went down. I should have gotten a reduction in my price, the front staff were unhelpful in that regard.

Rooms very clean and quiet. Staff were very nice. Price was very reasonable. Would definitely return here.

Room was older and dusty. Area under sink in bathroom was dirty and had cobwebs. Was ok for a one night stay.

The hotel lobby was dirty. Our room was not as clean as I would have like since Covid . The cost for one night was $335.00. We stayed the night before in a Comfort Inn and the cost was $114.00 in Lenoir. And it was so clean the TV remote was in a sanitied bag . I had something to compare and the Holiday Inn came up very poor for cleanliness. Would not recommend. Very unhappy.

Had stayed at this property years ago and it was nice that's why I chose it, buy this property need major updates! Our room was not cleaned well floors looked dirty a ring in the commode, hair's on the floor behind the commode, very dirty windows just to name a few, told the front desk the response was they would tell housekeeping which had already left for the day, would not recommend this location to anyone!

The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The food court was well stocked at breakfast but the only thing they needed was a way to keep the food warm. The lady that was working the food court was very pleasant. We stayed in room 116 handicap room. Bed was made ok and room was clean. The bathroom was not clean. The floor was not clean and it looked like it hadn’t been mopped in weeks. The microwave needed to be replaced because someone must have burnt something in it and the inside was black on the back wall. The furniture was old and outdated. Hotel needs updated. It was very busy and I would think that with a update would only increase visitors.

Toilet and tub exceptionally dirty.

A few things about my stay: -The toilet hadn't been cleaned, and I don't think the tub had been either. There was no soap, and the alarm clock was unplugged. -It was snowing outside, and the AC unit would only blow cold air until I turned it up to 75. There are no blankets on the beds, just a sheet and a duvet, and since many people avoid hotel duvets because they aren't usually washed between guests, any sanitation-conscious guests end up with just a sheet. Even when the heat finally started working it stayed ice cold in the room. After a mostly sleepless night wearing my heaviest clothes, as I was packing to leave I noticed the window was open an inch, hidden behind the curtains. I've never even seen an opening hotel window. I'm not sure it's fair to blame that on the housekeeper who didn't clean the toilet, but I feel like when it's below freezing, closing the window ought to be on the room prep checklist. It felt like a lot of attention hadn't been paid to making the room ready for the next guest. -The furnishings, or at least some of them, badly need replacing. The table is ancient, scarred, and splashed with blue paint for some reason; the lamps are old enough that they don't have charging plugs; and the alarm clock came straight from the 90s. The nightstand can't be pushed back against the wall because of the outlet. The bathroom ceiling has been badly repainted. Overall, though the wallpaper looks new, the room feels worn out. -The sheets were nice and clean.

Room was not clean. Had mold in the shower and bathroom floor was not clean. There was food in the AC vent. The curtain had a hole in it. The furniture is old and scratched up.

Carpet’s dirty not vacuumed, the door was slightly open when we checked in, missing lightbulbs in room, they said they were renovating but the room looked like it wasn’t renovated, stains on the chairs. Front desk was rude when asked of we can them in early and she said we can at 1pm.

Very Clean rooms and full breakfast was excellent -

Arrived to discover my room had no refrigerator or microwave. Check with front desk and they stated some rooms do not have either one. The total 2 night stay with 2 queen beds and without a fridge was $560. Will not stay there again!

Nice property almost done with renovations. Rooms are comfortable and the staff is very pleasant. Couple of knocks - old school AC system, either on or off because there is no thermostat. The door locks are a little finicky.

The room looked like it had just been renovated. Very clean. Surprisingly nice. :)

Holiday Inn has recently underwent renovations (not sure how recent) however I paid for and purchased a king room with sofa bed and jetted tub and went to our room and realized it had a shower. (It was super nice don’t get me wrong) went down to front desk and asked about jetted tub room we paid for. The girl looked at floor plan and then asked her coworker- Do we have rooms with jetted tubs and she said, No, not since the renovations. Expedia needs to update their descriptions for hotel. We were SO excited that we at least had the ability to have Netflix OR as Advertised on their TV, have the ability to “cast “ our shows from our service to TV. (Which “everyone” knows how to do these days). We scanned QR code with our phone and it says was ready to Cast but phones couldn’t find a service. Called down to front desk and phone cord kept falling out only to be told, no sorry…. That’s not working right now. Otherwise, the hotel is clean and beautiful

The renovated room we enjoyed was outstanding-very contemporary and user friendly. Would highly recommend!

The property was convenient to the university, which hosted a concert the night I was in Boone. The good breakfast featured a variety of items, both hot and cold. The air conditioner in Room 208 kept me awake so I turned it off. I recommend updating the AC

Breakfast was great, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Our room did not have a refrigerator or microwave, and we were told that we would have to upgrade our room in order to have them, which seems ridiculous.

The King suite was very spacious, clean and quiet. The bed was a little firm, but that's just a personal thing. Really liked the option of soft or firm pillows. Couch was very comfy. Breakfast was good. Room AC units do not have a thermostat, just a dial to determine temperature, so kinda of a guess as to where to set it to get the room temperature that you like to sleep in. We woke up warm during the night but adjusted it and all was good after. Price was very reasonable compared to other hotels. Stayed one night and would definitely stay in this hotel again.

This hotel is clean and of course the location is convenient to restaurants in Boone. However, I was very concerned about the customer service during breakfast (morning of Friday, March 28). When an employee returned to the coffee station with additional creamer for the coffee, myself and another guest (who I did not know) thanked her. Instead of responding or even speaking to us, she slammed it down and walked away. Her actions were incredibly rude. I shared this with the front desk, as well. Additionally, I would recommend that this hotel add a stash of personal hygiene options available for purchase. (Toothpaste, feminine hygiene, etc). A small convenience style counter would be immensely helpful.

Great customer service! The AC unit in the room made a bad rattling sound. I asked at the front desk if someone could come and check it out and within 15-20 minutes someone was up to look at it and he cleaned the filters and all was well. Much appreciated!!

Great location and an overall nice place to stay!

Great place to stay. Close to stores and restaurants. Outdoor pool was cold for June but otherwise great place. Beds were decent and clean. Room was larger with a balcony and spacious bathroom.

This is the nicest Holiday Inn I have stayed at. Friendly staff, nicely renovated, spacious room, and perfectly located near the University and restaurants. Breakfast options were ok. If I’m back in the area, I would stay here again.

We stayed for the first time. Everything was excellent even during remodeling. It’s close to attractions like Blowing Rock and Grandfather Mountain. We plan to stay again next year.

The hotel is conveniently located in Boone, right off the highway and not far from both Appalachian State and downtown Boone. If the weather is nice and you prefer to walk a decent walk, you're not to far from the college or downtown. If you wish to drive, you're just a short drive away. There are plenty of restaurants around, both the typical tourist chains as well as something a bit more local. The hotel staff was friendly, the room and building were clean, and the grounds were nice as well. The breakfast was nice, but a tip: if you or one of you're party is gluten sensitive, there's very little for you. Would love to see hotels add a little variety for gluten free people, especially big hotel companies that charge what they charge. Other than that, all is good. It's a Holiday Inn Express, you know what you're getting. A very nice stay and would certainly stay here again.

Just found the access a little difficult. Main entrance off of highway into the property not will marked given the proximity to Lowes

I'm gluten free and they had plenty of food I could eat every day, not just a few days each week like most hotels do. My husband also was pleased with the food. They cleaned my room without being asked to, also. That hasn't happened since 2020 at the other places we've stayed. We had a great trip.

This is an older motel. No fans in the bathroom which left it soaking wet after a shower...changed sheets questionable.....air conditioning hard to regulate Was clean...staff friendly Breakfast was cold and could use refeshing. Convieant ....would stay again
